Honors Chemistry class is very easy to pass however this is due mostly in part to the many extra credit points available. The concepts are difficult for most students to understand and her lectures normally are too fast for students to absorb the information. Most of the concepts I had to teach myself. If you are planning on taking AP Chemistry this teacher will prep you best. Just be aware she moves at a very fast pace that is sometimes ineffective for teaching.
Super! Friendly and smart but makes you work to get your grade. Love the examples and stories! Helps to get a real-world view of science. First class where I actually learned how to study. No spoon-feeding here! :)
Great teacher! Yeah the class is tough and you have to study, but it is chemistry people! She is totally fair and actually teaches the material. AP is harder than Honors, but you cant argue with the pass rate (85%)! As for grading, answers are either right or wrong and she requires you to show work. Do it and you're fine. If you're lazy, don't show work, and don't study then don't expect a good grade. Awesome teacher who shows you how to learn and doesn't spoon feed you.
Good chemist but bad teacher. Knows she deserves to be a 'real' chemistry person (not some hs teach), so she tells stories about her working in labs and whines a lot. TOTALLY UNFORGIVING in her grading.
Very knowledgable but absoutely unforgiving in her grading (even for mistakes so trivial that the AP chem frq rubric says they are not point penalties)... really whines a LOT about the could-have-beens. She knows she deserves better than being a hs chem teacher but circumstances didnt allow it, i guess.
She is a good teacher if you actually pay attention and study for the tests.
She has no care for her students needs. She makes the class more difficult by intentionally avoiding having helping and doing work. She "teaches" of one type of student the student who can teach them self.
Very smart teacher who doesn't care to share her knowledge. Expects students to learn on their own, from other students or from tutors. Not worth taking this class. Exams are impossible given the very little amount of actual teaching going on in her class.
My experience with Ms Corbett was less than desirable, she has an Insatiable appetite to talk about her
accolades and whine about the should have beens. When all this time she should be trying to TEACH!!!!!!
So if Ms Corbett could take just a moment to LISTEN to the constructive critisism thus being a little less narcissistic she would bring the average GPA of her class up at least 2 points.
Fortunately I am done with her, however she should go back to her "scientific think tank"
Has an appetite for success and enjoys the smell of victory
Very helpful teacher. I love her. She is so nice especially once you really get to know her. She's always willing to help answer your questions too.
Ms. Corbett is a good, and very fair teacher. Doesn't expect too much, but she's willing to help you out. Overall, incredibly nice person.
As an honors Chemistry teacher, she is great. As an AP Chemistry teacher... well that's a different story. I haven't taken the AP test yet, but i'm not feeling very confident about it
FIrst semester was cake. but science fair... common super pointless waist of life. Tests were tough and never really taught the concepts well. nice lady.
She's a really nice lady and a good teacher. However, the honors class is hard because the notes don't fully explain the concept, so you have to work in the book more to stay on top of things.
Her notebook was impossible for me to ever do, and I eventually gave up after spending hours and never even getting a 30/50. Her tests are also insanely hard. Still, she's pretty funny and smart.
She's an excellent teacher who makes you work. you can't cheat like in hunts or dr b.
for normal chem. this class is much more work than bartroms but i think you will actually learn... honors chem isnt that hard either it's normal chem+sci.fair... she is nice and helps you understand
Very confusing explanations, tests are impossible to study for. Nice lady but does not teach.
dont get on her bad side she will grade you harder than every one else... hard class not worth your time good luck to those who get her.
i luv ms corbett! she's the funniest teacher (if u hear her... she makes jokes when no one's really listening), and she really gets personal during ap reviews and stuff... she makes chem easy, too
the normal class is like the honors class, but you dont get the gpa boost. she only has one non-AP, non-honors class, and high scores on tests are in the 80% range. decent person.
Hardest class ull ever take. Interactive Notebook is about as bad as a hemroid.
a wonderful teacher, really knows chemistry and its fun having a spartan (VP alum)
she is the best teacher in the science department and she really cares about us but she still has standards. Great teacher!
