She really cares about her students.
This is coming from a student who has had many incredible English teachers up until senior year, who did their job and helped me improve. I simply am here to share my experience with this woman. If she is just "working" to earn money until retirement, then she should find a job that doesn't affect the education/futures of 150 students annually. She has consistently brought up about how she is considering quitting - this is way past due.
(Cont.) She does not give suggestions, but simply puts down students, which discourages them from wanting to improve), and many MANY more reasons. How she was hired to become a professional teacher is beyond me, because she is as unprofessional as it gets. This is not coming from a student that is "mad he got a bad grade on his essay so he is taking it out on an anonymous website", etc.
(cont.) She picks favorites (if you are not one, you will have to work 10x harder to maintain a B in her class), loses all work (many students in my class have suffered numerous times from her poor organization skills), has no knowledge in using technology (she has had to pull students from our class every time to work her computer, which was ultimately a distraction every time for every one in the class, I understand you are used to older times where only textbooks are used, but it is 2014 and
She picks favorites all the time, if she doesn't like you you're screwed.bad bad bad teacher
Had HM in 1990- more passionate and memorable than any of my college English professors. Forgive her eccentricities. she fearlessly takes u out of your comfort zone, forcing you to question and grow.
The best part about Matheson wasn't even that she improved my english skills (although she completely did) it was that she helped me to find myself somewhere along the way. She's real. Thank you, M.
I had Ms. Matheson back in 1994, she was soooooooooooo cool and I learned to appreciate Shakespeare and poetry. She rocks!!!
Ms. Matheson is a great english teacher. I have her for art/lit block and she really knows her stuff. Plus she's a hoot to watch; she screams, sings, dances..
The best English teacher I've had, even after 4 yrs as an Eng major in college.
