I liked her. I liked the circular class where people faced one other. (plus i could see maria better!) Sometimes my views differed hers, but she never treated me like Coker did!

Stop whining; she's one of the few of teachers at Whitman who adequately prepares students for college.

I agree that her teaching style may work well for a specific type of student, but she very openly makes no effort to even attempt to encourage students that do not do well under her method. She chooses favorites, and singles out others to embarass and even ridicule. Students who are shy, or naturally quiet, do not do well in her class, and she is unapologetic in her decision to stick unfailingly to her method and exclude them from learning.

The bottom line is some people absolutely love her and some people hate her. If you love her, she will be the best teacher you'll ever have. If you don't, she'll make your life hard. My recommendation is to start out with her and if you don't like it, switch to someone else. Her teaching methods are unorthodox but she puts a lot of trust in the students and you have to be a real outside-the-box type thinker to succeed.

One of the most wonderful teachers that I had during my time at Whitman. I can still remember much of what she taught me, and value the lessions on hard work, critical thinking, and determination that she instills in each of her students.

I'm a former Walt Whitman HS student, and I can honestly say that Mrs. Eagleton is one of the finest teachers I've had the opportunity to learn from. While certainly a difficult teacher, her enthusiasm is unmatched. She is an inspiration to her students, and always challenges them. If have a strong work ethic, and would like to learn how to think independently and critically, then this is the teacher for you. Great job Mrs. Eagleton!

Not for everyone, but for those who really want to learn about how to think and aren't afraid to participate, she can teach you more than any other teacher you've had before. Not easy, but you learn from the work if you don't blow it off.
