Good guy, seems incredibly smart about english stuff. However, as others have said, he doesn't have class control and never connects with students (in fact, I haven't heard him call someone's name since the beginning of the semester, which leaves me to assume that he doesn't know anyone). He's an okay grader, not too bad, but not too great. Doesn't play favorites, because he doesn't know the kids in class. You can goof off in class, and still do reasonably well(like A-).But pretty chill overall.
I hate coming to this class. Didn't even sign up for it but somehow ended up in it and it is the most boring class I've had at bell. This guy is very unclear on the assignments and half the time doesn't know what was due or what we are supposed to be reading. Slowest grader I've ever had, probably cause he writes so many movie reviews.
Had him for English 1 Honors, 2013. Really smart in terms of English, some of the other english teachers might even express that he's a genius in subsequent classes. Chill class, he's pretty lax with students so you can kind of do whatever you want to , but try your hardest not to. Doesn't really develop a bond with kids, but that's fine. Also, when writing an essay, be sure to ask him to review it.
From the start of my acting class, he branded us the "slacker" class and told us that nearly every day. Saying that, he had little class control and often told us in no uncertain terms he preferred his other classes. Still refuses to acknowledge me outside in the quad
nice teacher. Rather easy but you learn a lot. also writes movie reviews and directs some school plays.
Mr. Canavese is my current english teacher. I think that he is a good teacher and is somewhat helpful, and i think that he is a very knowledgable person and will give you all the information for essays and projects weeks before they are do.
Awesome teacher.. helped alot of my work. had him for eng 1 honors. I totally recommend you to have him as a teacher.
Also teaches gender roles... i think.
really easy english 1 honors class, easier than most regular english classes. there's no busy work, and the course is simply the essentials of writing, making it a class where you work a little but learn a decent amount. The trial at the end of the year is really fun, and it's easy to change due dates/amend the syllabus if most of the class agrees with you
He has no class control, at all. It's easy stuff, so the class is fun. He also lets you take notes on a laptop if you got it, and rarely checks to see what you're doing.
Though at times he has trouble keeping the class under control, the material itself is quite easy. If you have any trouble, he's more than happy to help and is occasionally willing to let you turn stuff in a bit late. I came out of his class (most of the time) feeling like I learned a lot. Prepared me for English 2.
Very relaxed teacher, plus he knows his stuff. Bug him about movie reviews to waste time in class.
needs to be specific on what he wants and give more time to work in class. all in all funny but needs to be less vague
terribly boring english teacher. does not know what he is doing and cannot keep class in control. no lesson plans, never hands back papers. nice guy though
He is not only a bad teacher but he's also a bad guy
If you only want to take Gender Roles for the heavily advertised "Fight Club" (book and movie), which's only 2 weeks of the semester, think again. Lots of work.
