Mr. Hall is a very nice teacher who is always available for help. If you keep up with the notes in class, the tests are easier than other people on here have said. However, the classroom environment can be awkward at times and while I realize this is a history class in a politically charged time, he should to more to facilitate a non biased class discussion. Everybody has the freedom to express their political opinion but I would steer away from trying to convince students to lean left.
So I've enjoyed the class, but my grade has just been butchered. He's a really nice guy but puts so much on our tests that he simply hasn't taught, and one would have had to read the textbook at least twice to get all the information, as much of it is never discussed in class. Hall's great about keeping us informed about current events, but usually just uses them to support (and I hate to use this phrase) his liberal agenda. If you're reading this, please remember there are other valid opinions.
He's a really nice guy who knows a lot and cares about all of his students. He really makes the history comes to life, and also incorporates important current events into class. I am so glad so had the chance to be in his class.
he is a terrible tennis coach and teacher. he is very bad no clarity i failed the test. would not recommend 0/10. v not fire.
He's not the brightest teacher, and he's incredibly compulsive, but he is easy. You can get away with doing minimal amounts of work and still keep an A.
Mr. Hall was a fantastic teacher! I loved his class. He is the best social studies teacher that I have ever had. He finds ways to make learning fun and above all he is passionate and enthusiastic about his job! He puts his own unique touch on assignments and tests which is awesome. His only flaw is his participation system, which is a little unfair, but still, he is a great teacher.
Mr. Hall is an awesome teacher! He is always willing to help students and answers questions clearly. I really like how he goes what is going on around us(Current Issues). Thank you, Mr. Hall! :)
Its world HISTORY not world TODAY. I felt we focus more on the 'now' instead of the 'then'. I wasn't a fan on how he put something that happened two days ago on our final. If you don't watch the news and read every newspaper around - watch out. But he tried though, and seemed passionate about what he does.
In the beginning of the year, I hated him but now I love him. I sorta enjoy his class even though he's too harsh on participation grade. but i still love him
Gives us many homeworks but they are manageable. Makes lots of stuff much easier by making different methods for us to understand the subjects. However, he is very harsh on grading class participation. He needs to understand it's hard for some people to stand up the class.
Assigns a lot of work, Brings up his political beliefs, doesn't understand that other classes besides his own exist. Not much fun, but he is very helpful and makes time for students.
Mr. Hall is a great teacher and a great guy. So what if he leans to the left...all teachers should. if you don't agree with his political beliefs, you probably don't have a brain.
I am a parent. My child took his class and I had to retrain her after Mr. Hall's class. He is a woefully ill-informed ideologue, inappropriately using his position of authority to indoctrinate his students. He should be fired. My daughter rated Mr. Hall.
He is AWESOME. besides some horrible projects (Middle East Peace Summit) I love his class. He's very political in a good way, that is if you're a liberal
He was too critical of the current political situation to actually teach HISTORY. He's a nice person, but being a Republican student in his class is irritating. This was last year, and level 4 was easy, but I don't know how it is this year.
WAY TOO POLTICAL. LETS HIS EMOTIONS AND THOUGHTS GET IN THE WAY OF TEACHING
Mr. Hall is an extreme democrat and totally lets that influence how he teaches, we never go over our homework in class because he uses all the time to talk about current events.
Probably the worst teacher I have had at New Trier. The only way to do well in his class is to become a republican the first day. Don't even try to add democratic remarks, he will just shoot you down and then take off from your participation grade. His class is a breaz if you are on his good side other wise expect to get a B.
his class was a joke. soooo easy. and he uses his personal politics 2 try 2 influence his students' opinions
He's really into current events and politics (Iraq) is really nice, and interesting, and has a great class. He has fun projects, although he grades pretty easily. Great teacher!!!
too easy, too political, and omg his class was a joke! i didn't learn much and i like history so i was disappointed
Mr. Hall was my favorite teacher! He always explains everything really well, and I learned a lot in his class. He is a very good teacher!
ok, i know this guys nice and all but honestly, he never is clear on the homework assignments and is the biggest hippy ever, some questions on his tests are on how bush ruins all
how about a great "before and after" category: john kerry hall! HA HA HA! He's a bit vague, by the way.
I love having him for world history. He look like John Kerry.
He was such a cool teacher! THe class was so much fun. My one problem was that he's kind of vague in some of his assignments
pretty good teacher, likes current events a lot. v. easy grader, but thinks he's funnier than he is.
He gave hard tests with endless multiple choice problems, but other than that he was cool. He thought he was so funny but he told the lamest jokes.
Very cool, environmentally aware, liberal, but easy teacher, cool guy, but its more current events class than history. Fun class tho
he's an awesome teacher! the thing is, his teaching methods aren't the greatest. he asks multiple choice questions with 5 different answers. cool guy though.
he is very nice!! he was one of my favorite teachers
fun teacher, very interesting. he teaches pretty well, but he's a bit hard when it comes to participation
The king of Acronyms. The big boss of acronyms. Lots of 'em. 43 he gave us last year. He also likes militarily blunderous actions in the outside world.
