From K-12, four years at Carolina, and Law School I have yet to have a better teacher. I had Mr. Rowland from 1995-1998. He holds his students accountable and has high expectations. No whining, no excuses, act like an adult and get the work done. You learn about Latin, sure, but what you learn about life and reality from the man is priceless.
I was a student of Mr. Rowland in 1996-1999. I am now helping my 7th grade daugh term through a rigorous Latin program (Henle) with relative ease *because of what I learned from Mr. Rowland* all of those years ago! I appreciated his high expectations and always enjoyed his quirky humor. He is an excellent teacher for the student who is willing to do the work!
You never know when and how it will pay off in the future! :)
Mr. Rowland has really affected my work ethic and how I view the world really. His teaching style is singular, and although strict, leaves you to your own devices to learn. I struggled through Latin I and the beginning of Latin II, but I am much more confident in my skills now that I have time to practice my skills. I can guarantee his students can outperform anyone in the county, and even the state. He is a great teacher, and I highly recommend him.
there is not much to say..all he really does is give us a sheet and tell us to figure out what the meaning of it is. then for 30 min he teaches and then class is over..he isnt a very good teacher in m
Really tough teacher, but very funny and very knowledgeable - a real teacher!
The best! Take his class. You will learn about life, love, loss and even Latin. The best teacher at West.
Do your work, dont whine, fight communism. extremely smart guy, an oddball but a GREAT teacher. Not a hard class if you do the little bits of work all along rather than blow it off
