Honors chemistry...easiest thing ever if you pay the slightest attention and care about your work. Slack off, you'll probably hate him because you don't understand anything or try; he hates that. He's a great teacher, as long as you do your work.
I find Mr. Merinar to be one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is the sole reason that I survived high school and College. Without his expertise I would have been unable to make it in the college atmosphere. So to you Mr. Merinar, I salute you, hoping that someday you may read this and understand where I am coming from.
He is the reason I am a Chemistry major. I was awful in honors chem but he was always there to help me. His class is hard, but he's a great teacher. That school is so used to watering everything down, but he challenges you and makes you think. He saw potential in my poor grades and convinced me to take AP and was there every day to work with me. He's definitely over qualified for high school and should be a professor. He's tough, but a very funny guy. Just make an effort, he'll help you!
Extremely good at his job. can shift topics randomly. Pay attention and you'll survive. Loves trivia. One day he will be upbeat and helpful but down and bothersome the next. But we all have our days. Creative. Can be fun. Very opinionated. Debates and conversations are usually one sided (doesn't like to see others points of view or hear them out.)
Mr. Merinar knows chemistry very well. He's actually over-qualified for his job. Sometimes I think that makes him feel bored, like the stuff he's teaching is easy (which, sometimes it isn't!) but if you ask him for help, he's always willing to give you a different way of looking at things.
He's a good teacher, but sometimes goes into random stories, such as Schrodinger's cat. Not benificial to the class, but intresting nonetheless.
Personally, I really ejoyed having Mr. Merinar teach my Chemistry class. I felt like he explained things very thoroughly, and his brutal honesty was always comical and relieving.
really good teacher, really smart, makes science fun in a weird way
Merinar really knows his subject. I think he is probably the smartest teacher at cmhs.
Merinar is a great teacher. He allows you to think at a higher level an duse you r brain for once unlike most other classes our school offers.
hes very nice..actually funny but chemistry isnt the greatest subject
i think his class is entirely too hard and he gives people grades they don't deserve due to favortism!!!
Mr. Merinar is a good teacher, but his tests are insanely hard.
Merinar is the man. He is a wonderful teacher and shows us completely constructive films throughout the year. He is filled with compassion for all who enter his room. He is also standing right behind me like a specter.
Even though he makes fun of me all the time in class he is a good teacher and tries his best to help his students get the most from the lesson he is teaching. Also he keeps us entertained.
hes a nice guy that makes alot of good jokes. but whatever you do, pay attention because what he teaches you is going to be on his tests. they are hard
If you actually want to learn anything about chemistry, you have to take Merinar, but he's awful. He has no respect for females and there is very little "teaching" done. He plays favorites and his tests are extremely tough.
The tests and assignments were way too hard for high school- even if it is AP. There was very little teaching in the classroom. He would be an okay college prof.
There is nothing wrong with AP Chem. , just don't be stupid, and Merinar is one of the best teachers you will find. He just doesnt bend to everyones needs. Dont hate him for that
Merinar may be hard, but I realized how much more I learned than Glances class. He teaches you things about Chemistry, Glance teaches your the weather. I would say, take Merinar.
He doesn't teach just expects you to know things when your in honors. He is way too concerned about being funny and "cool".Try teaching.Needs to shawdow a real teacher.
I think his tendency to give ridiculously long take-home tests saved my grade. Missing 60 isn't as bad when there are 200 questions! He expected a LOT from his AP kids though.
Mr. Merinar can be a funny and interesting guy but he is not cut out for teaching. He is not patient enough with High School students.
This guy is one of the funniest teachers I've had...yes it's hard, but remember his famous curves!
I wish he wouldn't assume we know so much. This IS the first year I've ever had chemistry! Take it slower- that's not babying us! I can hardly take notes!
Gotta love him. His tests and class are hard, but hes halarious. Pretty sweeeet
I asked him for help one time. He said don't worry about it, you can show your abilities on the test tomorrow. The class was very stressful.
Merinar is better than any other science teacher in our stinkin school!
