I thought he read my mind... but I'll always have a healthy dose of skepticism.
You need to experience Mr.Kim. Not only in his classroom, but in the world at large. In class, he can analyze a text or film like no human can! And I mean no human since I can't fine it anywhere in the net. Try googling the stuff he breaks down. Nothing. That's why he lets you use even your phone to pass his exams! Insane! Outside the classroom, he's likewise insane. He once treated me to a Starbucks frap by guessing the favorite beverage of the cashier there! Orange crush! What in the world?!
if he is normal, what's abnormal? if he's ordinary, what's extraordinary? what human being can do what he does? the man's no man!!
Nobody should be raised to a godly status. You all are easily impressed. He's just a regular guy that likes to have fun. He tries his best to come off as mysterious and deep. Is he either? And he likes to entertain.
Il Kim is a funny, scary, intelligent man that will change your life forever (for the better). This mind reading god deserves his own gospel. I was lucky enough to get him for both semesters and that is the greatest blessing I've ever received in life no exaggeration. His class is pretty unique and he goes in greater depth then any other English teacher I've ever had. His tests are hard but in a good way you have to think and remember in order to succeed.
He is the best English teacher I've ever had. His vast knowledge of Philosophy and his way of teaching makes the class extremely fun. If you hate English (like I used to), he is the only one who can make you love it.
Hes a very intelligent guy, but kinda strange. He makes honors enligsh 12 seem like AP Lit because his tests are so difficult. He does do alot to prepare you and he is funny and nice. But there are strange things about him.
He taught you how to look at life and litterateur in a completely different way and has the best stories of any teacher I've ever seen
He's the best teacher at Churchill in my opinion. His class is pretty difficult but it's very interesting and you learn a lot. You will walk out of his class having a different view on literature and film. He's also insanely funny and he made the class fun with his crazy stories. He definitely maximizes the fun.
Although he can be mysterious at times, Mr. Kim is the best teacher I have ever had. He taught me not only about literature, but also how to deep read. He is bright, has a great sense of humor, and he has a great system to keep his students interested and participating.
Smart guy but grades too harshly.
Mr. Kim makes all assignments extremely difficult. He tends to favoritize a lot and gives out grades based on how much he likes a student, not based on what they earn. He tells insane stories and can be VERY moody. Some days he refuses to teach and gives us nearly impossible busy work on topics we haven't learned yet that count as formative or summative points. You will either love him or hate him as there is no in between.
Yeah I agree with "brilliant" and let me throw in "ridiculous." What you expect from a Mensa member!
Brilliant guy, with an excellent class. But his mind works on a different level and it makes all assignments and exams crazy hard. You will get D's that will magically become B's because of curves. Not an easy class, but extremely interesting
He's a very shady character...knows what he's teaching...and knows what he shouldn't...does a little of everything...even tossed a cat!
Mr. Kim is a very smart man, but the way he thinks is not the way most, even normal people think, and that becomes a problem on quizzes and tests and basically any assignment. His assessments are ridiculous, and for some reason he doesn't understand that when the average grade on a test is a D and no student gets an A there's a problem. Also, Mr. Kim has the wildest interpretations of literature, and he expects his students to read like he does, which is extremely difficult
The man, the myth, and the legend! Possibly one of the few teachers who know cinema and can decipher it at its core. Amazing!
by far the best person/teacher that works in our school
when you take his class, you realize not all teachers are created equal. he is something else! you cannot fool him. i've fooled many teachers but not mr. kim. he's a monster!
Great teacher. His lesssons are so deep, sometimes it's hard to remember it all. Very nice and skilled in other things. Has great stories as well.
mr kim is a really good teacher. i feel like he could teach all 7 of my classes, and probably do a better job then my current teachers. You learn so much more than English in his class, you learn real life application.
He is a good teacher. I love Mr. Kim. He is interesting to listen to. He has great stories. He has tough assignment. He is helpful. He is funny.
very interesting, relavant, provocative! at times even inspiring!
I miss him. He was great. The only class I didn't fall asleep in all last semester. He doesn't give busy work. and he doesn't hold your hand through every single thing.
Mr. Kim is one of the most amazing English teachers ever! He knows about just about anything you care to ask and you leave class knowing loads more than just English. The nice thing is that all you really have to do is pay attention to his lectures and you should do okay. And it's not hard because they're so interesting.
perhaps the worst teacher ever. what is he teaching??? and what does that have to do with anything? disorganized. rambles. will lecture about modernism and existentialism, but the class leaves wondering what they are. no system. never get back tests or papers to learn from. it's pointless being there.
Mr. Kim is an amazing teacher. He's knowledgeable and has a very cool personality. His teaching ethic/philosophy is very unique and agreeable. The Open-Note assessments can be hard at times; they keep your analytical skills in good shape. He's a very cool guy. Additionally, he listens to Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails.
Mr. Kim is unlike any teacher I've had. I come in a student and leave a scholar! I can't help it! I am now beginning to see films the way he does and read the books the way he does.
He knows what he's talking about. In the boy's bathroom someone marked "teachers < computers." Not the case with Mr. Kim!
He's one of the smartest person I've met. He pretty scary. He does not lecture from notes, he doesn't pass out photocopies from textbooks or some else's work. he knows things from the top of his head: dates, names, works, theories, pool, motorcyles, food, art, philosophy, whatever. iI feel I can ask him any question.
I don't know whether he's a combination of howe and payne, but he is funny and he is weird. one thing he is not is easy. he's deceptive. he presents extremely complex ideas in the most accessible ways. original! and your right, he's open notes assessments are not easy.
funny guy. pretty weird. a cross of ms. howe and mr. payne. and dont be fooled and get excited by his open-note quizzes... they're harder than non open-note quizzes! also instead of havign a lesson to teach, he rambles and gives whatever names/dates/boring stuff comes into his head at that moment.
