One of the best clases I have taken. Its a shame she retired, but she is an engaging teacher that never fails to surprise her students. She understands that her class is difficult and gives you points from particapation and extra credit to make sure ur able to stay in her class. Watkins 4 EVERRR
She makes the learning pretty interesting and teaches pretty well. It's just that her Honors tests are a killer. If you're in AE, you're pretty much learning the exact same thing as the honors students, just easier tests. Like if you get a 97 on a test in AE, you'll barely scrape by in Honors.
PROTIP: Don't rely on the class study guides that kids make on Google Docs. They seem good at first, but really just study your notes. The chat, and just random facts, make the study guide bad.
She's nice but stuck up. 9th grade AE History with her is hard. She knows her stuff and should use that in teaching. She barely teaches and expects you to know things that were in the homework without reviewing them. She says something won't be on the test, then it is. Her favorite questions are multiple choice that ask "which of the following is the MOST important to __" with "all of the above" as an option. The most important factor is an OPINION, so these questions aren't fair.
Very difficult teacher. Don't get me wrong, I learned so much from this class and it was interesting to me, but the way she graded was so odd. I'd think I did great on a test and do terribly and vice versa also happened. Homework counts for a lot so definitely do it, also participation can really bump your grade up so ask good questions and be involved. Mrs. Watkins was really nice but expects a lot from all students.
Really liked Mrs. Watkins- very difficult class, but I learned so much from her. Great experience even if it was a bit of a struggle at times.
Watkins is good if you listen to her lectures. dont fall asleep understand the material and you should do fine. Tests are rediculous and she expects way too much from an AE class but if you pay attention (like i DIDNT do) the
DO UR HW! IT COUTS FOR 1/3 OF UR TERM GRADE! her tests are okay if u study but theyre not the easiest thing in the world. take good notes. ask lots of questions and participate a lot cuz she'll add sum pts to ur term avg.
It was alright. She's a nice, but every now and then she is completely unfair. Well basically nice person, tough for the 1st 2 terms, and is unpredictable as in u never know what u r going to get
Super teacher! Emphasizes art, geography, social trends, thinking skills. Works hard and makes you work hard too.
super hard. rediculous tests and essays. ask questions, participate whenever possible, do all the homeword with a lot of effort and do well on map quizzes and you can pull of a decent grade
She expects a lot from her honors students, but then again: it's honors. No one ever claimed it would be easy. Learn her teaching style, and you'll do fine in her class.
She is a nice person, but when it comes to grading... it's quite different. Many people aced jr high social studies with at least an A, but in world history, its pretty tough. She has some application questions that aren't di
She gives multiple choice that often have more than one correct answer depending on ur interpetation (because they are worded confusingly) and u need to add specific points in ur open responses that she randomly chooses in or
one of the best history teachers i've ever had! i learned so much even though i had her first period. she's very clear and actually knows what she's talking about.
i really like her, she's extremely tough, but im struggling through. her style doesnt work the best for me, but im glad shes my teacher , and ive learned a lot
greatest and nicest teacher in the world got an A- even witha C on my research paper
I love Mrs. Watkins! She's one of the HARDEST but best teachers I've ever had. Her tests are really hard, but you can't be afraid to get bad grades, try hard and stay with it. Doing your homework helps with your final grade!!
watkins is a phenomonal teacher. her familiarity with history is so obvious and she really wants her students to succeed. her tests force you to really think, not just "regurgitate" as she often refers to it.
she has a hard class but if you signed up for honors then you should have known that going into hs. you can definitely tell she knows her stuff, too. shes really nice to her students and makes the class comfortable.
knows a lot about subject in general. hard time making deadlines. love the spaz conversations: off topic a lot. tests are vague and hard. scatterbrained ideas and facts. free map quizzes. great person
I love Mrs. Watkins. She is just like your mom and she really made me love history. A great teacher and an even better person. She's open to any opinions. The tests aren't hard if you study.
hard tests/quizzes. but actually CAN teach. one of my fav teachers XD
She was definetly the hardest teacher I have ever had, but if you signed up for honors you appreciate that and stuff...she seems to really care about her subject and about the students..favorite teacher I have ever had by far
Hard, has favorites, and VERY BORING. Even made the interesting topics boring.
Watkins is an awesome teacher. she was really hard, but hey, it's an honors class. I loved her teaching style.
mrs. watkins was AMAZING. from the byzantine project to the renaissance gathering to the congress of vienna on the last day of school, she nurtured in me a love for history.
amazing teacher, altho impossible (honors world)....i dont get why so many people hate her
She really rocks. I like her style, althought the work is hard, it's worth it.
Amazing teacher, i had no interest in history before, and now I plan on majoring in it. She's wicked cool too, she goes to Godsmack concerts on school days. Loved her.
I LOVE MRS. WATKINS! She is an amazing teacher who makes history really interesting. She's also a great frosh teacher cuz she understands the bridge between rjg to abrhs
Mrs. Watkins is very cool. Medieval Lives is tough if you wait till 4:00 in the morning on the day that is is due to start and finish it, however. (Yes, that was a warning)
Watkins is the most amazing teacher ever! She makes class fun, funny and interesting and I wish she could teach H US 1 and 2!
She;s a really nice lady...She makes history so interesting for me
very cool teacher. classes are fun and enjoyable and we learn a lot in class. she lectures but also shows movies has projects and sometimes has parties
Mrs. Watkins was an incredible history teacher. Her tests were hard, but she prepared you and I am going to miss the review sheets next year. A great teacher.
a very good freshman teacher. she's sweet, and teaches well.
Mrs. Watkins' history class was probably the best history class I have ever had. Her class presentations were very clear and she prepared us well for tests.
She's an awesome teacher/person. She has a challanging class bu that's what H is all about.
She is such a wonderful teacher. She is just so nice and fun that you enjoy being in her class. I hate history but she made me like it more. Best hist. teacher
AWESOME TEACHER!! 8th period hist. last year.. we <3 you!! awesome memories in that class!!
Mrs. Watkins is the best. She makes history fun and interesting. You have to work hard to get decent grades, but it's worth it.
greatest teacher ever! soo nice, so smart and inspirational. very fair, the tests get really tricky half way thru year though...do hw, study, and u'll do great
omg!!! i loved ms. watkins this year!! she is so funny, she has this great story about a chipmunk, she is so awesome, i wish i could have her again for history!
She is very experienced in making class presentations. She is very understanding and has fun activites like the congress of Viena.
Great teacher. I learned a lot. Wish I got better grades tho...
