he's sarcastic and jokes around a lot, but he's not always super clear in his lectures but he's helpful when you ask a question, I really liked him as a teacher
Have him for AP Enviro. The class wasn't hard, but you teach yourself. Lectures do not seem to relate to the test; most of them aren't helpful. Some of the homework is busy work. Always read because some tests have super specific percentages that may not be asked in the objectives. A final word of advice--if you want to grow as a student, this class will not do much for you. Although other AP sciences are harder, but you gain so much more from the class, and they're more interesting.
Don't take APES. Too hard and he doesn't teach anything remotely close to the test. The test itself will have info from the book, but even then the textbook isn't enough. Class could consist of a PowerPoint that is no help, a movie that is no help, or worksheets that are no help.
Targ challenged me, but it was a lot to handle bio honors in freshmen year.
He is a great teacher with fairly easy tests and reasonable amt of homework. I've gone to him for help, and he is really open to my concerns. During his lectures, he is incredible at making clear analogies that makes me understand the content. Sometimes, he can't answer them, but he supports questions as long during class as they don't interfere with the time and aren't too off topic. Unfortunately class time is too short for him to really so most of us nerds have to just ask him after class.
Mr. Targ seems like he's trying hard. But even then I just don't think he's that great of a teacher. You can tell he's trying to convey the subject to the best of his ability, but unfortunately his ability isn't very extensive. So everyone ends up very confused with the subject matter and ends up learning everything from the textbook. He also takes way too long to return tests and homework which can affect your grades more than you'd think. Great person, definitely not the best teacher.
Knows his subject but is terrible at actually teaching it also his tests are impossible
He teaches what's only in the book, but even then he barely know the subject. We don't even use the book and we had to buy it. Even if you didn't buy the book you would have been fine because there are powerpoint you can find online about the subject. His tests are way too hard. The only good thing is that he is kind and a great person but is a terrible teacher.
He knows his subject but isn't the greatest teacher. His tests are way too hard.
He never covers the material that he puts on homework and tests...not my favorite. He is also not very responsive and does not help much if you have questions. Nice guy tho
Not the best of teachers. Too fast paced and does not slow downfor students. Needs to explain more in depth.
I can tell that Mr. Targ is a good person, but his class is awfully difficult for bio honors. This year there were two bio honors teachers him and Ms. Slevin. And her class had SOO much better grades than us! And I know it's not because we are any less smart than their class. It's because Mr. Targ grades unbelievably hard and I think that is just unfair. I'm just really mad and I think both teachers need to be the same difficulty.
Freshmen biology honors is really hard. Often there is not enough time to read the chapter and do the homework. Many of my friends spend over 1.5 hours on the homework. The packets are very long and a lot of my friends cram study the night before. Ms. Slevin is easier for freshmen biology because she has study guides that prepare students better for the tests. This class would be easier if he used the same study guides as the other teacher.
Great teacher! He helped me when I was struggling at the beginning of freshman year which boosted my confidence quite a bit and I ended up getting an excellent score on the bio SAT. He can be harsh sometimes when he is in a bad mood, but overall he is a great teacher who knows a lot about his subject!
I feel like I'm teaching myself most of the material, and when I don't understand something he's extremely condescending. Good teacher if you're a natural at science, makes class extremely stressful if you're not.
He's poor in the unfortunate sense that he's average for an AP teacher whereas other classes are dominated by personalities and more interesting folk. He's not bad so just stay awake and get your fair grade. He can teach you a thing or two despite what seems to be disinterest.
Assigns waaaaaaaay too much reading material for bio AP. Day 1 we get the chapter and Day 2 is a quiz. He assigned 3 chapters to be tested on in a week
Not your best AP bio teacher, but he tries hard and you will be fairly ready for the test! easy to fall asleep in class though
He's a little intimidating, but he is a really funny guy, and very forgiving and generous about late work. He wants to see us do well. He's always willing to help. I wish I 'd done better.
Perhaps not the greatest teacher but a very nice guy, always willing to help. He just doesn't realize that most people don't grasp things as quickly as he does. I like his jokes.
Targ knows so much about everything. He's an awesome teacher and a pretty cool guy. A little intimidating, though.
He's not a great teacher and his homework is a bit excessive, but his end of the year AP exam reviews are among the best in all the AP classes. Funny guy, too.
Funny, but not great at teaching. His hmwk is not particularly useful. I fear for my AP Exam.
Very helpful, you just have to seek it out; he won't do it for you.
caring&very funny! loved the subject&going to his class.but u do have to study!
Lecutres are SO boring...class difficulty is decent... just BORING
fun class, but you get out of it what you put into it
A tough teacher with an interesting assortment of shirts
Greatest chem teacher that I ever had. Loved going to his class
