Ms. Strauss was one of my favorite teachers at Bronx Science. She taught me 11th grade, algebra and trigonometry in the 1973-1974 school year.
Friendly, outgoing, helpful, popular. Cares about everyone and puts in a lot of effort. I would study with her again.
i thought she was a great teacher who really went over things thoroughly. she did have some mood swings at times which were annoying but overall she really prepared me for hprecalc.
a horrible person. anyone writing good reviews is GOOD AT MATH. there are those kids who already know everything and she loves them and uses them as an excuse to not teach everyone else. asking questi
Absolutely one of the BEST teachers I ever had in Science, period. She's smart, humble, funny (well, she tries :D), and nice. It's always the good who go, though. WE WILL MISS YOU, MS. STRAUSS!
She is one of the best teachers ever. She is very fair and a very nice person. Definitely one of the best math teachers at Bronx Science.
Best teacher ever, i'm going to miss her so much, her tests aren't that bad, and she gives awesome extra credit and can accept when you deserve it
Her tests are not easy, but she's very willing to provide extra help if you need it. She also has a great sense of humor. :)
she is so hard; she makes fun of you if you dont understand something before going over it and helping you. Her tests are hard. her favorite line is "UNBELIEVABLE!"
her class may be tough now but it's totally worth ityou will do fine on the regents really
Very hard. Not impossible to get good grade. Just make study sheets and STUDY. Do her homework. Spend an hour a day on math MUST. I had Strauss, Hannon, Kagan. Survived with 96 GPA. you can do it too
If you pay attention to her class, you should do well. Just do your homework and classwork like in a regular class. If you take your time, you will understand the concepts. M5H and Math Team :D
OH, HEAVENS, MS. STRAUSS! YOU SCARED ME ON THE FIRST DAY! I don't think ANYONE is ready for her class, not even the smartest sophomores! :-( Here comes a loooooooooong year.
Please, if you are reading this, Ms. Strauss - go SLOWER when you're teaching and give FEWER, EASIER problems on tests. You're TOO hard and need to give everyone a break every now and then. Thanks.
tests are hard to do and hard to finish. one question can be worth over ten points and she should give better reviews. during class, everything seems really rushed.
she is easy as long as you pay attention, but she has favorite and ppl she disliks, she yells at, and she never smiles at people she dislikes and discourages me, she doesnt like me but gave me a 93 so
i thought the honors class would be hard but if i had a good teacher i wouldnt mind. shes not a good teacher and if youre struggling she doesnt try to help you she tells you that you should transfer out of honors. its been two months and she still needs to look at her stupid book to remember what my name is.
she's not very understanding. she moves rediculously fast and the majority of the time you have to teach yourself a lot of the material. she makes handouts that are very helpful and the multiple choice questions on her tests are tricky. she loves the yankees don't DARE say you like the mets. her jokes are horrible .. just laugh
Ms. Strauss is a hard teacher namely because she goes over relatively little of the work in class. She often responds to questions by yelling at another group of kids in the classroom for talking. Also, I find her "bathroom book" policy and her idea of taking 2 points off your test per missed homework is too harsh.
tell her you like the mets and she'll eat you. she moves pretty fast but that's because .. it's an honors class.
Shes a tough teacher but if you pay attention and do the homework, youll do well. if you study hard, the tests will go well. she does go pretty fast though but she always gives a lot of examples and takes questions
yeah she can be really discouraging. i'm horrible at math and it shows. i really need a good teacher to help me out, or i tend to do terribly. normally when you're doing bad in her class she'll tell you and she'll want you to get help or whatever. for some reason i guess she took a great dislike to me because when i failed her tests she'd just put them on my desk and walk away. verrryy discouraging, trust me.
Easy class if you pay attention. Do the work and participate and youll do well. Tests are easy if you study. Makes trig simple, but moves fast. Ask her questions! Go Yankees!
Easy as pie. Just do the work and participate. A very nice lady (if you're on her good side). Helps people understand math simply.
Ms. Strauss is a great teacher. Her class is challenging and enjoyable. She is very nice and always helpful to her students.
The work is fair and she's a nice person. With the bad stereotypes that math teachers get, I'm glad that I have her for Precal now.
Has a sense of humor and legible handwriting.Scolds sometimes but not harshly.Make sure you DO THE HOMEWORK and know what's going on though.
poor explanations/"teaching" if thats what u wanna callit she can be very rude and discouraging
I had her a long time ago.. but she's the reason I'm a math teacher now! :)
grades hard, test are hard strict on behavior and attendance, moves very fast, ok teacher
she's a decent teacher...tests r way too hard for her teaching capacity, and she expects too much of her students...
I actually graduated in 1980 but I remember Joanne Strauss very well, as being very demanding, expecting alot from her pupils - not a bad thing at least for me.
shes fast, and thats my pace of work, cuz math is easy, jus follow pace and ur good
Her teaching methods are decent...she moves very fast in her class, and expects a lot out of her students...you will have to work very in her class
Great teacher but expects too much from the students
she's nice but she doesnt pay attention when we're going over home work and doesnt say if the answer on the board is right or wrong. expects too much from honor
love you ms. strauss! fun teacher, sometimes quirky, tough at times, but you learn a lot. go yanks!
it's not that hard to earn a decent grade in her class. there are extra credits, NYMLS, etc. she's so dorky in a good way. very funnny.
Gives lots of x-tra credit so it is easy to get high 90s and 100s.
OMG!!! She is soooo hard, her tests are hard, she moves way too fast, and she expects way too much of her honors studends.
Had her in 197*. Loved her then. Glad she's still teaching!
She gives too much HW! I hate those double HWs. Why can't she just give us extra classwork for the review?
too harsh... way too harsh on math team pplz... o well, i guess she's sorta funny and she's mad good at math (duh)
ms. strauss is funny in a weird way. but she's a pretty good math teacher.
mad easy and you dont even need to do hw to get 100's
She was a pretty easy teacher for me. Just get on her good side by helping her out n stuff, she's really nice
Have her for math team. Nice, fun. Hard though on those who do badly.
Although she is a very tough teacher, you will learn a lot from her, just don't get low grade on her test. I AM SERIOUS!
She's very friendly, and fun, but if you get on her bad side you're screwed. She explains things well and makes every thing very clear (or about as clear as Seq. 3 can get).
Likes to help students, cares alot, and teaches WELL. It's an honors class and you ppl should pay attention. It's mostly COMPLETELY new material, so it's not that easy to teach/learn. I found it to be okay(94), and dont worry about the hw <-(my secret)
I don't care what others say, she's fair and taught very well. A big yankees fan, but.. oh well.
Very nice and helpful teacher, study hard if she doesn't like you
She is THE worst math teacher I have ever had. She doesn't explain enough, and goes too fast.
Though honors is a bit challenging and fast paced, she is a good teacher.
she doesn't explain concepts well, and expects too much from the honors class
Probably one of the best and nicest math teachers in this school.
