One of the best teachers I've ever had. Ms. Summers is utterly awesome. She makes learning hiragana and katakana very easy through the use of visual and pictorial diagrams. The instruction is then reinforced through homework and reading passages based on the things you learned that day. If you talk to her on a personal level, you'll see that many of the things she's been through reflects how she approaches instruction - a very holistic approach. If you get her, it'll be a memorable experience!
She's a very nice teacher. She's very polite like most of the Japanese do. I like how she keeps her classroom clean all the time. This class is literally the only class which I don't have to worry about if there's gums underneath the desks. :D Yay! People, let's be considerate and make our classrooms clean!
Shes an amazing teacher with a great sense of humor.
Easy class. Don't get on Ms. Summer'school bad side.
She is a fantastic teacher and is funny. PS: She gets bothered if you leave things hanging off your desk ;)
She a normal teacher...she's funny, know's what she doing...yeah...nothing really OMG AMAZING, I MUST PLOW DOWN THE SCHOOL OFFICE JUST SO I CAN GET HER!!!!!!!!!! teacher, but you learn what's needed, get prepared for AP Japanese or college Japanese.....the norm.....hard tests....semi heavy work load.....your normal class at AHS
Mrs.Summers is awesome. As long as you do the homework, You'll be fine. She is a good teacher, Overall.
P.S if you don't do your home work, the tests will be hard
She has an accent....um she treats us like children.....she does give a little extra credit....OH I HATED TO FINAL PROJECT!!!!! IT TOOK SO LONG TO MAKE AND MATERIALS ARE SOOO EXPENSIVE,,,,
She teaches very well, but her American accent is a down side. When I practice my Japanese at home, my mother (who took Japanese for 8 years from an actual Japanese professor) is constantly correcting my accent. She said the teaches accent is pretty heavy.....soooooooo.
A very free-spirited teacher depending on the circumstances and is pretty funny, especially when she explains circumstances where you shouldn't use a phrase. I really enjoy her stories she tells about her life in Japan. Our class likes to joke around with her a lot and takes it very light-heartedly. Her hiragana flash cards are very funny and you can tell she really enjoys teaching and cares for her students.
Mrs. Summers is a lovely teacher. She is very kind and caring but will not put up with disobedience. She will tell you everything you want to know about Japan. She is very good at teaching and doesn't bother with over complicating the lesson. She's a great teacher and I wish she taught every level so that I could have her every year. Oh, and just so you know, don't chew gum in her class. She will catch you.
With the addition of AP Japanese, the upper Japanese classes (as well as most language classes) have become a study fest. Field trips are non-existant, and leisure time has been given to the last 15 minutes of class (On Fri only - Per. 4 gets 10 min APN). Kanji is increasingly important and so is rushing through all the chapters as well as studying really hard by yourself. In fact, I have H-USH and APES and I gotta honestly say with those 2, heck every other class, combined I still study more in this class.
She plays favorites, and will start monitoring you more often if you're bad.
she does talk down to students sometimes and play favorites, but everyone does that. She is just a typical grown person who believes she knows a lot of things that teenagers don't even understand.
I learn alot while I was in her japanese class. fun class. I hated her though when I TA'd for her. I rarely helped with teaching japanese. i was more like her maid.
Ms. Summers actually makes Japanese exciting, especially in the end. It might seem challenging at first glance but it gets enjoyable later.
Mrs Summers is the coolest, her teachings are so fun epecially Fridays...DRAMA TIME!!!! Yay Mrs Summers!!!!
I really like her, she is one of my favorite teachers.
i think mrs. summers is one of the coolest teachers.. she doesnt like to argue with her students and the work that she makes us do just helps us to further understand the material..
She rocks, very clear, funny - I just transferred to Arcadia and so far Ms. Summers is my favorite teacher.
Horrible teacher, makes it seems as though the subject she is teaching is your number one priority. Talks down to students that she does not like and plays favorites.
Tries to be funny. Nobody finds her funny. She speaks so condescendingly. She acts if all of her students are 3rd graders. She should realize she's teaching highschool students.
A great Japanese teacher who knows the subject well. Encouraged me to continue learning Japanese.
had her for 2 years.. nice teacher.. fun.. watch drama every friday~ :D ... and she likes ME..~~ ho ho
Be aware of what your students are saying about the program. The program is dying. Do something about it.
will learn a lot. however, she makes u do repetitive/embarrassing assignments. not the best way to introduce someone to Japanese.
She's nice in the first quater, then she starts pickin' on peoples... im one of them... she sent me to the deans because i was complaining how she all over my back...
can`t teach clearly, and is mean at times. her hand motions are horrific. tries too hard to be funny, and DEFiNiTELY has favorites and UNfavorites. i`m one of the UNfavorites. -.-
wow she`s mean at times. and her and her hand-motions... *shudders* she tries too hard to be funny and can`t really teach well.
Teach the upper levels. The program will suffer if you don't.
I heard that she can only teach level 1. She doesn't know how to teach the upper levels because she doesn't know enough.
Great teacher. She interacts with the class and I never find her class boring.
first day of japanese class, she wants everyone to get it, so she repeats something like 10x, but in the end like towards end of school year she is strict
WONDERFUL TEACHER! super clear, very fun. best language teacher i ever had. taught me a lot. :)
best japanese teacher!!! funny, nice, caring, and does not go too fast for beginners
i had her for freshman japanese and had her again for soph. she's the best. i actually learn something in this class
good teacher...i learn a lot from her...still remember a lot of japanese...that's amazing...
quite annoying and steriotypical of people at times...but she still teaches good japanese
ii sensei! Watch out when she dances and sings at the karaoke field trip! She teaches japanese so well, that I remember a lot from Japanese one, unlike the tons of stuff I forget from Misawa.
Ms. Summers so nice n koo!!! I luv ms. summers!!! i'm getting an A too =D
alot of people say shes mean...but shes never mean during 2nd period
very fun! more like a fun baby sitter than anything else. strict, but cool!
Ms summers is awesome!! i love taking japanese w/ her! she makes it fun!

This was one of my favorite classes! Not too difficult, but you learn alot!
really REALLY easy in the beginning.. and then she crams everything in the end..

she is nice, but....too much hard work....not worth it
shes not a reli serious teacher, hw isnt a big deal u'll like the class
its a class that can make u stay awake! n she likes coffee! : )
Cool person.Great teacher.had a blast and will again
