Smile a lot, nod your head, never bring a plastic water bottle to class--only reusable, and don't speak English if you can avoid it. Subjective grader but also takes an interest in everyone's personal lives which is nice from a teacher. French 2/3 are more difficult with her than AP is but you are with basically with the same same people all throughout French so the group chat is really big and funny and you make a lot of friends. She does field trips!!
I had a disappointing experience with mme burton. Her class unfortunately doesn't use textbooks at all, so you're learning by "her" curriculum, and not that of the school or state. The class goes at a very fast pace; the 2 vital skills you have to catch early on, speaking and reading. Both are incredibly important for this class, and will be 90% of what you do. The tests are difficult, and don't expect much help from her. Hope you're one of her favorites, otherwise it will be a rough year(s).
Mme Burton est le bonheur et la bombe!
You learn if you work hard and pay attention, like most classes. She's really into French, make sure you show some enthusiasm for it too.
J'aime, J'aime, J'aime la classe de francais!
J'adore le francais! I got a 5 on the AP Exam and I've only had classroom French - 4 yrs at Carlmont with Mme Burton.
Just do your homework and make an effort! You'll be speaking French in no time...
La baguette magique Mme Burton!!!
As long as you show even a little desire to learn French, and if you speak French as much as you can, you'll do great and learn a lot. J'adore le français!
I like that we actually use French a lot in class. I feel like I'm learning to speak and understand the language.
Most of the time she does not actually teach. Or if she does it is about French hisstory and culture, which is important., but the language should be the main part of class.
Very strict, was not very interactive. She made the class less interesting, and made me dislike the course enough to stop taking the class after my 3rd year.
she knows what she's talking about but sometimes rambles on random topics. She's nice if "put forth a drive to learn" However will rip your head off if you dont care!
I've taken French for four years now and I like it because I've been with the same people all along and we've all really bonded. I've made good friends from French.
Mais oui que beaucoup de pourquoi pas que pointguade que rein que parce-que que quelque oui. Que non. Que oui!!!! QUE NON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work hard but it pays off because I really feel like I'm learning French...and I'm hosting a French exchange student this year!
The atmosphere is really friendly in French class - it feels good and comfortable for learning a language.
If you try to speak and use the language and show an interest in French culture, you'll learn a lot.
I had her in my senior year last year and now placed in to the advanced French class this year at college. I'm happy.
Mme Burton is the best - I learned a lot in her class but you gotta work...
Learned to speak and understand French a lot more than I thought I would...she works really hard and cares about students.
I liked this class. Although her orginization may be flawed, I learned a lot from her class.
Sometimes she is nice, but most of the time not and is too opinonated and condescending. She can teach french, but can't find a way to connect w/students.
I'm a former student and I want to defend Ms. Burton because I heard she was being slandered. She inspired me to major in French; I'm going to study in Paris!
I want to put my 2 cents in here in defense of Mme Burton because most of the ratings look like personal attacks.I went to France with her and had a great time.
You really learn how to speak French and use the language. She does a lot of cool cultural stuff like field trips and exchanges.
The class is pretty hard but you learn a lot. She's pretty demanding and she cares a lot about whether students learn.
Shes opionated and thinks she knows everything. Request to not have her.
she is really bad at teaching. i learn next to nothing in her class.
