Ms. Hayden is an EXTREMELY hard teacher and her freshman class is brutal, but GOSH does she know know what she is doing! Her grading policy is pretty whack, and there is a ridiculous hw load, but you leave this course a much better writer and reader and you'll be thankful she was your teacher. You'll be happy you took her class. (It makes the next 3 years of english a piece of cake)
Ms.Hayden is a good English teacher. She teaches very well and teaches a lot of topics, but her grading is slightly ridiculous. When schools claim that their average grade is a C, she takes this seriously. Ms.Hayden's average grade for essays may well be in the C-range. I would recommend her, however, because she good at what she teaches and is very knowledgable. She had a lot of good book choices for the class, and she also taught a lot about grammar.
Ms. Hayden certainly has her ups and downs. She pushes her students much harder than she said. That being said, she sure gets results. I hated her at first because if the ridiculous homework load, impossible tests, and harsh grading. She was often unclear and had many "unspoken" requirements for assignments. The reason I give her 4 stars, is because by gosh my writing improved tremendously with her help. I truly went from zero to hero. And while this year has been brutal, I'm truly grateful.
Ms. Hayden is overqualified to be teaching freshman in honors english. She really should be teaching college. She has a reputation as a harsh freshman teacher, but that being said she is truly intelligent and really cares about her students. She wants you to do well. She teaches you like writers should be taught. She has a policy where all papers can be revised and you can earn a total new grade. She loves seeing students out of class. Stick it out in this class, you'll leave a better writer.
Difficult, but she is definitely a keeper. She is ALWAYS there to help you. Once, I needed her help interpreting poems and she sat with me for 2 hours until I got it. She is very knowledgeable and she loves students and teaching. I had her for 2 years and it was such a valuable experience
Strict, pray to god you can pass the class
basically i learned all my english this year from wikihow. she also only judges by how your work looks and not what it says.
With grading she does grade hard and it can really be discouraging when you get your grade back. But what a lot of people don't understand is she has to be one of the few teachers that love their job. Her courses are for honors credit so its on you if you think she gives out too much work. The amount of work is a lot but it's not like its not do-able. I feel bad for her..like shes a really nice person and honestly the people on here are over exagerating. But it's your opinion so whatever.
Has a bad rep as a harsh teacher freshman year, but she helps people improve on writing with lots of essays and she cares about her students. Its just important to do your work and you'll be fine.
I absolutely hate ms.hayden. She gives students bad grades if their opinon isn't the same as hers. :/
I don't really like her very much. Leaving it at that
I know a lot of people hate her and I understand why, she is a hard grader and gives a lot of homework. There were a lot of writing assignments and it could get overwhelming. I honestly think that I did learn a lot in her class though. Thanks to her I've become really good at writing analytical papers. You can tell that she really likes her subject and she is always available for extra help if you need it.
She gives so much work and i understand that because it's high school but somedays it's just too much! She is also very vague. Also, she tells me to do one thing and when i do it she says that it is wrong. I cant do anything right according to this lady..
Although i hated having her when she was my english teacher freshman year, I'm now very thankful that i did have her. I think she is very good at teaching people how to improve their writing and her open rewrite policy allows you to keep rewriting major papers until you get an A (and she will erase the old grad). The amount of work she assigned was ridiculous, but it paid off in the end by really improving my writing.
I don't like this lady at all. She is seriously narrow minded, and she has favorites and shows it. She doesn't listen to ideas that kids she JUDGES as "bad" kids and she has no expressive writing feelings. If you notice in her class, all of her papers and assignments are things that teach you about direct writing guidelines. No expressions like poems and interpretations. She is a bad teacher and I'm sorry if you have her
i mean i really don't think ms.hayden is that bad. Sure, she isn't the best teacher but she cares about her students and how well they're doing. She doesn't give that much homework and I think she is kind of a fair grader. Mr.sHayden really isn't such a bad teacher. Although she is a rally harsh grader :(
Sucks cuz she hates me. There are these ppl in my class she loves, and she is good to them. Im nearly failing her class.
After leaving my class of individuals who didn't like Ms. Hayden, I've realized that she really was an inspiring teacher. I got a lot out of our work. Classes with her were always fun.
Ok, I know I'm in the minority here, of people who don't hate her, but she isn't that bad. I'm not saying she's good, she is a harsh grader, but you can tell that she cares about teaching.
Ms. Hayden is a fantastic teacher who--- ahahahhahahha just kidding worst teacher ever.
Really, she isn't THAT bad. She does get a bit confusing in her assignments and is a very harsh grader, but at least she's upbeat in class and allows for some fun once in a while.
All things aside Ms. Hayden knows what she's talking about. She is a very smart woman, yet incredibly close-minded to the views of others and the harshest grader I've ever had. She is incredibly hated by the student population, with good reason. She'll meet with you as much as you want- she's totally available, but I would find myself hesitant to meet with her because it felt useless. Her work load is hard, often many things overlapping one another. Overall, she may be smart, but shouldn't be teaching kids.
She completly discouraged me from liking english. She really does know her stuff and is really interested in literature, but you'll get graded so harshly you know know what hit you. She's a very nice person but a very harsh teacher.
the problem with her is that she needs to open her eyes up to other people's opinions. She will mark you down if you don't have the same opinion as her. On the bright side, she is there if you need things clarified but otherwise there is nothing else good to say about this woman. She is completely unqualified to teach and needs to grade herself before she grades others.
will grade you off for no reason, also has strange quaker methods.
will never agree with you unless you have the same idea as hers, mad boring class, mad borin assignments, lots of wriitng, ltots of reading, not so fun, not encouraging, no fun, good cookies =]
Not a nice person. If she does not agree with you she will mock your ideas and it if very discouraging.
British Lit H senior year. A very nice person who is passionate about the works you read in class. Always makes for interesting class discussions, but her personal connections to the books are so strong that she forms her own personal prejudices. Don't worry, back up your opinions with evidence or your own experiences and she will respect your creativity. Lots of hw and at least 1 essay every two weeks, but you will leave a better writer, gauranteed. Take advantage of open rewrite policy + extensions.
funniest class i've ever had. laughed more in her class then all my classes, especially that macbeth project back in 2002. Ask her for the macbeth video form 02
The best teacher I've had in high school. Many students mistake her frankness and intent on getting students to improve themselves for meaness. Makes you work
she had the tendency to flare her nostrils whenever i tried to say something, she's nice cuz she bakes stuff and has good ideas but i still hated the class
she shot down some of my best ideas. very rigid, i wasn't a fan.
Best English teacher ive ever had. Hard, but you appreciate her most when you notice how much your writing has improved
very hard teacher, expects a lot, i have never learned so much before. even though the students do not have fun and neither did i, i am thankful for everything
I could not stand this woman. I'm very sure that she made an opinion about kids in our class and graded them according to that.
