He's a good person and knows what he's teaching.
He is a great teacher very helpful but the ONLY problem is that he is TOO funny and that sometimes that cuts away from my learning but hes a great teacher.
What a sweetie pie! His class truly makes my day. He's not one of those boring lecturers- he's one of those people who want people to participate and have fun learning math. His class is fun(ny) with him poking fun at people (good natured stuff, such as making fun of a japanese kid's eyes). I truly love Mr. Jennings, and he sparked my love of math (yea, i know what your thinking- what a nerd)!
Jennings is definitely a hard teacher, but he does a great job preparing you for future math classes. As a person, Mr. Jennings is absolutely hilarious and will always make your day and his class as interesting as possible. While he is a hard teacher, his pre calculus class is taught similarly to a calculus course, making you extremely prepared for future calculus classes. While you will have to put in significant effort to get an A, dont worry, because future years of math will be amazing!
I had Mr. J last year for 2/Trig and hated every minute of the class. He shows examples of problems on the board but it's very intimidating to ask him questions as he'll just bounce them back at you and make you seem stupid. There were a few freshmen in the class who would constantly talk and interrupt which he would do very little to stop despite it inhibiting other student's learning. His tests are hard and I would constantly get anxiety from his class, even though I never get it from school.
Mr. J is a nice guy, and you should be happy to get him. His classes are really entertaining, but to do well it is important you pay attention to the stuff that is taught. I saw a 6% improvement from first sem to second (90% to 96%). Basically, I just made sure that I payed attention in class.
HE's a great teacher and a great guy. He's always making jokes if the class doesn't participate. Sadly, in second semester 2016, he had to have student teacher take over. Really a great teacher for 2/Trig.
To start of Mr Jennings is an AMAZING teacher!! he is probably the best at MV the only problem is that he expects a lot from you so the tests are really really hard. And also be prepared in not using calculators for 2/trig
Calculus AB with Jennings is like an Amazon product with three stars - it could go either way. Preparedness is key for success in this class. Luckily, there are some shortcuts you can take to study smarter (this is Monta Vista after all). Tests are very similar to Mr. Deruiter's Calc BC class, so the ever so smart Monta Vista student should use Deruiter's notes and practice tests to study.
On asking Jennings questions - you will receive an answer more confusing than AP Lit Shakespeare.
His style of teaching was really helpful! Rather than lectures on the concept, he focuses on working out a lot of sample problems starting from easy and ending with difficult. This not only made homework easier, but also resulted in a better grasp of the concept and we did much better on the tests. He's for sure the best algebra/2 trig teacher!! Sometimes makes fun of/yells at students, but still, he's the best teacher you could hope for.
He is one of the best teachers in Monta Vista. He is funny, easy going, teaches well, and knowledgeable. He will help you personally if you ask for help. His test are pretty easy and straight forward if you listen in class. Over all, he made my most hated math class into a fun and favorite class. :)
Just one word for Mr.J = AWESOME
Very nice and helpful teacher. If you pay attention in class you'll get an A. I feel prepared for future classes.
Jennings was a very helpful, friendly, and fun person. Although he wasn't the most thorough and rigorous teacher, he does know how to engage students and keep class interesting. Difficulty wise, his class was maybe a medium math class at MV.
One of the most helpful teachers on campus. He really knows what he is teaching and wants students to understand how certain formulas are derived. Once in a while he will share inspirational speeches which really motivate people to do well later on.
Mr. Jennings is probably one of the best teachers at Monta Vista. He really is the sweetest guy ever. He explains everything really well and there are no shockers on the tests. If you pay attention in class and do the homework well and study in advance, you'll do fine. He is hilarious and so nice. He came into class one day with cookies for us. That he baked. AND they were freaking delicious. Mr. J is a great teacher and you'd be lucky to get him. Thank your lucky stars if you do.
he's a really good teacher, he explains stuff pretty well. occasionally though he uses alot of shortcuts so it might get confusing. tip though never, never, ever zone out in his class. oh and his second semester final is waay hard so prepare! it legit makes his tests look easy :\ but other than that super chill teacher you'll be super prepared for precalc.
he's an awesome teacher. his class was really fun, but it still pretty hard
He's the whole package: a great speaker, teacher and person. Just fun to hang around with and say 'hello' to whenever you can, and to talk with about any subject. Class [alg2/trig] might have its shaky moments here and there if you don't pay attention (speaking from first-hand experience), but is definitely manageable and a great experience. Awesome guy, Mr. J is.
In my opinion, I think he is a great teacher :). As long as you pay attention in class, take good notes, ask him questions, and study for tests/ quizzes, you will do great! :D
Mr. Jennings is a somewhat good teacher- not the best i've ever had but not horrible. He's nice but he has this way of asking the questions you ask back to you- he's kind of unapproachable that way.
I am a much better student because of his class! .
I LOVE MR. J! Got him for Trig. when I went to Mr. Kim's Pre-Calc, got a high A so you can do this! :)
He teaches really fast. I'm not good at math so I get lost, but if you are, he should be fine. His tests are fair and he's a funny and nice person
He tries to be helpful but we go to an asian school so no one raises their hand ever.
he cares about his students so much! as far as how hard the class is, if you TELL him you're struggling, he will more than gladly help you. seriously, if you get anything other than an A/B in his clas
if your smart, hes great, if your dumb he sucks, it your in between its ok, hes funny, he was crystal clear lectures, tests are good, i sometimes wish he would be more helpful with ppl questionst
he loves graphing too much...we'll learn it in precalc...
It's hecka hard to ask questions comfortably in his class because he kind of makes fun of you if you do. You'll fail if you get Kim after him.
he's pretty nice but i'm scared of asking him questions. he gives you partial credit on tests just for trying the problem.
hes chill. makes interesting comparisons between math and life, really helps you understand the material. hes really funny. love his commercials. tests and quizzes arent too hard.
he is scary to ask questions to. he is niceish but hates it when you cantradict him.
He needs to have a friendly "environment" when someone goes up to him.
not too hard and he's chill but he can have mood swings sometimes. and he's a little bit weird and picky about tiny things but other than that...not bad, especially compared to the other math teachers
he is nice to everyone (even if you're not a smartie). ^^
Best math teacher I've ever had! People say his tests are hard, but if you remember what you learned from previous classes, everything is basically review.
relatively easy class, didnt pay attention, read the book, and managed to get an A
Super hard tests due to lack of teaching in class. Explains mainly verbally NOT visually. People who do well in his class are people who rly ENJOY learning math and have excelled in past math classes
he is an amazing teacher...and although he has hard tests and quizzes..he only expects you to know what hes teaching you...and he teaches is REALLY well!!..if u wanna get ny math this year thengethim!
Best math teacher I've had. Lessons are very thorough and comprehendable. It's a fun class but the only drawback is he's a tad disorganized. Otherwise, totally great.
Great teacher! Never a boring moment in class because he fills blank stares with "Yes Mr. Jennings, Great class, great!" His commercials are informative, and his tests are exactly what he said they'd be on. He's always willing to answer questions, and actually KNOWS THE CONTENT! Great teacher ~
He makes the class go by really fast, like you don't even have to look at the clock. The way he teaches is extremly interesting!! But tests are hard and quizzes depends.
He's ok. He really likes the outgoing, popular people, not necessarily the supernerds and people who really want to learn. Tests are pretty hard.
I LOVE JENNINGS. anything else need said? but really, he has great commercials, and he tries to get u thinking behind "monta vista school life" and be more open to things other than education. i love that =]
His teaching method is great. Everything he puts on tests and quizzes have been at some point reviewed in class. And the hardest problems are clearly explained in class. Best math teacher I've had. :)
While it might be true that he can teach well, I have seen no evidence. He constantly interferes with learning and just generally acts as if he is teaching kindergarten. If you ever have a disagreement, he WILL hold a grudge.
never in my life have i had a teacher this cool. i love his commercials, and i've never understood math better than in his class
True, he doesn't teach by the book. But that's the best thing about him! That way, if you don't get his methods, you can check the book, or vice versa. But seriously, one of the best teachers at MV!!!
gets ANNOYING and distracting (constantly making weird as5 voices) class is harder to follow b/c he doesnt go along with the book. slightly unorganized.not open to alternative math techniques.
fun class and mr. jennings really wants to teach you to get to know math. its not about memorizing or using the calculator, its understanding. really helps you and is EXTREMELY funny. may be hard at beginning but stick w/ it
mr jennings is the best dang math teacher of all times "oh that's decrepit, what does that have to do w/ the price of tea in china?" "swell class, just swell" "oh quit hogwashing" he knows his math really well, the best!!!
best teacher ever. hecka funny, love his sayings, and class was fun. actually learned, good overall.
wonderful teacher, actually knows math adn KNOWS how to teach it. VERY good at heart
HMMMMMMMM THIS TEST IS WORTH 100 CLAAAAAMS!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GREATEST TEACHER EVER!!! I love his class because we don't HAAAAVE to do anything!
makes class interesting, teaches really well, cares about all the students... best teacher ever!
Mr.Jennings is so funny. He is really helpful, and helps students learn in a way they can easily remember (donuts, frogs, friends)
mr jennings is the most hilarious teacher ive ever had. great teacher also, got to learn lots in his precalc class =]
he's a cool teacher but he's actually not that good...and his tests are pretty hard
nice, funny, knows his stuff. sometimes can be a little misleading, but is one of the best teachers ive ever had.
Mr. J is not a good teacher. He is alright at explaining things, but when it comes to helping students, he usually ignores you, or tells you to look it up in th
a great teacher. i wished he followed the book more tho, so studying for his class would be easier.
mr. jennings is soooooooo awesum...his lessons are so much fun and his "commercials" are really cool too...i learnt more in his classes than in alg 2/trig
It's good to not have to read the precalc book, but also learn a lot. his stories are fun to listen to.
you learn a lot in his precalc class. Jennings is dedicated and helpful.
Great teacher, very upbeat and has an excellent class plan
he is a very good teacher, who can make students understand math very clerily!!! nice nice nice
if shimazaki is the king of english, then jennings is the emperor of math. (in terms of coolness)
Very cooperative and engaging in lessons. Explains meterial very clearly, much better than the stupid book. Big plus he's extremely funny and cool
