Laura Holmgren asks her students on a quiz to name the "fifth coordinating conjunction". What does that mean? There is no defined order for coordinating conjunctions. Who cares what order she lists the coordinating conjunctions? I've never heard of a stupider quiz question in my 20 years as a teacher/parent. She could ask the students to pick out the word that is not a coordinating conjuction. She could ask the students to list the coordinating conjunctions.
Such a great teacher. shes very straight forward and helpful
Mrs. Holmgren is one of the most passionate, hard-working teachers at Poly. She is also a genuinely kind, caring lady, although she may seem a bit scary at times. I learned so much in her class and was extremely well prepared for English II.
Was literally the best teacher I've ever had. Cares a lot for her students, LOVES teaching, and is seriously the best there is for English. Intimidating, but SOOO GOOD AT TEACHING
greatest teacher hands down, i was not one of her favorites by any means but i still learned so much
only calls on her favorites, homework takes WAY too much time compared to other classes; otherwise good teacher
The first thing she told us was that we were going to cry in class. She was right. She (or the homework she assigned) made me burst into tears. But I've gotten used to it and she does have a heart
an okay teacher i guess... way overrated though. No heart what-so-ever
oh i love her. fair, strict, but effin' hilarious + super helpful.
Scares me everyday to do my homework. Effective... but scary. She is by far the hardest english teacher I have ever had.
fairly hard teacher, but very clear and good at teaching. she's pretty nice too
unbelievably hard, not such a good teacher just forces you to learn how to deal with waaaay too much work. overrated
One of the best teachers I ever had the pleasure to learn from. Everyday was exciting yet tough.
You learn to love her. She's so clear in what she wants yet eventually lets you explore your own writing style. And yes, she has a heart.
She's a great teacher as well as a great person. Having her both years teaches you more than any other english teacher can or will.
She's the reason I did well on the AP jr yr. Her strictness teaches you to organize yourself when the grades don't matter as much. She cares about you, really..
I honestly will never forget her class. She's tough, but she's amazingly supportive. Support is the best thing a student could ever hope for.
I don't think she's as tough as some say, but you have to do the homework. She'll let you turn papers in late if you talk to her, but have a good excuse.
hard as hell, but the best english teacher i've ever had. get her soph. or frosh. year before your other classes get really hard
Holmgren is THE best teacher poly has--if you want to know how to write, take her class. she might not be the nicest person ever, but she knows how to teach
Great teacher. Taught me everything I know about English.
