Mrs. Fishman is a great teacher, but what makes her stand out is that she is such a wonderful person. She is understanding and her "honesty" policy of turning in work is the best, although it is sad how some kids like to take advantage of her leniency. What I like the most about her teaching style is how she doesn't bias students based on their technical ability...rather she looks at your creativity and is more interested in your thought process behind your work. It is truly tragic that she is ill!
Was her student for two years; she is honestly the best person I think I've ever met. Extremely helpful, out-of-the-box, knowledgable, slightly crazy in the best way possible. She has meant the most to me out of every teacher I've had; truly an amazing person. Some students don't know how to deal with or react to her personality - but if you can develop mutal respect, she is more than willing to go above and beyond to help you. I'm deeply saddened that she won't be returning, and wish her the absolute best.
One of the nicest teachers, but that doesn't mean she will put up with anything. She respects her students but she requires that they respect her too. If you are not in agreement as to the best way to go about a project she is perfectly willing to hear you out. One of her favorite sayings is that her "directions" are only suggestions and if you can make it better by doing something else, do it!
Frankly, she's amazing. She plays favorites, but she knows more about art than any other art teacher around and she really does like all her students, even the slackers.
She really got me into art, and has a lot of flexibility with allowing me to choose my own medium and do my own projects without asking too many questions about them. A lot of work, but worth it.
She's a great teacher and really loves art. Her class is a lot of work, so slackers often complain, but it's worth it.
This class is definitely only for those who are truly interested in art. I love the fact that she gives us a lot of freedom in what we can create. You really do end up learning ALOT from the class.
The workload is sometimes unbearable, and she really does play favorites. But if you honestly have a love for art, she has alot of interesting things to teach you. She LOVES creativity!
you have to be really really dedicated to art in order to enjoy her class. she's flaky, spacey, really weird and can be mean and boring. once she gets to know you and appreciate your 'original thinking' she'll become more tolerable though.
Yes, it's very obvious she plays favorites, and it's not even based on your artistic skills. She talks too much and can be overly critical.
She's...okay. But she really plays favorites, and it's obvious if she doesn't like you/your art and always compares yours to other people's, which is awkward.
I was one of her pets so she was easy on me (almost too easy). She'd probably be better as a college art instructor/prof--she may be too intense for h.s. level
my hatred for this woman knows no bounds. she is by far the worst teacher i've ever had. and watch out, she likes to write on your art.
I love that she really loves art and she wants us to be creative and thoughtful about our work. She really is the best art teacher I've had!
she's ok...sorta. she doesn't do much basics and oftens goes rite into a project so i still can't draw at all. plus, she plays favorites a lot!
she will change everything about your art, even on open ended assignments. if you love art, do not join her class; she'll make you hate it
I took two of her courses several years ago and I am still reaping the benefits. Her teachings informed my subsequent endeavors in New York City and beyond.
cant stand the sound of her voice. still love art though
She makes art class horrible, I use to enjoy art before I had her
i feel sorry for her, but that didn't make my experience as her student easier.
Oh my god, i just love her! shes the best ever! - Mariana
Fish sez: freedom for you Fish means: everything I dont like must be changed
You low raters are as crazy as her. Yes, she's looney, but loves art.
i love the class but she just talks too freaking much and can be really critical
it's like swimming in murky waters... she doesn't help, she makes it harder!
She cares, she's just a little difficult to deal with.
if you aren't passionate about art already, she will ruin it for you.
