Magister is honestly just so cute I love him.. He refuses to teach Latin in the way that languages are usually taught (this word means '____' in English" and so on). Instead he teaches Latin almost as if he's trying to make it natural/a second language for us. He really is a good teacher and I never appreciated it until a few years into Latin with him. A very nice man overall; his eyes light up when you understand something or get an answer right.
Mr. Guderian is one of the best teachers at Rutherford High School. He is a very intelligent man but doesn't "force" students to learn like most teachers at RHS- you have to be willing. Also G is a really nice, funny, and understanding guy, even willing to push back test dates ridiculous amounts of time if the class harasses him enough.
I didn't learn anything in this class but that was my fault. Great teacher and I'd just like to anonymously apologize for not paying attention and wasting your time. Great teacher and great person.
one of the most interesting and engaging teachers at bca. he's such a great guy and teacher.
Looking back as an alumna of BCA, I can honestly say Magister was my favorite teacher.
He really does bring life to Latin; the reason why he refuses to directly translate words is because we have to think in the language; if you go to a foreign country, you won't have English handy.
he's really an awesome teacher, other then the fact that he just won't translate something into english! but he always makes us sing a song in latin to start off the class right! good teacher altogether =]
It's my first year taking Latin and I absolutely love it. Despite the fact that Magister won't translate anything for us, I think it's a great way to learn. I actually learn Latin as a language. Magister is awesome!
This is my fourth year with him, and I've gained a lot of respect for him in that time. He is the real deal when it comes to Latin. (Did you know he translated all those songs himself?) Also a really cool guy if you get to know him. Most Latin teachers make Latin seem dry and esoteric. Just memorization and charts. Magister, though, makes it a real language.
i started in latin 2 this year but we haven't even done ANY perfect imperfect pluperfect or whatnot this year which i learned in like SIXTH GRADE. he claims it's too advanced, but obviously it isn't too advanced if i learned it within my first few months of exposure to latin.. he's an okay teacher though, but i think the book he teaches with is really screwed cuz it doesn't even give translations which makes it like.. totally pointless. i suggest you go out and get a book called "ecce romani"
The line between best and good is indeed irritating, but it's such an easy class.
Magister's class is pretty boring and you do learn some latin, but then you forget the next week or year. He's so nice though and the singing is unusual.
He makes thinks so clear and helps you learn latin well; might be a little too easy, since everyone ends up falling asleep sometimes in class
Nice, nice man. Resented him through most of Latin I for that whole "good answer/better answer" thing. Found it incredibly irritating.
Horrible teacher. Sometimes he's funny, but he cant teach for his life
I started in latin 2 this year, and i didnt learn all of the vocab the sophmores learned last year. Yet when we ask wat a word means, he wont tell us.
It's such a boring class. Time just seems to stop in it. I still can't say a sentence in Latin
