Señora Rabassa is one of the few Spanish teachers at GHS that actually teaches Spanish. Going into her class was difficult because I wasn't the strongest at Spanish, but over the course of the year she taught me so much and I became so much stronger in the language. Her workload is doable and her grading isn't very harsh. Make sure you so the homework and participate in the class. Participation is everything to her!!! Totally recommend!!
Señora Rabassa is one of the best Spanish teachers I've had. She really takes her time to make sure all of the students understand difficult topics/grammar concepts, and enjoys doing so. With that being said, she is also strict and some of her tests are difficult, but fair. In order to do well, you will need to put in some effort. Sometimes the classes can also be a bit slow, but I feel like this is just the nature of the course.
Ribassa is a native Spanish speaker who is knowledgeable about the subject, but she has a mean streak. Since she doesn't control the class, she will suddenly look out at everyone and point out the students she dislikes by exaggerating what they're doing. Sometimes, she even cut down classmates who were actually helping others with the assignment. Spanish is about talking to each other and learning by practicing. Ribassa doesn't make that happen during class.
Sra Ribassa arbitrarily assigns participation scores to students, which hurts your grade since it is a meaningful percent and it isn't based on organized class discussions. I'm glad I'm not one of the few boys in the class who she would be mean towards and call out when others behaved far worse. More importantly, I watched classmates like myself who love Spanish and who have always enjoyed the exchange in class become apathetic and unhappy. Sra takes the joy out of learning.
As a student who isn't the best at Spanish, I was pretty fearful going into Sra. Rabassa's class. Many of my classmates said she was the hardest of the Spanish teachers. I always wasn't the best at spanish, but Sra. Rabassa always helped me and made sure I understood all of the content. By the end of the year, I had improved so much and had an enthusiasm coming into class each day! I was so glad I had her as a teacher.
She was very difficult to communicate with. We told our child to work with her and see her for assistance. She was rarely available for her and didn't like her from the beginning. She had favorites and decided from the beginning that our child was not as strong as her classmates. Even with a tutor nothing was good enough. I have never rated a teacher before and usually would put it on my child but her attitude was terrible.
If you are nice/respectful, do all assignments and participate, she will love you forever. She is very reasonable and understanding and you really do learn alot. Aside from obnoxious frosh, great year
she cries so much about her job. QQ fest in her class. tuff grader, learned decent amount. nice in beginning year, nice on last day of school. mean every other day.
really nice person but not a great teacher. doesnt really make the effort to make sure kids understand the stuff, and kinda seems afraid of the kids in a way.
shes a great teacher shes nice and actually teaches. Her class is hard so I didnt do great on all the tests and quizes but you have to do all the homework or your F'd.def my fav teacher this year

I bet a lot of these are blanked out for talking about how erm... attractive she is. She is a great teacher I am just not good at Spanish. Honors 5 is really hard, if you can't keep up your done.
this class is so bloody hard she does not teach wht is on the tests
aw i love ms.rabassa. such a great teacher and she actually teaches us spanish! we get off topic a lot but thats a good thing :]
shes a REALLY good spanish teacher. shes understanding and makes class fun (although our class is OUT OF CONTROL she still finds a way to put up with us) *she's also good looking for a teacher*
She's nice, but she talks to much about her baby and personal life instead of Spanish. She talks in Spanish way too fast and I rarely understand what she is talking about. My grades are down in this subject than from last year with Mrs. Lewis
well she as favorites and i am not one of them. that makes her class so much worse.
Ms. Rabassa was by far the most understanding teacher i have ever met. her classes are fun and that's what made me want to go every day.
