Thirty years later, I can still recite Shakespeare, and Coleridge's "Xanadu", know the meaning of the word "perspicuity", and aced my honors literature courses. Thank you, Spag, for the solid foundation and the way you pushed us. - Christi DeCloedt, Eastern class of '84.
His classes were not easy, and that should not be a criteria here for rating a teacher anyhow. He cxhallanged his students and made them think and accomplish things they did not know they were capable of. One of the best teachers to ever teach in the State of Michigan. 1982 Michigan Teacher of the Year.
10 years after you graduate, the only teacher that you will reference is Mr. Spag. The only things worth remembering are from his class, so appreciate him if you have him.
Top three smartest teachers at Eastern, possible THE smartest. I learned a lot, and not just about English. I felt ahead of the pack in college because of him. I'll miss him!
Spag is one of the reasons I became a high school teacher. Eastern won't be the same with out him, he was the absolute best. I wish him the best!
an amazing man and teacher. brilliant. hilarious. passionate. i still have all the notes from his classes 15 years later.
Absolutely, hands down, the best teacher I've ever had. Hey Mr. Spag, your words have stayed with me, 10 years down the line.
