Had his class first period and he would come in 15 mins late, then take 15 mins to take attendance, then would go off topic for the rest of the period...I had to teach myself the material the day before the regents

If you are a physics person you will like Mr. Johnson's class. I liked his class a lot, and I think people do not give him enough credit. People assume that because he sometimes diverges from the lesson that he is not teaching them anything. It might not feel like it to most students, but he DOES cover all of the necessary material in each class. When I was in his class it was laid-back and enjoyable, but I still left with about 3 pages of notes every day and a great understanding of the lesson.

He knows his stuff, but he doesn't know how to convey his "knowledge" to students. He's nice, and sometimes he can be witty. But HELP HIM, HE CANNOT TEACH! HE ALWAYS GETS OFF TOPIC, AND HE BARELY TEACHES! Many students in his class don't care and use their phones in his class. Many students walk out mid class, and he doesn't even notice! He's AWFUL! He cannot control a class AT ALL! We're rushing through things, and no one is absorbing any "information." So many kids FAIL in his class!

My son was completely to lost in this class for the entire year, so much so that when asked by a tutor what the class was covering, he could not provide an answer. He did receive an A in the class, but when asked, he said he should have received an F...he knew absolutely nothing. He did not take the regent as he knew he would not pass it. A very sad and disheartening experience for us to witness.

I feel like I'm better off teaching myself physics whether I get a review book or find a tutor. He's extremely confusing and his tests make little to no sense. He did not even grade any of the homework for a marking period because students kept handing them in at different times. Not only does this show that he cannot control a class, but not grading homework (a low percentage of your grade but it can still help) makes my average go down. I try to pay attention in his class but it's impossible.

You're gonna fail the regents with him as your teacher. He tries to teach it he can't control the class. Good luck!

Such an easy 100! But i'm screwed for the regents. I think he hates his students and he is SUCH a bad teacher. He really does not teach at all! Good luck. Maybe transfer to Dr. Cheng if you get him. Take Johnson if you can teach yourself, because you'll get 100. But if you actually want to be taught and work in class, take Cheng

It's an awkward class, not going to lie. If you actually pay attention, he'll give you good notes.. sometimes. For this class, if you want to pass the Regents, you MUST learn the material on your own. He is willing to help, but his classes like to take advantage of him. He also contradicts himself sometimes. The good thing is that he'll give you high marks even if you do poorly on the tests.

Johnson is incredibly laid back. The workload is easy, if you pay attention you can learn, but you really have to work at keeping focus. Answer questions and he'll love you. But if you wanna pass the regents you need to study by yourself

He is a horrible teacher. He yells someone asks him a question and always blames students for everything. Studying by yourself is a MUST in this man's class. Sometimes, I regret even taking physics. More than half of his students usually fail the regents. Now what does that say about a teacher? By the way, even if your smart, good luck. I have a 95 average and this class is sending my 97 out the window.

ok teacher, if you pay attention you can learn in his class, but studying and reviewing is a must. doesn't follow through on much, either.

I love physics, but I wish he would teach us more. He's quite unclear. The only way you'll learn something in his class is if you prod him with physics questions. He teaches those who are interested.

He's a really nice laid back guy. The only problem is if a class tries to take advantage of his niceness it can make it harder for those who are trying. He's a very fair grader and if you try you will generally be rewarded.
