I liked her. I liked the circular class where people faced one other. (plus i could see maria better!) Sometimes my views differed hers, but she never treated me like Coker did!
will still to this day be my favorite teacher. i love the way she reads aloud. i love her challenging nature. she is a brilliant woman.
Stop whining; she's one of the few of teachers at Whitman who adequately prepares students for college.
I agree that her teaching style may work well for a specific type of student, but she very openly makes no effort to even attempt to encourage students that do not do well under her method. She chooses favorites, and singles out others to embarass and even ridicule. Students who are shy, or naturally quiet, do not do well in her class, and she is unapologetic in her decision to stick unfailingly to her method and exclude them from learning.
The bottom line is some people absolutely love her and some people hate her. If you love her, she will be the best teacher you'll ever have. If you don't, she'll make your life hard. My recommendation is to start out with her and if you don't like it, switch to someone else. Her teaching methods are unorthodox but she puts a lot of trust in the students and you have to be a real outside-the-box type thinker to succeed.
Hated her immensley and the feeling was mutual. She says she holds no biases but its a complete lie. She picks on people for no reason, and is very condescending. She has little respect for students and often makes them feel stupid and incompetent if they dont understand the material. I had excelled in every other English course except for hers. I am now an English major and love it, but hated it in her class. I never thought I'd enjoy it again.
One of the most wonderful teachers that I had during my time at Whitman. I can still remember much of what she taught me, and value the lessions on hard work, critical thinking, and determination that she instills in each of her students.
I'm a former Walt Whitman HS student, and I can honestly say that Mrs. Eagleton is one of the finest teachers I've had the opportunity to learn from. While certainly a difficult teacher, her enthusiasm is unmatched. She is an inspiration to her students, and always challenges them. If have a strong work ethic, and would like to learn how to think independently and critically, then this is the teacher for you. Great job Mrs. Eagleton!
just confusing about every assignment and strict just for the sake of being strict, especially to people she does not like
The best teacher i've ever had. Shes the only teacher at the school that actually teaches you to think. independence is a virtue- take her advice.
Probably one of the 3 best teachers I ever had - and I'm way out of high school now.
If you enjoy J.D. Salinger, your non-judgemental attitute toward religion, and/or M&Ms... she will destroy your English for you.
The devil cause she aims to humiliate but her techniques do work
Favoritism ? Yes, she favored people who worked hard and were interested in the material. And she had no patience for fools. Or freeloaders.
She is difficult, yes, but if you do you work she will respect you. The complainers tend to be the ones who don't do their work and don't participate in class.
I seem to be the only one to like her...and I do...she should run for president
I feel alive when I leave her class. I've learned more from her about analyzing literature than any other teacher at Whitman.
if you do your work, it shows, she's awesome if you do your part
i love her! very dramatic, but makes English interesting. i'm learning so much!
hard as hell, unclear, cant ask questions to, but motivates and makes you think
very hard, made me cry and hate english, but class is never boring
SO MUCH FUN! VERY HARD, BUT ACTUALLY MAKES YOU THINK UNLIKE EVERY OTHER TEACHER!
little scary....but makes u think, and learn...i feel bad for the quiet types
her blatant favoritism was despicable. glad i was one of the kids she liked!
Helpful to her "buddies." Never once used her writing tips in college. Terrible
Awesome teacher!!! I'm way out of college & I still use her writing advice!!!!!!
Mrs. Eag;eton gave me an F on a paper that was handed in on time and edited?
She's WONDERFUL. She's the first teacher I've had that's emphasized THINKING.
Makes students enjoy thinking and learning. Can be very moody.
Mrs. Eagleton is fantastic! makes class interesting... keeps you on your toes
Mrs. Eagleton is the reason I am an Enlish major.Best teacher I ever had.
Definitely two tacos short of a mexican combination platter but she was cool.
She was one of my favorite teachers-tough, but fair, and she rally cared about h
Some love her, some hate her. Get on her good side if you can!
Challenging and unclear, she polarizes opinion--I thought she was superb.
She's hard, mysterious, but unbelievably great teacher.
Tension, pressure, frustration, and heartbreak.... is all I got from Eagleton.
She's definitely got a lot of personality! But she was the best teacher I had
Hurt students learning with unfair treatment and ego the size of Montana.
