Class of '99 student here. Had Mr. Kick as my Freshman Honors English teacher. I work in management at a well-known high-tech company now. Just wanted to pop in to say that Mr. Kick was probably the best teacher I've ever had (and that's even compared to all of my university professors). He probably won't even remember me, nor would I ever tell him that to his face, but I still remember a lot of his stories/lessons to this day. He's a very tough teacher, but very knowledgeable and fair.
ah yes he is an absolutely amazing teacher. Tough? yes. Inspiring? VERY. If you have him in the future, don't hate this class or just give up. If you make it through the first test and manage to stay in the class, it's an honor.
I'm a current student of Mr. Kick's this year, and I have to say he will push you to your breaking point. You'd think that's such a bad thing because of the stress, but he's actually better than how his previous students have described him to us. Yes, his class comes with a load of work and it just might be the only class you worry about, but it's actually a privilege. He's extremely hilarious and absolutely inspiring. He's also a very sad man.. his past is so deep, he should have his own movie.
I'm 35, and the things I learned from Paul Kick have stuck with me. He's one of only two teachers I can say that about. I had him as a freshman for Honors English, I swam varsity with him for 3 years, and spent two years on the school newspaper, ultimately serving as the Editor-in-Chief during my senior year. I can't say enough good things about what he taught me about work ethic and finding your passion. He's hard, and he's going to push you to the breaking point, but he's an amazing teacher.
Mr. Kick is one of the best teachers I have ever encountered. He is very passionate about his students and provides any type of help from homework to college advice. I was only in his class for the 4th grading period, yet Mr. Kick has helped me so much. He is a really cool guy to talk to despite the difficulty of his class. To be in Mr. Kick's class is REAL AWESOMENESS.
Mr. Kick is the best teacher I had my whole life, and you could learn many things from him.
he is a very challenging teacher
Mr. Kick is an extremely hard teacher especially as freshmen. But in the long Run he is so worth it and a great teacher. Not only does he teach English but life And he's so supportive about your education life
He's an incredible teacher, and incredibly intimidating. I sat in the front row and could feel his icy stare pierce into my soul. He reminded me of the bald eagle posters hung on his wall. However, he is so passionate about his job and helping you get ahead, it makes it all worthwhile.
Mr. Kick is a teacher that has gained reputation throughout Oak Grove and beyond for his insightful and valuable lessons. However, while pride is the one of the qualities of his student, having Mr. Kick means studying nearly every day and being prepared for nearly impossible tests.
Very strict teacher. Will make you get far in life. Hardest yet funnest calss in high school. English 1A (:
He's very strict and very harsh on his students, but he wants us to work hard to succeed. I like him very much.
He's an amazing teacher who really pushes you to do your best.
He's really an outstanding teacher: He's pushed me further than other teachers have even thought of. I believe he will make me reach the level I want to achieve.
All I can say about this man is that he is one of the rare teachers that go out of their way to make sure you understand the material. Mr. Kick is the best teacher I have ever been taught by. ' L ' )
Toughest class you'll have to take in high school. He makes it seem a little easier with his humor, though. He doesn't make you do stuff you can't do. A lot of essays and tests. School = English 1A
The best teacher i've ever had. PERIOD. HE'S THE AWESOMEST!!!
he scares me... but he seems like a good teacher. i only have him for NHS so i dont really know.. but from what i do now, hes okay i guess
Great teacher. Good adviser. Work hard and you will do well in his class.
I had Mr. Kick in my freshman year. Even though he is strict on our work, he jokes around to make the learning process fun. He is a great teacher and a good mentor. You will learn a lot in his class.
I had him (gulp) over 14 years ago. I was his editor-in-chief. I enjoyed him a lot and he made me believe in myself. Now I am a teacher.
Even though Kick is the biggest nerd, he is an awsome guy. Without Kick, Oak Grove wouldn't be the same!
Walking into Mr.Kick's English class was absolutely hilarious. I got yelled at every single day, but hey it was all worth it. Mr. Kick, you rock!
Paul is the man...his class is hard, but if you do everything he tells you to then you'll do well. Stands among the best English teachers at OG. Good Mentor.
He makes sure we understand, but sometimes his jokes are just awful..or just a bit too..weird. Quite a temper on him, too. Not to mention he doesn't think twice about the humilia
The work really prepared me for highschool, even though it was one of the toughest class I took. And he is really cool to talk to outside of class.
he's funny yet hard. he'll make you work in his class but i enjoyed him. his stories are awesome! plus, he's a person you can really relate to.
well, he is a hard teacher. I had him for honors fresh eng. When I was a senior he was a really cool guy to talk to. so hang in there!
His sense of humor mixed with his great teaching ability create an awesome classroom environment. You rock Mr. Kick!!!
