I took 3 AP's during my junior year and somehow my stupid English 3A class taught my Sulzycki was my second hardest course that year. It was an insane amount of work for an A class; I'm pretty sure anyone who took English 3A was trying to escape hard english course work. Also, the curriculum for English 3A was analytical essay after analytical essay. It was the most bored, yet stressed out I've ever been in a class. I had no creative liberty in the class. Easily my worst high school decision.
Sulzycki is brutally honest and a harsh grader, but she is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and entertaining. She will (likely) tank your GPA. You will at least get something out of it, she isn't a teacher that grades hard for no reason, she believes that you can do a lot better. She will try to the best of her ability to help you reach that potential. I don't think you should drop if you have her, but be warned that you are in for a tough year in all levels of English. Prepare accordingly.
Yes she is hard if you have her for honors English (I had her sophomore year honors eng2). She knows her stuff, has had loads of experience and she's a funny person. She cares about her students greatly if you show that you're willing to learn and take critique and become a better writer and student. Develop a good relationship w her and it'll be the best learning experience of your high school career. A third of my class dropped and I'm so happy I didn't. Don't drop- learn something.
Sulzycki destroyed my Freshmen GPA. Not one person in my class had an A. Although your GPA will take a hit, you WILL develop as a writer and analytical thinker. I was shocked to see how easy English was after having her. In the long run she is good.
Yes, Mrs. Sulzycki is a hard teacher. But she's a seriously GOOD teacher. I've learned a lot in her class and yeah, my grade isn't an A , but I think my writing has improved a lot this year. She'll be tough on you but you can do well.
A lot of people have problems with Mrs. Sulzycki, I think she's okay. She has a really dry sense of humor (sarcasm) but she's really funny! The only tools you learn are grammatical (not a lot of help with writing unless you conference with her). Her tests are pretty easy as long as you've read the books or made the vocab flash cards. essays and workload.... sorry. A level classes have Hrs work. Essay grades brought my grades down all year... she gave me so much stress. GOOD LUCK.
She is a very harsh grader so do not expect anything in the A range on your first try on any essays. She's extremely tough, a bit too much in my opinion since it impacts our GPA's the same. But you will be pushed to greatly improve. When I went on to contemp after I noticed my writing had really improved and I really respect the improvements that sulzycki caused. Also, the homework really isn't that bad. Overall, expect to be ticked at her grading and annoyed but you will improve.
All you silly freshmen who are posting comments about how much Sulzycki sucks need to shut up because she is actually a very respectable woman. She is by far one of the smartest people I know. Yes, she gives a lot of work and can be a harsh grader, but of all the teachers I've EVER had, I have learned the MOST from her. She really pushes you to improve and will have a lot of respect for you if you work hard. I had her freshman yr, for Res&Lit;, and Contemp American Lit. She is a great teacher.
Literally did not get over a B on a paper all year. People say that if you don't like her, you are lazy, but it's not true. She's just an unfair grader, period. I put in so much effort for that class, and all it did was cause me stress and negatively impacted my GPA. I cannot explain my dislike for her class. She's a fine person out of class, but I don't understand how she can grade so harshly and expect us to keep putting effort in with no reward. Worst class I ever took,
Shes nice, but gives out a lot of homework. Shes a really hard grader and her essays are impossible. Still if you go for extra help shes really good at helping you out, but you have to ask for it.
she is a hard grader but wont give you anything you cant do. plus shes super cool if you get on her good side, shes a good friend to have
Alright, Sulzyck was a fun teacher when she didn't talk about what we were suppose to be talking about. If she doesn't like you you will see her as a mean teacher. She's a tough grader and will fail u
Literally, she was so mean. She was a very hard grader even after I put in so much effort, she gave me such bad grades. Like why does she have to be so mean?
Ms. Sulzycki is great! I enjoyed her class very much. But with the research paper it was just a very stressful and scary time. But other than that she is good at what she does and she is fair... I recommend her.
amazing teacher. a lot of homework, but it's all because she wants to challenge her students. people only say she's difficult because they don't like challenges and expect A level classes to be easy. and it is possible to get an A on a paper in her class. You just have to keep trying. If you show effort, she'll have respect for you. I think she's an extremely fair grader. people are just lazy
She is a really good teacher and is probably one of the best english teachers at staples as far as teaching the material goes, at the same time there is also no doubt that she is the HARDEST teacher here
She is a great teacher, her classes are fun if you have good people in them. But, like every single English teacher to ever exist, it's nearly impossible to get an A on a paper. English teachers just don't give them out. She's really cool if you get to know her and have fun in her class. People who say they don't like her only say it because of the difficult grading.
I wonder if I'll get into college after this ruins my GPA
great teacher. truly cares about her students, but class is extremely boring. one class period feels like an entire day. really drains the energy from me.
Treats my A level class as if it was honors. very hard class, very mean teacher most days yet some days can be bearable. least favorite class ive ever taken
this teacher has to be one of the hardest teachers in Staples. She might be fair, but like I said shes hard
shes honestly the best teacher I've ever had. And i dont say that statement lightly. Really she will push you to new heights. Shes funny, and she lets you joke back. Yes, she is a hard grader, but she prepares you so well for any class you will take in the future. Shes really nice, and helpful. Take her if you can, shes great
She is VERY fair. She's actually a really good teacher, and really helpful She's smart, and she knows what she's talking about! She's hilarious too. If you really want to become a better English student, take her. She's honestly a great teacher.
She is very hard, but very fair. Surprisingly funny and nice both in and out of classroom. She appreciates a conference and is very helpful in them. While you will probably hate her during the year, it is totally worth the pain. I had her for honors sophomore year and got about a B. I'm taking A.P Junior English and actually have a solid A.
I think she's tough, but good. Yes, she has high standards, but she is willing to help you meet them. You can't get away with being lazy...but why would you want to? She knows what she's doing and is pretty entertaining to boot!
very very hard, almost to the point of being just plain unfair. but shes a pretty good teacher and always sticks to her game plan. just do all the work to bring up all your terrible paper grades, becaues they will be terrible.
Scranton forces you to learn. She may be tough, but she's a good teacher with solid principles.
Yes, nice teacher but VERY unfair in grades. The highest grade on my class's final exam was like 80.3%. The midterm exam average was 64%. But it could discipline/prepare you better for future English classes...
Scranton's tough at times but gets really easy by the mid-year point She is really tough in hw-gives a lot, but she is always willing to help if you go and ask for it--she's also really funny at times
She is nice and funny at times, but can be mean at others. Most of the time shes pretty nice. Not even a ton of work, and the tests are pretty easy. But the papers are hard, there hard to write and if you dont do exactly what she wants u get a bad grade.
Not the easiest teacher ever, but one of the cooler teachers at Staples
shes so hard! shes nuts giving us so much work! i have 2 tests in a row and then the beginning of a paper all in 3days!
I felt quite unlucky to have her as a teacher. She grades REALLY hard, I failed the majority of her reading quizzes, and the assignments were brutal.
she is sooooo funny but is one of the hardest teachers I have ever had, but shes really nice and cool
pretty hard, but she helps you a lot and is very understanding. Also, funny during class
