Mr Hickey is probably the best teacher I've ever had because he knows so much about the subject and plus the fact he has hard quizzes and tests forces you to learn so much more in his class than any other. Anyone who says he is a jerk is probe just a kid from DS who hasn't had to work for anything and doesn't like Mr Hickey because he gives out hard work and tells it like it is, if you aren't one of those kids you'll discover he's a great guy and even better teacher.

Sep 06, 2014 My experience in Mr. Hickey's course was both challenging and rewarding. His encouragement and faith in me, as well as his other students gave me the confidence to do well on the Advanced Placement exam for US History. He dedicated his own time to teach and guide other students in his course planning on taking the AP exam. This was very rewarding especially when the scores came out :) Although his tests or quizzes can be challenging, if you work hard and put the effort into his cour

He's not as bad as everyone says he is, but he's still not a good teacher. He knows a lot about what he's teaching but his exams are ridiculous and always have random information never mentioned and will not have information he insisted was important. He will make sarcastic comments to students often making them feel slightly shocked at his lack of care for being so insensitive. He's the only teacher who makes me not want to be the first person to walk into the room.

He insists on using the AP textbook even though he no longer teaches AP (because Mr. Kaplan is much better at what he does)

Mr. Hickey is one of the most talked about teachers due to his difficulty and the many rumors suggesting him to be the epitome of evil; however, He's one of the most brilliant in the History department and when he isn't in the classroom - one of the nicest. This Doesn't mean you can expect the same attitude in the classroom - He's a very ruthless (but hilarious!) teacher, giving material and questions from the AP Class which will bring a big challenge to an up and coming CP student.

Mr. Hickey is a great teacher and I'm learning a lot but he is truly mean. I've never met a person more mean, rude, or inconsiderate. He is very unapproachable and judgmental.

John is one of the most straight-forward and candid teachers at DS. The people who complain about him are the same people who don't know how to do their own laundry. He's a good guy. Tough, but good.

I LOVE Mr. Hickey. He is a great man and very willing to help his students. If you do the work and aren't a typical spoiled DS kid, you and Mr. Hickey will get along fine.
