Do not take this class if you value your time, patience and self respect. I repeat. If you're a freshman taking this class and wanna last all 4 years, you'll really have to weather the storm, as it ends up getting better in the end. However, Cranston doesn't hesitate to get into face to face confrontations with you if you don't meet his expectations. He's chill on very rare occasions, but overall, if I could do it all over again, I would never have taken this class. Did it for the resume.
Cranston is hands-down my favorite teacher at NCHS. Band is not a difficult class. Shitheads that refuse to put any effort in make it difficult for everybody to play and enjoy the class. Do you have to practice? No. Will it make band easier? Yes. The vast majority of students do not practice their instrument, and they get along just fine - but practicing is not a large demand by any means. If you consider yourself an "honors student," you should be able to easily handle band.
The dude is nuts. This is high school band and he turns the class into the New York symphony orchastra. He expects you to practice like your life revolves around your instrument. Crazy
a big improvement from middle school band teacher (KIBBY). This class is what got me on the honor roll, so that's a plus. I'm learning more about music than any other year, so I'm happy.
Amazing!! I really improved, If you try in class he'll like you
if you love band/your instrument, he'll love you and do anything to help you
Once he got over my obnoxious face, he was very helpful. His class is my favorite, and as long as you rock your instrument, he loves you. CRAN MAN ROCKS!
i will say that his teaching rules, he DOES get angry sometimes, (as such the mime class) and i don't think he gets that if he grades us hard, we don't come back next year. great teacher otherwise
my playing improved so much because of him. and the mime class was fun too.
why did he have to start grading harder? though the mime class was fun
Let's take the A train to Hawaii, with some scottish snap
