Mrs. Bortz is something. As a drama teacher she uses odd assignments from online and assigns tons of written work. On top of that, she seldom assigns collaborative group work (for drama!). This is same woman who has suggested sleep is far more important than work. Oh, and she uses a lot of class to talk about her family.

She is a nice person who is very knowledgeable about English. However, she sometimes assigns massive amounts of homework that can be highly stress-inducing, especially when trying to balance her class with six other academic classes, thesis, college applications, and extracurricular activities. She is also a very tough grader so you need to make sure that everything down to your notes is done flawlessly.

Mrs. Bortz is very knowledgeable about her AP Lit class and she prepares her students well for the AP Exam. However, she does assign what sometimes seems like an inordinate amount of work. She will grade all assignments that her students complete; however, some are completion grades and some are gone over with a fine-tooth comb, so students must do first-rate work at all times. I definitely recommend her; but know that she is difficult!

She thinks we can save the world if we donate as much money as we spend on spirit week to starving kids. Other than being extremely unclear, slightly annoying, and assigning way to much homework unevenly she is not a bad teacher. She seems like a good person but I don't know for sure.

Takes no personal interest in students. Only talks about her kids. Gives us a crap load of useless work. Thinks we actually have time in our lives to waste time on what I believe is the most useless class one can ever take, immediately preceded by any class taught by Ms. English.

Mrs. Bortz was one of the toughest graders. I worked harder to get an A in her class than ever before. However, she is the best editor you could ask for. She is amazing with helping to flush out ideas on your thesis, best one on one, other than class time b/c she is not so rushed. She helped me to create a fabulous thesis product and may be tough but will prepare you so well for the rest of high school. You would be lucky to get her, even though you might hate junior year.

Mrs. Bortz is hard, but very fair. She reads EVERYTHING you write and gives you good feedback on your papers. She really helps you become a better writer.

She really cares about helping us get through thesis. It's a boring class - which she admits - but it really prepared me for college.

She is a horrible thesis/theory of knowledge teacher. If you get her, switch out. She is horrible at explaining things, and has no idea what she is talking about. Worst teacher at magnet I've had.

Ms. Bennett (now Mrs. Bortz) is a really cool person...I just wish that she could have skipped the whole Theory of Knowledge class...it was pointless. In helping with thesis, though...she's super

It must be hard for a mediocre teacher to keep up with above average students.

Theory of Knowledge was a waste of time. A bit useful for the thesis part, but then the class just turned into focus.
