Sure, he knows alot about Latin, but is he even good at teaching it? Nope. He is hands down the worst teacher I've ever had. When you ask questions he skips over them, or he does come to you to help but he does it in such a condescending way you would never want to talk to him again. The day before the test is the only time you could ever get a review of the content out of him. He sure does set high expectations, but he also sets a big number of obstacles so you are surely never to reach it.
he does know his latin but for being in his class for such a long time you can tell he doesnt know how to teach it. He favors the majority race over minorities and you can tell this is true by the way he acts around people of color. I honestly wouldnt recommend him to any other latin student because all the knowledge i learned from that class i went home and had to teach it to myself.
he knows alot but doesn't care about his students unless your in latin 3 or higher, i had him and i was miserable. if your child is in his class or are a student be open to transferring out.
He is a good teacher, but the fact that he was completely inflexible and not understanding (and slightly egotistical) makes him one of the most disliked teachers at North. I had him for Latin I, but I heard he gets better with III and AP...
Mr. Yaggy is so enthusiastic about Latin and teaching in general and I think that is what makes him such a great teacher. He sets his expectations high for his students because he beleives that we are capable of achieving great things in the classroom and out in the real world. He goes above and beyond to set his students up for sucess through extra tutoring and after school study sessions. Any student who honestly and earnestly tries their very best in his class can be sucessful.
I am going to make sure that my child never has this teacher again. He should not be a teacher! My child worked hard in this class, trying to do their best, but the amount of work given by this teacher was way too much. He seems to believe that his class is the only one that the kids have. He treats the kids in a very demeaning way. Whoever wrote the last post obviously does not see his true colors, because he is not well liked!!
Single best teacher I've ever had, and the best at North Gwinnett. He REALLY knows his stuff, and I've never seen anyone so dedicated to his students. He's very strict, but if you play by the rules you'll get along great. And if you get to know him outside the classroom, he's super chill. He actually wants people to know their Latin, which makes lazy students consider his class difficult, but if you just pay attention to his teaching it's not too hard to learn.
Worst teacher ever! Talks down to students. Instead of being supportive he beats kids down.
It's a privilege to be in Mr. Yaggy's latin class. He holds his students to such a high standard, but puts every effort into helping us reach those standards. He is the best teacher at North Gwinnett, and definitely the best, most well respected teacher I have ever had.
very unprofessional. demeaning towards his students. uncooperative with parents. poor communciation with parents. arrogant and condescending. stay away from his class.
when it comes to teaching he's super super strict but he's cool if get to know him outside of school
He's a great teacher no doubt about it. works very hard in bringing the latin to the students, and his lectures are always enjoying, have a lot of depth in all of them that go into so many other class
Spent all four years of high school learning Latin from this guy. Most definitely the best teacher I've ever had. He's passionate about our education, and some lazies might interpret that as "tough".
His class is really hard. It's a CP (College Prep) class, but it's like an AP class. I spend a lot more time for his class than for my other AP classes.
Tough class, but he definitely knows his stuff, and has a sense of humor. People who are giving him low ratings are the ones that did not put in the effort.
3 years Latin, great teacher. Can fly off the handle sometimes, and likes to give morning detention, but nothing too bad. Also, if you're really good at latin, don't show off, he hates that.
I loved yaggy! I too only stayed in his class a week, but if i were smart enough I would have stayed. Coming in from a diff latin program was rough
You learn more than Latin in his class. He motivates you to set high goals. Strict but reasonably so. He is always there to help you. Does not ignore questions.
I like the guy, very down to earth, very considerate, never had a better teacher. all those who think he is hard or unfair are really just slackers.
I have Mr. Yaggy and he is just awesome. He is a great helper and you can ALWAYS talk to him. He is strict, but really fair!!
The single best teacher I have ever had in my life without a doubt. He has a passion for teaching that is rare. Thank you Mr. Yaggy.
I had his class for only two weeks but it was because of his ways of teaching and his attitude that made me drop his class. I was told going into it that his class was going to be hard, but I thought if I could work hard enough to earn a 101 in Mrs. Jenki
It has been four years, and quite simply put, he is the greatest teacher I've ever had. He's given me a great knowledge of linguistics. Thank you, magister.
Mr. Yaggy is the coolest teacher. He is willing to help anyone at any time. I wish all of my teachers were this great!
Mr,Yaggy is the supercoolest teacher ever! hes so cool and so nice everyone need to take his [email protected]!!!!!!!!!!!
