Biology is a boring subject, but Mr. Hunt makes it fun with his political views and publicly shaming students who aren't doing well in his class compared to his favorite pupils. Pace was fast and was a grind having to always be ready for a potential pop quiz the next day along with my schedule of other AP classes. This class is more on the lines of self-study and Mr. Hunt doesn't offer much to help students understand by detracting from the lessons with whatever was on the news the previous day.
Unless you agree with everything he says, he is by far the most degrading teacher you will ever have.
Paul Hunt is sn excellent teacher. Can’t say the same for his persona. He’s super conservative and if you say anything that doesn’t go with what he believes, he will literally try to fight you. Eventually you’ll break.
This guy is so conservative he thinks Fox News is controlled by liberals. The way he talks is so confusing and bad that i think he might be an alien. The class is boring and the homework is useless.
While being in his class, I didn't understand him. I thought he just made things confusing to make our lives more difficult. After mulling over it for a few months, I realized that he was (unlike many other teachers) trying to prepare us for our years going forward in high school. I still remember a lot of things from his class, both in science and in life lessons. He was also a pretty good meme (10/10)
While he's very knowledgeable, he makes no effort to help those who are having problems. I learned best by interaction, but his classroom is a lecture-only environment, and it made things very difficult to keep up. He also does not allow students to use the restroom (even in emergencies). Tests have absolutely nothing to do with the material discussed in class. Here's a video on photosynthesis - psych, the exam is on DNA! Awful teacher.
he's salty sometimes but overall he's aight.
Mr. Hunt is a man who knows his subject as well as his students, he is very committed to his students
All the people who are complaining about him are just (in the nicest term) wimps. They still want to be babied by teachers and have the teachers come up to them and ask if they understand or need help etc.. Mister Hunt helps you realize, that high school is about becoming self-dependent. You are not going to succeed w/o trying and applying yourself, and he teaches you that in a real way.
Hunt is a unique teacher at VPHS because of his teaching style. He lectures, you take notes, study, and take a quiz/test. Some students have a difficult time adjusting to his class, but once you learn the way he runs his class and how you should be taking notes, his class should not be too much of a challenge.
I approve of this message.
Paul is a pretty cool guy. Love im
He is one of the most memorable teachers I had at VPHS. I graduated in 2010 but the lessons he taught me carried on through college and now into medical school. At the time, his class stressed me out the most, and I questioned why he taught things certain ways, but now I understand where he was coming from and appreciate his unique methods. The things you learn from him will stick with you throughout life, whether the information is biology related or not.
BEST TEACHER YOU'LL EVER HAVE!! It's a big adjustment from middle school, but he prepares you for high school. Sure, he doesn't answer all questions, but he wants you to learn instead of being spoon-fed the answer. He allows you to succeed in the class if you work hard. And, whether you think the material is relevant or not, it always ends up being applicable in the end. All other subjects - math, history, english - are applied in this class. One of the highest AP passing rates at VP. Miss him!
A very knowledgeable man, which I highly respect. However, he often lets his VERYconservative views get mixed into his teaching, which almost entirely undetected by the students. He seems to favor some students over others, often prioritizing them over others who actually do need his help, sometimes entirely waving off questions by those who he has a low approval rating of. Seems to enjoy loading students with homework, and lectures are often sidetracked by other topics.
his class is too easy, dont see what you guys are complaining about :p
He is an awesome teacher. If you frequently ask him questions and actually study, you will end up getting a good grade.
Mr. Hunt is a great teacher and students just joining his class will take time to adapt to his teaching style. The honors class is pretty much a prep for the AP class. Don't worry you'll get the hang of it.
He is one of the best and most difficult teachers you will ever have. Everything you know will be turned on its head. WARNING: Do not procrastinate and prepare for vague instructions. In this class you teach yourself; you will be challenged. PREPARE.
i would not miss a day of this class he is an amazing teacher who teaches more than any of my other teachers combined and is all around an amazing teacher but be warned the class is like a colleage coarse and sould be taken serousely and ia a great class
alright, so, well. He isnt helpful, like if you ask him a question for example, why are dogs mammals? he just answers why do you think are dogs mammals? Its a bit annoying -.- but you get used to it. Oh, and we read two books. ..... :( they're actually quite good though! Also, at first i had a D , in the class... YES a D, but the class gets easier when you realize you need a 'good' studying strategy. I find his teaching very random. but now i have a B. and maybe almost an A . i
Mr. hunt is a great teacher. He's nice, funny and his class is one of the most interesting classes on campus.
Awesome teacher. Wasn't easiest class, but he taught well and always answered questions. Very nice person and very lenient. Prepare before class and be ready for quizzes.
Can't argue with results(5s). Sophmore year if you go with chem instead of AP, you'll be sitting in Corbett, wishing with all your heart that you hadn't. Do the work, dare to enjoy yourself.
A very great teacher. He can be a little confusing at times, but still. You learn so much in his class, and it's a lot of fun! I'll miss having him as a teacher.
Talks to fast, hard to understand, gives a ton of homework, doesn't always answer our questions,
Well, well, well. The shoe is on the other foot. No im kidding. Unless you are an incompetent person you will thrive in this class. Though I think it should say politics instead of science.
stick it out with him freshmen. take his class sophmore year. i did, got a 5 on AP test and 800 on sat 2. better teacher than you think!
Mr. Hunt PWNS! I've learned more English in his class than in Mrs. Will's. I love how he allows anyone to get extra credit by doing well in quizzes and going above the curve, also by turning in early
Ignore all of the people who tell you "He's too hard" or "I got a C becuase he hated me." It's all BS. Mr. Hunt gives you the grade you earn and he prepares you for the other tough high school courses
I absolutely loved Mr. Hunt's class. He changed my life and my way of thinking, and I'll always have fond memories of his rants. And now, I, like many of his former students, aim to major in Biology.
i got 5 on the exam but as long as you study and read the material you should be fine in this class.*ignore his rants if you can*unless targeted at YOU*~justin lee
I don't know what everyone is complaining about. He is an excellent teacher and is not unreasonable, and contrary to popular belief, his class is not difficult.
He is the best teacher I have ever had and I will always acknowledge him for giving me a better education.-Jay Ramsay
There may be a lot of rumors about Mr. Hunt, but he truly is a great teacher. Honors biology is more difficult that AP Biology. He will help you get a 5. Review the CliffsAPBIO and brightstorm.com
He obviously knows what he's teaching very well, but the kind of work and the difficulty of tests and quizzes are too much.
hes a cool guy, fun to argue with and play 13 with and a really good teacher, even if he went to usc (BOOO) haha
Mr hunt is definitely one of the best teachers at villa park. As scary as people make him sound, he really isnt. The class is usually always xciting n fun although a bit hard. I'll 4 sho miss him.
he's a funny guy and knows a lot about biology he wants whats best for the students but he teaches at a very hard level which means u have to match up or ur basically fail.
He's really funny but his class is only hard because it actually makes us think instead of all the other boring classes.
*clear throat* as i wait for the night to end, my last thought before i go to sleep each night is: what did i learn in AP Bio today? i remember because he drills it into my brain. mr, hunt is amazing.
very hard class. lectures confusing. has favorites. doesn't try to help his students.
Mr Hunt is Awesome! one of the few teachers who actually gets to know his students and really cares. not to mention he's an incredible teacher.
cool guy,he treated me as a foreigner though, HIS CLASS IS NOT HARD his ap bio is considered one ofthe easiest, i didnt even take his hon bio and passed with a. if u whine about his classyour patheti
tough but knows his subject and he is political true but hilarious to talk to
k guys, he does get sidetracked, but with how much you actually learn and understand, he is an amazing teacher. but yes, being a usc fan does help you get an A. lol. well. kinda. 2 thumbs up.
Basically, you will learn everything in his class under one condition... you actaully try? ? I know geez try? Pretty much best teacher at the school hands down, but you do have to read and try. GREAT!
He likes to overload us. He makes it a point to be as unhelpful as possible. He has his own curriculum, so studying is tedious and unreliable. Don't try to impress attract attention, it'll backfire.
he's a great teache, but i don't like the way he tests students. it's so hard and not fair. he always counts the key words only and that doesn't make scence at all.
great teacher. class is either gonna be really hard for u or really easy. if u get through honors ok, AP will be a breeze. Go Bruinsssssssss yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Hardest class I have taken in my entire life. Good luck with this is you aren't the brightest crayon in the box. He may be a great teacher, but his class was too hard for me!
one word. sarcastic. and at a level that will orient you into the world out there. if you can't handle it, look to have an even more difficult time in college and beyond. go mr. hunt!
Great teacher! He is a guy who likes to argue with people, so if you want to get along with him, make sure to speak up in class. He also set me up with my soon to be fiance...
freshman year he seemed like he only favored smart kids..but then in his AP class i learned a LOT and if you try hard the class will be a blast.
hes issss sooooo hard. get out of the class as fast as u can
He is by far the BEST teacher i've ever had! Too bad i can't have him as a teacher next year. If you work hard in his class, you'll learn more than you can ever imagine.
Mr. Hunt will not respect u if you're not one of his favorites.alks too much about stuff he doesnt know. 1 of the few teachers at vp i cant respect
Mr. Hunt is a wonderful teacher and mentor. He makes you appreciate the complexity of life. He has inspired me to major in a field relating to biology.
He's definitely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Despite our disagreements in political preferences, he gets the info to stay in your head. Keep it up.
Mr. Hunt was THE greatest teacher I have ever had. He inspired me to major in biology in college, and he is unparalleled as both a teacher and a mentor.
i took mr hunts regular bio class freshman year, it was a great class, i learned alot , im going to be a junior im happy i had him as a teacher.
Mr. Hunt is a very rude and disresepectful teacher. He may know a lot about science, but he spends too much time talking about football, NASCAR, and politics.
an ok teacher. dont like him. but in class i try to like him but he hvent earned my respect yet. so. hes ok. not so great or not so bad like others said.
He doesn't favor smart kids, he favors kid who try hard. If you are dumb and don't try, why should he care about you? Mr. Hunt is the best teacher at VP
he's a pretty cool guy, but i had to get a tutor to pass the class. gets off subject A LOT!
I can easily say mr.hunt has been my favorite teacher & my favorite class. yes he favors the smart kids (i'm not one of them), but who cares the class is great
how bout YOU start an AP class and see how easy it easy to have a 96% pass rate. THEN you can decide wat rating mr hunt deserves. hes awesome.
i can honestly say ive learned more in this AP class than any other ive taken at vp. if youre willing to work and listen..take it
Ylearn a lot. He gets really side tracked >>Every Day<<. If he doesn't think you are smart, or you don't pick fights with him he ignors you. :(
You better be a Republican, and you better get on his good side from day 1, good luck, ALWAYS TAKE NOTES
He is a great teacher and its too bad the ratings dont show it
dude mr hunt ur one of the best teachers at this skool. I guess he does favor the smarter students, but iz coo for me. I can't wait to take his AP course.
Talks alot of politics and a lot about USC. He is an awesome teacher
USC fan and Dodgers fans.........cant say i like that about him, but after this year, i will realize he's a good teacher, but for now.....UCLA & Angels for life
Never helps. Always puts down. Lectures are never clear. Always wants to be right. Talks about football too much which wastes time. Favors the smarter students.
He's a good teacher, just a little indimidating. He never means ill, just talks very straight forwardly.
great class... likes to make fun of people though... ah well, not so much me so it's all good
After getting kicked outta his room forever I stopped caring, but seriously his class is like crossing the ocean without a boat.
Got a 5 on the AP test, and an 800 on the SAT II without ever opening the book. Good teacher.
he expects us to be mature young adults and be in harge of your own education, whch he offers. poepl e fails becuase they dotn take that opportunity.
