He is a great teacher and the reason I keep playing. The only reason he "belittles" his students is to joke around. He isn't always a super serious teacher and I highly recommend him if you are looking for a teacher who you know will make your orchestra the best it can be. He is able to see the best in people, and can bring the best out when others can't. He knows what he's doing, and he knows when he has a goal for the students.
Lane-dawg really just wants to make his students into the best players they can possibly be. The only time he is ever difficult with anyone is when it is clear that they aren't practicing, when they're being plain rude and insolent, or when it's obvious that they really just don't care. He can rant, but if you're serious he provides a helpful, if not always extremely pleasant, musical education experience.
A really awesome teacher- he gets the best out of people, even if that means telling you straight up that how you played something sucked. He's musically intelligent and wants perfection. Most times he gets pretty darn close.
He can be harsh at times, but its meant for the better. The results speak for themselves- he has the best orch in the state, possibly the midwest, possiby the country.
we have a "love/hate" relationship. he is an awesome teacher (ive been his student for 4 years), but sometimes he can be a real pain. none the less, hes a good teacher.
as a band student, Mr. Lane's conducting takes some getting used to, and he expects you to be ready, but I have found him very enjoyable and a good teacher.
Knows his stuff and obviously enjoys teaching music. Can be a bit weird, and sometimes thinks that Orchestra comes before all else, but is still a great teacher and conducter. Can't be replaced.
Jon Lane was the most influential teacher in my daughter's high school life. He is eccentric, like many musicians, but that's what makes him so good! East is very fortunate.
great teacher, unhappy man...i enjoy his class and try to understand his unpersonable traits.
Mr. Lane knows what he wants and how to get it--I like him a lot!!
I've had him since 8th grade, and it wasn't until the middle of my Sophomore year that I realized what a cool guy he is. He really is a great guy director.
He can be tough if you're not really serious about music, but i love how we play really good music in his class... it's challenging but a good experience
Mr. lane was the meanest teacher I ever had. He was always insulting people and hurting them. If he taught 1/2 as well as he insulted people, he'd be great.
Odd jokes, but decent class (if he likes you and thinks you're making an honest effort to improve (read: private lessons with the "right" instructors, practice))
Definitely likes girls.....but a good teacher. Has a preference for people who practice, which is understandable.
His Theory class was boring last year. He's not a nice human being.
Mr. Lane bullies his students. Teachers like him give teaching a bad name.
He's a great teacher, he just expects improvement from people who are lazy slobs that don't practice. . .our orchestra could be great if they did!
when i say cool i mean kinda! nice guy... odd jokes... funny!
hes pretty cool unless you arent good (duh!) lets hope u r!
Pretty easy class. Can be hard if you don't practice, but thats a good sign.
