He is a very wonderful teacher, he really cares about his student's education and well being!
Dr. Hawkins is a pretty amazing person, he has inspirational and overall wonderful stories to share about his life. However, in the classroom, most days are spent on working on the previous night's homework (keep in mind this is Honors Chemistry). He usually saves lectures for the last 5-10 minutes of class, but he is indeed very helpful if you have a question and will be kind to anyone and everyone, even if he doesn't know you.
Pray that you get him for HChem!
Dr Hawkins was a terrible teacher when I had him, at points he was very irrational and put students on the spot by yelling at them rather than speaking to them one on one and having a better understanding as to why he feels the way in the situation. The only reason his class is so easy is because he pretty much hands out extra credit and students don't even need to try.
"Learning opportunities" not the P word. Incredible teacher, he is a must have for HChem.
Dr Hawkins is probably the most caring teacher in the school
If you take honors chemistry, you need Hawkins. He is so cool. He lets you do late work for full credit if you go into his class and make it up while he is present. Sometimes he will yell and be moody, but he really cares about all of his students and gives you points for everything you do on your tests. Honestly, he's a great teacher, i wish i could have him again.
First things first I love and respect Dr. Hawkins, he is a very knowledgeable teacher with a passion for both chemistry and teaching. He always greets us hi, even if we're not his students. His class is super easy because of the "Learning Opportunities" and quizzes, which make it almost impossible not to get a 100 or above (a lot of my peers have above 100 percent). However he kind of expects us to know everything and gets mad if we don't Overall great person, okay teacher.
Dr. Hawkins is extremely nice but honestly, he screams a lot, he complains about his honors students and how they should get out of honors and he gets really of topic a lot and expects you to know everything.
Mr. Hawkins is probably one of the best teachers i have had at Sonora he is a great teacher! A lot of the stuff we learned in that class helps in physics and ap/ib bio
He is the nicest teacher i have ever had. He is always there to help you if you ever need extra help. And hes super funny which is a plus :)
Certainly the best science teacher at Sonora, with Wilson being second, and Oliver being third; it seems like all the science teachers try to compete for who's as good as Hawkins haha.
he taught us everything just from the wksts and his tests were exactly the same and b/c of him i scored advanced. he's easy and chill :) <3
NEVER boring! Getting to personally know him is the best suggestion I can give. I'm still good friends w/him even though I graduated 06. Taking his classes inspired me to want to teach.
Hawkins is one of the best teachers I have ever had, even though I have had him for not even two months. He puts in the time and effort to make sure his students learn.
Greatest Dr. I have ever had the pleasure of being taught by. He has a doctorate in education and won teacher of the year, you can't beat that.
Greatest teacher ever. I have never learned so much from a doctor
Most caring teacher I've ever had!!! He understand his students and he knows how to teach!
I remember his HChem class like it was yesterday, even though I took it back in 1987! He used to yell A LOT! Very quirky persona but entertaining to watch.
Was once voted California Teacher of the Year, if I'm not mistaken.
