All you naive nubes. I had Mr. Rush as a teacher in 1983-84 when he was at Upland High School for American Literature. Yeah, the subject matter is dry. Nathaniel Hawthorne and Emily Dickenson aren't hot topics. But, he made them interesting and relevant. 30 years later, I am still grateful to Mr. Rush for encouraging my love of literature, reading and writing. He was, and I'm sure still is, challenging because he expects his students to think. I owe him my career and thanks.
In high school I disliked Mr. Rush because he made me think, I was more fond of the stuff that came easy. I passed 2 AP tests in my worst subject thanks to him. I graduated in 1999 and reflect on him as someone who taught me to TRY. I have to say, The House with Seven Gables was a bad choice of required reading, impossible to stay awake through and terribly discouraging for high schoolers that are not naturally fond of reading literature.
It has been twenty years now, and I can say Mr.Rush has had a bigger influence on my life than any other teacher. I am blessed beyond words to have meet him Www.stonerbro.com
He was awesome. At first it was hard to grasp his teaching style but then it was very interesting. He was very "deep". He loved drinking tea!
while i found the literature interesting and him as a person interesting, the class did not fully prepare me for the AP exam nor do i feel i really learned anything substantial from the class
Mr. Rush is one of those teachers, that students will hate, unless they are able to grasp the concepts he talks about. He is a very intelligent man, I admire him and his patience for us.
Everything is rhetoric. He pointed that out to me. If you can get past his monotone voice he'll help you become a "citizen of the world."
Mr. Rush broadened my horizons in the english language. He's philosophical which might come as boring to others but really interesting to moi.
mr. rush may seem boring at first, but in the end his class is actually helpful. AFter taking this class i became more aware of the world and more a citizen of the world.
Mr. Rush epitomizes awesomeness, even though I didn't really work as much as I should have/ could have, what I took away from that class is priceless. I will never read anything the same ever again!
He is simply too old school and boring. Boredom and Learning go hand in hand with this guy !!!!!!!!!!!1
Mr. Rush is a nice & knowledgeable man. He knows what he's talking about, knows a lot about life. i actually learn from him though the class can be boring at times.
has anyone never ever fallen asleep in this class?..i wonder
great golfer, sarcastic, but funny. don't know about his class.
Finally and english teacher who KNOWS what he's talking about
He is the best teacher I have ever had! A brilliant man!
mr rush has always been one of my favorites and he was always great
