He changed the course of my career. He taught me how to learn and he honestly prepared me more for college than any other class. After taking his class I had the nerve to go into AP classes and did well. Yes he's tough, yes he pushes you outside of your comfort zone, and yes he tells you to investigate the answer yourself, but that's exactly how you grow and learn. He wants students to learn that they will find conflicting answers, and different perspectives in the real world.
I graduated 7 years ago and still have nightmares. He is a knowledgeable guy, but knowledge does not make a good teacher. He possibly had aspberger's and spent far too much time concerned with details that have no importance in real life. Little to no people skills. I dreaded his class.
Now that I've gotten that out, maybe I can move on with my life.
Mr.Witt is a mediocre teacher at best. He never gives a strait answer and always just tells you "good question, I don't know" if you ask something and then tells you you should have looked it up beforehand, even if the thought just occurred to you. He doesn't even offer to find out and get back to you about your question. He says that everything should be done for the learning and not for the credit, and gives no thought to the fact that not everyone is intrigued by his profession.
I really hope whoever said that "people who dislike him are only blinded by the workload" is a professional troll. I have absolutely no problem with the workload in his class. It is a welcome challenge, and I received an A last semester in his class, doing things "for the learning." The problem I have is with him. He is one of the least helpful people I have ever met, because of his twisted logic and ridiculous way of "teaching."
This guy does not know when the Narwhal Bacons...
He's a great teacher and I've learned a ton. If you're staying up late every night doing homework, maybe you should start before midnight. It's honestly an hour max most nights except for the projects he gives like 2 weeks in advance. Narwhal Bacon.
Mr. Witt is a very good teacher. It's clear he knows his material and wants his students to be enthusiastic about what they're learning. Although he may have different teaching styles, he just wants to get his students to think. Sure the class is a tough one, especially in Honors, but anyone who complains about his as a person is just blinded by the workload. It is absurd to claim you didn't learn anything from him, because that's simply not possible if one is attending class.
Obviously he assigns too much homework, but he doesn't have sympathy for his students either. He doesn't realize that students have extracurricular activities on top of homework (3 hours. I usually started my homework at 9 at night and it is completely unrealistic for me to stay up until 3:00 each night finishing HW for his class. He knows the curriculum that he is teaching, but as soon as you asked him a question spurring off from that topic, he always replied I'm not sure, that's not my field
Mr. Witt doesn't really teach us anything because everything we learn is through the homework, which we do by ourselves at home. That would make sense, if we could ask him what we're confused on in cl
Mr. Witt simply doesn't realize that his normal class is NOT honors. He assigned HOURS UPON HOURS of homework daily and believes his class should take priority over all others. He does not answer simp
Mr. Witt is very knowledgeable, and has very high expectations for his classes, which isn't a bad thing. However, sometimes he forgets what students in his standard classes signed up for - which is no
Mr. Witt is very knowledgable and smart, but I don't think he realizes how much work his students get in there other classes, assigning almost 2-3 hours of HW a day. He also very strict and doesnt hav
He's a pretty good teacher, but he yells at kids for not doing one thing, and his shoes squeak a lot. He makes people feel like they are the dumbest person sometimes. He also needs to realize students
Mr. Witt is a very detail oriented person and he has very high standards for his students, especially his Honors classes. Despite this he is an amazing teacher and really knows his stuff. Also his cla
man two days in and already feel bad about his biology class.... although i don't know how i'm going to do good in my classes w/out iPad(did not actually get grade yet)
He is a teacher who asks the best of you, to push past your limits. He asks you to think outside the box and explore resources. He changed my way of thinking, challenged my brain to work. I loved it
I hate him. He will give you 3 hours of homework a night. This can easily be expanded to 5-6 if you're a procrastinator. I stay up until 1 am EVERY day trying to do his homework. (4.0 GPA student.)
He is an amazing teacher. If you want to learn the material he is teaching, then you will enjoy the class much more. He may be unreasonable at times... but this was my favorite class sophomore year.
He is a great teacher if you are interested in the subject. Otherwise, you will probably hate him.
Graduated from Stanford. He is smart. He gives a lot of work, but manageable.
Sure, he's really smart, and you learn a lot, but he's really quite mean, and not very reasonable. I know that's not the point of being a teacher, but it's really hard to learn when you hate him.
Witt was a really good teacher. Very Socrates like. He is so over qualified for his position and he really knows and loves what he is teaching.
Good teacher. Everyone complains about his "agenda", but we live in a changing world, and the things he brings up should be considered.
Amazing teacher. Like, the only Teacher in the school who actually asks us students for effort. Also, he works hard and puts effort into the class, unlike most.
Teaches more than just biology sometimes. He will really make you think during class discussions, it's scary sometimes. Yes, he does give a lot of homework, but he really is a great teacher.
There's at least three hours of homework a night. You learn a lot in class but he does try to force you to believe what he believes. Doesn't really listen to his students.
if you want to learn take Mr Witts class, if you want to goof off switch out
One of the greatest teachers in the school! Yes, he gives 200+ question tests. Yes, homework assignments usually take 2-4hrs a NIGHT. Challenging yet reasonable. Is helpful if you're serious about Bio
Ugh. I hate him. These assignments are far too much. He doesn't offer any help in class (standard answer: "look it up") and almost takes pride in being hard to understand.
He tries to be funny, which is pretty cool, but he gives TONS of homework. If you like sleep, this class is NOT for you. He is really strict, and slacking off in his class is not an option.
One of the hardest teacher in the non honors program. He is extremely intelligent but expects too much out of regular students. Expect to study A LOT.
Witt definately isn't very helpful, he goes off on long tangents relating to nothing and it really annoys me.
He is never helpful because if you ask a question relating to something he might have already said, he will pester you with question for what seems hours.
The best way to describe him is Socrates, answers questions with questions. He researches all the homework, so he's a good information source if you need help.
