I know that Cheng has good intentions but sometimes I wish she could just understand her students more. I understand that I am taking AP Chinese 4, but she also needs to understand that studying for 3 hours just for Chinese everyday just isn't plausible when you have four more AP classes to worry about. Other than that, she's a good teacher that cares for her students.
Good, yet not to good. She doesn't give enough time for one to retain what they need to remember. The result is a class that gets yelled at. Overall a great teacher with great attitude. Just to many rushed tests.
i didn't know any chinese and she taught me so much in chinese 1. yeah she's strict and sometimes she can be really mean to an individual person but she's not as bad as everyone says she is. as long as you try in her class you'll be alright. if she feels like you're really practicing hard enough she won't be so tough on you. she is biased at times and i feel like that is her weak point.
She is could be mean and nice. Whenever I walked to her desk to ask her stuff, she would ignore me. -.- Her tests are not very hard if you study.
If you're not Chinese, don't expect an A if you study LESS than 2 hrs everday. She is there to help you anytime. Bad side: VERY UNCLEAR on directions and due dates
The class is fairly hard because its chinese but if you dont goof off you can get a good grade. Mainly just study. Dont expect an A if you haven't been exposed to chinese before though. but dont comp
She's a nice teacher overall. She just has a hard time connecting with the students! So dont bash on her! If you dont have a pretty good foundation, then it will be a little hard.
not a good teacher at all, pretty bad attitude (she called one student stupid a few times and told him to shut up), really horrible logic (especially her way of grading tests)
She loves native speakers and her IB kids. Notice who's missing - the AP students- will have the hardest time. But the workload is like 2 short paragraphs a week, which is most of your grade. If you're too lazy, it's your fault.
chinese 1,2,3 are really really easy. chinese 4 is the hardest class you will ever take, EVER. she gets really nice in chinese 4 though and cares about her students (:
I have taken 4 years with her and was very happy to be in her class. She teaches us step by step. I have learned a lot. Of course, you have to study as she expects.
Although she is NICE TO THE ONES THAT ACTUALLY TRY, she goes incredibly fast teaching her Chinese 1. Also, she threatens us to drop the class, no one cares...
i only say its easy cuz i am Chinese, and i have an advantage over some. this is class is only easy if u pay attention and study well. IB students get MORE work
I had her for 2 years and the class was easy..she was nice most of the time..but i know if you're not a native speaker, then it won't be easy
Cheating is rampant in her class, and it goes unchecked for the most part. Not a very useful class.
