I have no idea what happens in class every day as he makes pop culture references that I and the other students are way too young to understand...
Mr Heinitz is an incredibly talented man who teaches Latin and English. He knows more about the English and Latin languages than anyone else I've known. His classes are not that hard and he knows all pop culture made since the time of Virgil.
Mr Heinitz is a great teacher. I would recommend him, he is nice and teaches you a lot.
he the hardest teacher ever but also one of the best tbh + REALLY funny
Mr Heinitz class (if you do it right) will leave you with a radically different understanding of the English Language, you're writing will not improve as much as some other classes but your analysis of English text will be unrivaled to anyone else at foothill high. Sometimes a very difficult class but an overall one of my all time favorites
When I signed up for Freshman Honors English, I expected to become a better writer and learn more about literary works and we did nothing of the sort. He has no interest in helping students, unless they are his favorites, he is very vague with instructions, and causes more confusion than clarity. He doesn't prepare you at all for Sophomore Honors English and he has no grip on standards. I did not only lose knowledge of writing from eight grade, I actually lost all confidence in my writing. 0/10
This class was a roller coaster of emotions. Some days you want to cry in class, some days you're laughing so hard you can't even breathe. He's not hard per say, just really unpredictable. During weekly quizzes the tension in the class is almost palpable. But it the end, it makes for great memories. The class really bonds.
He's a terrible teacher. Switch into Dagen if you ever get the chance.
GREAT TEACHER! Take Brit Lit (English Literature) if you ever get the chance! Such a great class.
He is pretty hard if you cannot understand how his etymology tests work and/or struggle to write clear and concise essays. However if your vocab test sentences are pertinent to NFL football in any way he will give you bonus points, which I did a lo. (FYI do not deride the Oakland Raiders in front of him or he will get cranky). He does give less essays but he grades harsly on them even after you give him tons of drafts. But during finals he is very lenient and grades easy on your in class essays
I started off with a D in his class, failing his etymology tests and getting passing grades on his essays. Then after three weeks or so, after I grasped the format of tests, I started acing them getting over 100% on them. He proofreads essays so make sure that you let him proofread and make changes as much as possible. I did that on my autobiographical and ended up with an A. Overall great teacher and prepares you for harder English classes later.
Not very direct about how to do some of the lessons. Also, goes at a very fast pace in the class even in his non honors classes which makes it hard for students with a regular schedule to throw one of
At first, his freshman honors english class will seem difficult... but you should be able to pick up on the way he does things after one or two tests. He's pretty hilarious, and I've heard he's better
Hon. Freshman English-challenging class. He's super hilarious
It's bad if you get him, once you get used to a great teacher like him no other teacher that you have after him will seem to be even half as great as he is.
If it wasn't for Latin I would have dropped out of high school. Wish I had the guts to tell him. Amazing teacher. I owe him a lot. Probably the best in the school. Hope he never leaves.
Definitely my favorite teacher at Foothill so far! Had him for hnr frosh english and will continue to have him for Latin. Extremely helpful if you have the sense to go to him and connects w/ everybody
Quite possibly the best teacher I had at foothill. Funny, very intelligent, loves what he teaches. :)
I have him for Brit Lit. It isn't too difficult if you know his style of tests. He's hilarious, and controls the class but not in the typical teacher-yelling fashion. Love him even though I got a C first semester!
Mr. Heinitz is a great class. Yes, the vocab tests are hard and you really really need to study A LOT! but still, he rocks, and he has great sense of humor
first essay i got back i got a 4/20 & it started to kick in second semester, vocab=hard U NEED TO STUDY! he's funny really helped my writing, first i despised him, but second semester got used to him
Mr. Heinitz is one of the best teachers on campus and it is a privilege just to have him as one. Your grade is dependent on your 10-page essays and your weekly vocab quizes. No homework, but write wel
You need to have a sense of humor to survive this class. There's never homework, but you need to be an excellent writer to recieve good grades on your 10 page essays.
haha . im taking it like right noww for frosh honors english. i love him cause he's absolutely hilarious..he's tough but ive learned so much!! :]] i love his guts.
Heinitz was TOUGH when i had him as a freshman but he's one of the best teacher's I've ever had. Stick with it, and you'll grow.
One of the best but hardest freshman teachers. The coolest guy ever. Also the funniest teacher I've ever met. He really teaches you to be self-responsible in reading the books.
Mr. Heinitz! Mr. Heinitz! best friends forever! haha
FRESHMAN b VERY afraid. @ 1st, hes gonna dazzle u w/the difficulty of the enlish vocab & then ull b awakened by lit. dont expect 2 get an A unless ur SMART. mayb sem2, but not 1.
i have him for latin and he teaches it great but expects what he knows you can do
I pursued writing in college (and now in my career) because of the solid start I received in his freshman Enligsh class.
frosh eng, latin and then im hoping brit lit with him. fun cause hes so smart, but so hard. worth it to be in his class though
His class is VERY challengin, but you learn a lot without wasting time with busy work.
i had him a while ago -- you will remember him because of how he challenged you. Great teacher!
Hard teacher, but you learn a lot in his class. I enjoyed it. Cool guy once you get to know him.
a little hard, but once you get used it's really not that bad
