Mr. Mathews is such an awesome teacher! Always willing to meet with you outside of class and gives a lot of helpful input on your essays. Not a lot of homework and tests, but with a lot of essay feedback and enough AP prep for anyone to get a 5 without studying outside of class. Just a fun class with philosophical debates, especially for people who prefer to listen rather than discuss.

Had him 2013,first class that had him as a returning teacher. Very intelligent, gave extra credit. Amazing short essays. Content is a little difficult because the course is strange and new to understand. Overall, best teacher I had ever. Recommend!

It's been 15 years since I've been in his class. I've graudated from college and grad school. On multiple occasions, while sitting in class, I've thought, "I'm so lucky I had Mr. Matthews in HS".

Difficult while taking the class but was well worth it. This is the class to take if you want to be intellectually challenged.
