I was in his class in 2003/4. I've now since moved home to Canada. He has taught me a great many things in life. In 2011 I lost my daughter to sids and if not for his teachings of how to take things head on and fix things. I was able to take care of my family and keep moving forward.... He is without a doubt the main reason I was able to hold my family together. If he hadn't taught me what he did I don't know where I'd be. He teaches you honor, courage, and commitment. Thank you.

The initial impression that I had of Gunny James on the 1st day of ROTC(September 2009)was not a good one, simply because he was acting as a typical military drill sergeant- mean, loud and intimidating. However, once settled in his class,I realized that was just a show he had put on to make his cadets realize that this wasnt breaktime...He expected us to do work just like everyone else.Fortunately, once everyone came to that understanding, the tone for the rest of the year was set.Gunny was great!
