Switch out if you have her for english. She's not qualified at all, treats the student she doesn't like really rudely, choses favorites, and grades your work based on how much she likes you. her default grade is a B and the only way to bring your grade up in on the impossible reading comprehension quizzes. good luck. she teaches the class like a college course and doesn't understand how long homework she assignes each night takes (1-3 hours). :( avoid

She's OK. She is, deep down, a very nice person. Her Shakespeare shows are what makes the BHS drama society great. However, as teacher and as a person, she has a lot of work to do in being an understanding person and providing an adequate environment that students feel safe in.

Knows shakespeare well. She is rude to shy students and make fun of any question she thinks she answered when in reality she is very unclear. She gave us 120 pages of reading last night. Her students are noticeably more studious but also noticeably more unhappy. Students have proven her wrong about books and she has refused to listen and continuously argued her pathetic point until her students give up on the argument. Have a 4.0 in all honors and advanced classes except for her.

This is a review for her English class. I'm a straight A student, but thanks to her I almost didn't graduate when I received my first C-. She plays favorites, and clearly I didn't make the cut. I remember she once assigned homework at 8:30 am via email that was due later that afternoon. The reviews here are fairly accurate, she's NEVER on time and sometimes she doesn't show up as well. She had a policy that if you wanted her to help you with an essay you had to buy her coffee. Worst teacher ever

If you mesh with Mary, as I did, she's an amazingly rewarding teacher. I've grown as a performer and have a new love for Shakespeare that I didn't have prior to working with her. That being said if you don't mesh with her she's difficult and class can be a miserable experience.

Mary is an awful teacher at that. She plays favorites, that is she loves anyone who spends all their free time watching shakespeare. Very few people actually did well in her class, whether she likes you or not shows directly in your grade. Good luck.

Ms. Mastandrea is an awful English teacher. She often makes pathetic references to Shakespeare, and forces us to act at times. She forced us to attend a play she directed, on which we had to write an essay. Mary is 15 minutes late to class every day, isn't open minded at all, and has extremely prudent favorites. We cannot talk AT ALL in class, and if she catches us, we may only respond with "sorry, Mary". Out of about 25 students, only 3 got A's, yet I've gotten A's in English for 3 years now.

Just to set things straight, this rate is for her English class, not drama. As a teacher, she isn't that good. She ends up being one of those teachers that doesn't get much done in class, and then tests you on things she didn't go over. Her homework will take its toll pretty quickly. She has a habit of assigning homework that takes her 5 minutes to prep and will take you an hour or more to do. If you can handle her favoritism and rudeness, you can put up with the class. But if not...

mary is an awful teacher. she is rude, dismissive and if you express your own discomfort, she will hold it against you. she choses favorites and does not censor herself at all. she will make you hate drama. she never gives you a chance to stand up for yourself, if she yells at you, and you try to defend yourself, she literally talks over you until you have been shut down and I think you can take that to describe her outlook on life.

Mary is a very rude teacher. She has the knowledge in what to teach but is very bad a delivering it. As a director she is a bit of a force and in her shows and classes it is either her way or the highway with absolutly no room for compromise.

Mary is a wonderful teacher and director. I have only known her a couple of years, but i have grown accustomed to her. She has character, which is what i like about her. Not afraid of opinion, though she could be more open-minded. She puts full devotion into her work, and you can tell she cares a lot about her students and the drama society in Bhs.

She needs my advice because she doesn't seem to understand that a failure to reflect on one's own faults is not a valuable quality to have but instead is a tragic flaw. It is easy to see that she has lived a life where she has never needed to question herself so I suggest she picks up that skill very soon because otherwise she will **** alone and never understand why. There are times where she seems to get it but she quickly strikes down that momentary lapse of character and spirals into the vile person sh

People who wrote positive things about her had her for a drama teacher, not an english teacher. ALthough I've never had her as a drama teacher, everyone says she's pretty good. As an english teacher, she is by far the worst I've ever had. Late to class, extremely critical, and unforgiving with deadlines, she bad bad bad. Her senior paper requirements are so unreasonable, if you can't come up with one, she'll give you a thesis and lay it out herself. That's how half of my class graduated. Switch out or drown
