Mrs. Layden is a terrible teacher. I have ADHD, and sometimes need directions repeated. I was unclear about the directions of a lab, and she didn't explain it to me. She also used swear words in front of students multiple times. Mrs. Layden needs to pack her bags and go back to Canada.
Ok Layden is a genius... Although AP Chemistry is a hard course and I don't necessarily know what I'm doing all the time she is a great teacher. I had her for regular and AP. She is very helpful in explaining things especially if you don't understand. She pushes you as a student and is one of the nicest people.
I had her for regular chemistry so perhaps if I had a.p. this review would be different because the info was kinda basic. Having said that in the beginning of the year I was honestly scared oh her because she was hard to chew. She's a bit kooky and that may take some time to get used to, but now half way through the year she's (dare I say) fun. Oh, and also she will make you try to figure out your own questions so don't bother asking her just google it, its what I did.
By far, my favorite teacher ever! She pushed me, but she knew my limits. She worked us for our grades, but she didn't put them out of reach. Spending time on her assignments and studying are a must. You're going to put your blood, sweat, and tears into her class, but she'll be there with a box of tissues. She's an amazing teacher. She prepared me exceptionally well for the AP exam. I only needed to crammed just for an hour the night before, and got a 4. You're going to love/hate her.
her teaching methods are lacking but she is a first year teacher who is probably still looking for a niche. she is a great person outside of the classroom once you get to know her better. yes she is strict but she is very educated and may not see that as teenagers we are a little immature and need a little wiggle room when it comes to getting off task. but as the year is coming to a end she is becoming better and a lot less edgy.
