Ms. Lucash is so great!!! she just wants you to do your best and bring out the best from you. She clearly knows what she's talking about. I haven't taken IR but I'm sure it'll be a fun class.
such an amazing teacher. Although the workload is difficult and her course is very hard, she is honestly one of the smartest people you will ever meet, and it is a privilege to learn from her. She knows the material she is teaching like the back of her hand. As a bonus, she is hilarious, interesting, and an extremely nice person. 10/10 would recommend.
Fantastic. She's an awesome teacher
Ms. Lucash makes international relations interesting and challenging, but the workload is NOT soul-crushing -- I find myself looking forward to the nightly readings (texts ranging from Thucydides to Huntington) and enjoying projects and even tests. If you like studying current events and history, definitely take international relations. Even if you don't, this class is so much fun you should probably just take it anyway.
Absolutely amazing teacher. She makes understanding dense IR material so much easier. Her test formats are always announced ahead of time, so there aren't ever any surprises. She's also super relaxed -- we've read bad reviews from this site to her in class and she laughed along with us. (I really hope she wasn't crying on the inside, we all love her) 10/10.
my favorite teacher ever. she seems extremely hard, but if you get to know her, you realize she is actually one of the best teachers you will ever have...
The workload was extensive and the work was difficult, but Ms. Lucash made the work much less deplorable with her hilarious comments and occasional digressions. She is very helpful and open when asked questions about the assignments.
I'm in IR and I would definitely recommend this class. Ms. Lucash makes the class what it is. The readings can be dense, confusing, and long, but Ms. Lucash balances everything with her hilarious stories and random comments. It's true she does digress and has "snickers" moments, but that doesn't matter because I still walk out of her class having learned more than in my other classes. Also, on Fridays we read current events articles, which is a nice break from all the theory readings.
I got an A in IR and I don't think (at least, for her seniors) that she's unfair or too difficult, but I also really don't think IR was worth the hype. Everyone told me it would be so wonderful and we legit spent half of the time gossiping about her life, other teachers, movies that were out, etc. (This is in, like, first semester too.) On a personal level very nice to people she likes. Participate a lot and you'll get a good grade.
JANA LUCASH IS THE MOST AMAZING WOMAN EVER. I look forward to her class every day; she is ridiculously funny. Take IR! You will love it.
One of the worst history teachers I have ever had. This woman does not deserve to give any one of her students a grade because she rarely gets anything done in class. If you're not a person who knows the material inside and out already, be prepared to switch out immediately.
Her tests are very difficult, but if you participate and don't procrastinate TOO much you'll do fine. And she knows the kids who aren't history wizzes, and does try to help them out. She's the kind of teacher that if you never speak, and once in a blue moon will raise your hand, she'll see you immediately and give you a chance to improve your grade.
I was silent all year, and still loved her. If she has "favorites", it's the people who speak often, and well, and know the stuff. I have never had a more difficult, or more enjoyable, history class.
Definitely not an easy teacher but she really knows her stuff. People dislike her because she likes certain kids, but in reality, she likes you if you have a voice and try to participate. I love her.
The BEST - she truly loves teaching. Tough, but you can fail tests and come out with an A. Yes, she may pick favorites but they're based on merit: if you can make and support an argument, you're fine.
A really fun teacher who'll make you interested in history. Don't worry about her tests, and as long as you possess a smidge of passion for the topic
I am shocked that Ms. Lucash got so many positive reviews. Her tests are impossible, I almost think she likes seeing her students suffer. She is obnoxious and rude, and will make you cry.
You'd have to work really hard and actually like this class if you want to survive. Tests are usually very hard. Usually, it's hard to follow the discussion in class unless you really like the subject and are good at it. Otherwise, it's gonna get rough if you aren't too strong in social studies.
Jana Lucash is a goddess. That's pretty much all you need to know.
She is very hard to read and is one of the only teachers who mark you down for participation. Like another person said, she has her little group of kids which she loves and basically ignores the rest.
totally tried to be cool. has a certain group of kids whom she loves, like too too much. try to either get her to love you or to stay under the radar. i have never seen someone play favorites more. i have had her more than once, which is so not fair. that shouldn't have to happen with lucash or anyone else for that matter.
Her class is definitely not easy, but she actually tries and goes the extra mile to make you understand and gives a fair amount of time for everything. Even though her tests are really hard, they're only part of your grade, and you can get awful grades on her tests, but do well on her essays and do homework, you'll still get a good grade. Her anecdotes and thorough understanding of the material makes class fun. She's also one of the most human teachers, if you can get what I mean.
RIDIC DIFFICULT. in the beginning of the year i felt like was drowning in work for her, but she's lightening up now. tests are SO hard, but if you participate and do your homework it balances it out. she grades pretty nicely on projects/papers, which is good :)
Totally moody. You seriously never know what you are going to get. Just don't take it personally and try to be a favorite. Only helpful to the kids she likes...the popular click!
Do your freakin' homework...enjoy the class...participate...and who cares if you get 70s on the tests...an A- is still easily possible with good participation + hw, which is not that hard. Tests + essays literally count 33% total, so don't sweat it, srsly. Most interesting + engaging history class ever. Ms. Lucash is awesome!!
ms lucash is zooooooo coooool!!!!!! i luv her!!!!! she da bomb...
She is really moody and totally plays favorties. Just walk on eggshells around her, and avoid her if she is in a surly mood and you'll be fine. i think it sorta sucks that you never know what will set her off on a given day.
totally plays favorites. she likes the kewl kidz. if one of them does something it is fine, but if i do the smae thing, she goes ape
She really overdoes it with the workload. My child is often very upset only about this class.
NASTY. MoODY. plays favorites. sometimes sweet as pie, other times she'll bite your head off.
coolest person ever. her tests are killer, but she places very little importancec on them. shes SO smart and a great teacher. she can be nasty in class, but outside she is SOOOOOO nice!
She's a really good teacher who's really into details. She really cares about her students and does her best to prevent us from failing. Beware of her tests.
VERY GOOD TEACHER! She jokes around sometimes and that makes her awesome. She is always in a great mood and never loses her temper. Sometimes you THINK she loses her temper but she always laughs after
shes good teacher, not like chilin with the kids kool but shes good at teachin
Ms. Lucash is a great teacher, fun sometimes but just a really good teacher-Aaron
She's so energetic, so even if you're running on a few hours of sleep you stay involved in class. It's lecture, but when she talks it doesn't feel like a lecture, it's more like narration in a fun, interesting way. Her tests are really hard, but if you study you can learn the stuff and you can do well. A lot of hw, but again if you put in the time you find the class really rewarding.
she gives us a lot of work and asks tough questions, but she's a great teacher
definitly one of the best teachers ive ever had.I have learned so much and global has gone from my least favorite to my most favorite class.Shes very challenging but even if you dont do great on tests you can do well by participating alot. And to those of you to say that she plays favorites, she favors those who participate, you cant just absorb everything and never put it to use. Go Wolverines!
totally plays favorites and once you are on the "bad" list that is where you stay. she fully overreacts to things by some and ignores the same stuff from others. smart, but her opinions and favorites should not be obvious.
i'm not sure how anyone could think she's not killer cuz shes definitely the hardest teacher at the school but its okay cuz shes awesome
Shes awsome, make u work a ton, but shes awsome!!!!!!!!!!
shes the best teacher ive every had. she teaches me so much things and shes nice
She's an awesome teacher although i had her fro only like 2 months now she taught me more than i would learn in my old middle school!
I've never had mslu$ as a teacher, but as a person she's great. I hear she's very hard, but i'm sure its worth it in the end
I LOVE MS. LUCASH!!! SHE CHANGED MY LIFE AND IS ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING TEACHERS I'VE EVER HAD. WITHOUT HER I WOULDN'T KNOW ANYTHING
GO BLUE!!! Jana holler at me when you're in ann arbor, come out for a football game, you know who it is
one of the best teachers i've had yet. she's very dedicated to her students. & to "She makes 10th grade history so harder...." yr not doing well b/c you cant speak english properly
She is the best, most devoted SS teach we have. She expects so much because she thinks we can do it.
the most overrated teacher at hunter. i have not learned a single worth while thing all semester. she only teaches worthless facts--TRIES to make you do badly o
Good teacher, with a sharp side. A little bit moody. We never know what to expect when she walks into the classroom.
The reason I ever read anything history-related now is because of her amazing way of making texts and books interesting. You only meet teachers like these once
she makes sure global studies isnt boring but i dont like her policy where she wont raise your grade and will only lower other people's grades
awesome awesome teacher. though she makes you do the work, it isn't KILLER unless you procrastinate to a period before.
i love ms. lucash! she is the best social studies teacher ever! i really like how she gets into her lessons. the work is tough, but it's worthwhile.
I don't get it. She gives way too much work and I never get her lessons. I hate her class and she totally picks favorites.
Awesome teacher, clear, but doesn't like writing on the blackboard. Lets us out late, and gives hard tests, but she's always ready to talk to you after clas
Ms. Lulu is super cool. She's great teacher that really loves SS. She's nice, but she gives out a lot of work. I hope that I get her again in 10th grade.
well, the students in said org are certainly not acting that way! they oughta man up and do their freakin jobs!
i think she is doing a great job with go, given how few go people do anything. whoever wrote the previous statement must not be in the office that often
i really like her and think she is a very good teacher- she understands when people struggle and i think that is important--but what did she do that was so bad?
She overloads on work, but she is a nice and cool teacher.
She didn't really teach me anything last year, and her slanderous accusations against a fellow student showed a lack of trust and experience.
she is mean and she totally has her favorites...not me though.
I only had her for a semester last year which makes me SO ANGRY. She's a great teacher and when i see her in the halls I make conversation. Therefore, shes cool
I love her! she actually understands us and treats us like people. and i learned a lot too.
Ms.Lucash is really nice, and she's pretty easy. Plus, she's young and probably understands us better.
she was very nice but she didnt really teach me anything and she made a very insulting accusation to another student in my class
She's one of the best teachers I've ever had. She treats me like a person, not just like any other student. too bad she's not teaching ninth grade. :(
she's one of the sweetest people i've ever met...period. she's so nice and she talks to me like a human and she's a thorough teacher...
shes hard but nice and you have to do your homework in her class
