Excellent teacher, she knows pretty much everything, and if she doesn't she'll look it up, and get back to you. Hard class to get an A in, she is a very strict grader, but one of the most interesting people you'll ever meet, and great for recommendations (if you can get one).

she's a nice, calm teacher who likes to talk for long periods of time, but fair. She doesn't force you to speak up but likes it if you do. On writing assignments, having a lot of okayish good stuff is better than a short but excellent piece--she likes quantity. a sentimental teacher...get to know her personally and she'll take to you.

I couldn't have imagined a better English class. She makes you read the lit and take out some of the nuances, and the class discussions are lively and interesting. You will learn so much about American Literature with her. Just use common sense - write your papers to build from class discussion, not to undermine it.

She definitely has favorites, but it's not hard to get an A in her class as long as you agree with her point of view. She'll like you even better if you do well during the Huck Finn or Emily Dickinson units. Overall, she's a very nice teacher.

Personally, I loved Ms. O'Brien. I learned so much about literature in her class, and she taught us so much vocabulary that helped if your weak side on SATs is reading. Her class is mostly discussion, and if you pay attention and participate you will do fine.

its a love/hate relationship. unless she hates you she is very nice and also very interesting. but just when you start to like her, you'll get your essay back. and then the cycle starts over again.

AP Lit was terrible. Grades way too hard considering she never explains what she wants. I hate when English teachers tell you you're wrong, which she does all too often. Nice lady, horrible teacher.

Stay on her good side, agree with her views in your papers, and speak up in class discussions. Most people doze off because she's so incredibly boring. If you can, try to switch out.

I thought with hard work I could survive her class, but I put HOURS into it - even went to extra tutoring sessions - and *still* did badly. If you're stuck with her just try to stay on her good side.

She was definitely not as bad as some said she would be. Not an easy A, but she grades fairly and tells you what you need to work on (honestly, unless you put no effort into the class, your GPA won't be hurt.) You can tell she likes what she teaches and even if you don't like English the class is bearable (maybe even entertaining at times.) By the way, I absolutely loved her when compared to Kobrin.

In the beginning of the year I liked her and class was cool. Then as the year went on she liked me less and less. She's good if you can stay on her good side, but if you can't then it's like nothing you do is right or good enough.

i liked her OK, but i'm not sure if she was actually good or if she just was decent in comparison to kobrin. watching them fight while pretending to "respect each other's opinions" was extremely amusing. can't say i actually learned anything about english from her, and she's idealistic to a fault. due dates are flexible, if you tell her ahead of time - she's very understanding; that was definitely my favorite thing about her. VERY subjective grading, however...

I still have mixed feelings about her English 11 class. On the one hand, I now understand literary analysis better. But on the other hand, I feel incredibly burnt out on English. Please let them do some non-literature stuff next year! However, she is a very nice person. Her grading is tough, and it's difficult to get an A, but it's also hard to get lower than a C+. I think both she and Dr. Kobrin teach at a very advanced level (college), and those who aren't looking for that should go elsewhere.
