Some people like him, but I feel like you have to be a VERY unique person to be able to connect with him. He gives at least an hour reading everyday plus questions. He is also heavily focused on the NHD project (which I personally don’t mind). But, your grades in his class depend too much on participation. I always do the reading but don’t like participating because of my anxiety. It feels unfair.

Looking back, I wish I had appreciated his APUSH class more. He seems intense but he is passionate about what he teaches and often times it seems like there is too much info (and homework) that he's throwing at you in class. Classes are discussion based and he does his best to make everyone feel comfortable about expressing their opinions. In the end, I found his class to be interesting and a great experience. He curved up my final grade despite me being a quiet student which I was grateful for

Few teachers are as passionate about their respective subjects as Mr. Sandler is. His exams are fair but they are difficult ad he assigns a lot of work but ultimately, it is worth it because his APUSH class is super enlightening. He knows everything about history and by the end, he makes many of his students appreciate it much more.

Took APUSH &Jewish History w/ Sandler. Two of the best classes i took in hs. Not enough can be said about what a motivating, inspiring teacher Sandler is. Remember his lessons&conversations in Jewish History better than I do many of the classes I've taken in college. Jewish history trip around the LES was a highlight of my time in HS. Going to stuy and not taking a class with Sandler is like coming to nyc&not seeing a broadway show - there are other great things, but you're missing a highlight

A TOUGH workload. Good luck if you have any type of extracurricular, this guy is crazy, he gives over 1 hour homework a day. Doesn't care much if you have other tests or big assignments due. Class is decent, he rushes a lot. Picks favorites, if he doesn't know your name, don't expect him to help you. Gives unproportionally high workload with not so good grades for the average student. Unless you enjoy doing 1+ hour homeworks, and difficult exams, try to transfer out into Stern ASAP.

Class is fun and engaging; he's very passionate about teaching history. HIs tests are meaningful and he designs them to prepare us for the AP. He gives out a good amount of hw every night, but they're meaningful and helps us in class. He truly cares and understands his students (he went to Bronx Science himself) and spends a lot of time preparing his lesson plans.

Great teacher, but tough workload. He gives surprisingly good grades to make up for all the work, though, and there are many extra credit opportunities. Expect an hour of homework per night, but a very engaging and interesting class.

One cannot simply hate Mr. Sandler. His class is always so energetic and informational; you learn so much from him speeding through a million ppt slides in 1 period and constantly bringing up vivid stories. It's amazing how memorable his lessons are. His tests are not the easiest and his homework are not the shortest but the workload is well worth it (you understand so much more from the lesson by doing the hw!).Also he is a pretty generous grader at the end. A great teacher and a great man.
