Ms. Kende put a positive spin on things. She honestly had few materials but made things look like they were more. She presented just enough information for children to take an idea and run with it. Her displays more than showed this.
I was always excited to find out what new things we would be doing in Ms. Kende's class. Ms. Kende made learning Art fun. The seventh and eighth grade classes were known to have a lot of children with emotional problems. I remember how the eighth grade class performed Oklahoma (I was in sixth grade) and he would always say that he had never seen children like these. Ms. Kende did a good job overall.
Ms. Kende made beautiful displays of the children's artwork. One was on the Garden of Eden, on was about futuristic sculpture. All of her displays were well put together. These children obviously got poor grades in her class because most every child that made a project was able to display one. She now teaches in MD and has for the past ten years. She has continued to create awesome displays including the one here: https://sites.google.com/a/pgcps.org/ms-kende-s-interrelated-art-site/
