She never answers my questions. And she can be angry about something normal easily.
When you ask her about a homework assignment she literally always goes on an external tangent and tells you to never stress out out. Never explains what to do and the assignments are extremely vague. She never gives full credit on assignments and literally gives you a B though she never gives you an example.
She projects her insecurities onto students. Don't try to stand out, like many reviewers have previously said. You'll never know what will set her off. Even if she likes you she can go off on something you said. Be careful! Don't let her ruin your idea of literature though.
I'm surprised she has such a high rating on this website. Must be the occasional outliers. Anyways, Stacey Cler. My rating should be enough to show how awful she is, so I shall instead be giving advice. Pick your words very cautiously, she can easily take it out of context. Stay quiet, listen to her every word, do not stick out. Don't ask her questions, unless you absolutely have to, and always have her check your work. And pray. Pray to god. Pray to god you survive.
So far you've heard a lot of bad stuff about her. To survive this year, be polite, listen carefully, never interrupt and basically try not to stick out. She's pretty unapproachable but don't let this get in the way of education :) Learn as much as u can and pay attention to what she's saying instead of how she's saying it.It's tough at first bc of her mood swings and whatnot but once you understand her you'll be able to do well in this class. Good luck!
She's a great person to talk to! You have to make sure to feel like you are both on the same side. The idea is to not make the teacher the enemy. She is only trying to work with you. Talk to her often and you will be fine! She is a great mentor.
Ms. Cler knows what she is talking about and is a good teacher. The only problem is that if you try to ask a question, most of the time she gets offended by it, and sometimes goes on a rant to certain students who she doesn't particularly like. Obviously this makes her assignments unclear at times. Just don't get on her bad side and keep your mouth shut.
Most unreasonable teacher I've ever met. Accuses people of plagiarism because they use common knowledge that she doesn't know. It is impossible to argue with her because she thinks she's always right and has no sense of logic whatsoever.
Ms. Cler is really nice a lot of the time. She talks to the class and we have actual conversations. However, sometimes she pulls people aside and lectures them, and sometimes they cry. When she lectures you, it makes you feel really bad. But for the most part, her class is pretty fun. She jokes around and stuff. And she grades pretty easily. It's kind of like a relaxing class. Heavy work load though. Lot's of writing, as you can imagine.
Pulled me aside after a presentation and accused me of cheating because I used the word 'parabolic'. Her reasoning was that she thought it was too advanced of a vocabulary word for a student like me (lol). That was 5 years ago, and her comment still insults me to this day. I am now a computer engineering student on my way to finishing college. Have fun living in mediocrity Stacey, I hope you remember who I am.
Does teach, picks favorites very hard though. If you're lucky, she'll grade your essay in the middle of the night. If you're unlucky, she'll yell at you in class for being quiet or staring too long.
moody, scary, impatient, biased, unreasonable. But she is clear and helpful sometimes
she was very helpful and offered additional work to improve your grades and would proofread your essays as many times as you wanted without getting irritated or impatient, in fact one time she proofread my essay at 4am. She's a fun teacher who genuinely cares about her students she is however extremely biased. I happened to be on the positive side of this... some of my friends weren't as lucky, leaving me constantly wondering if i actually deserved the grade i got.
she is the best
She may the scariest teacher in mv, but as long you're not on her bad side then you're all set! she makes us write a lot of essays, but as long you ask her for help, youll get an A.
Ms. Cler has been my best Lit teacher ever; essays are easy now. The trick to getting good grades are having her check your essay. For her to like you, simply make many jokes in class and approach her WHENEVER you have a question. Worked fine for me!
She is easy if you pay attention in class are on her good side. She is extremely helpful if you go to her during brunch or lunch and ask for help.
Basically get on her good side and don't act like an idiot. If she favorites you, then you're set for life (it's really easy to tell who she's biased towards.) Also, don't ask too many questions and participate a lot.
There seems to be a split in the comments on the nature of Ms.Cler. She is heavily biased, explaining this. However, she is in a good mood a lot more often than previous years, she has far fewer people she "hates" now, and it is very easy to get on her good side. On her good side, she is funny, helpful, and gives you food. However, if on her bad side, she will make you miserable, give bad grades intentionally, send you to the office, and make you cry (we had 3 kids cry this year).
Ms. Cler is possibly the best teacher I have had in my entire education. She is the sweetest teacher ever and has a great sense of humor. She is extremely knowledgable and very helpful. As long as you don't talk back to her (you shouldn't really talk back to any teacher), you'll easily be on her good side. Enjoy her class!
ms. cler is the most amazing teacher i've ever had. again and again, she's made me fall in love with syntax and tone and diction and i've never been this passionate about writing before. she's funny and optimistic and she always gives the best advice no matter what. anyone would be lucky to have her if they just took the two seconds a day to appreciate her. sure, she can be really intimidating, but she's the one person in the entire world who raises me to the best me possible.
Ms. Cler doesn't know how to teach. Teachers are supposed to provide guidance to students. Well, the only thing she's capable of doing is yelling at students and making them hate her forever. Anyone who cried after her yelling would not be motivated by her heart-breaking speech. Also, her attitude is cynical and prejudiced in some areas. It's okay to have certain attitudes cause everyone does have their views. However, saying her opinions out oud in class is not appropriate.
she is just plain horrible. she is so mean that many of the students are afraid to approach her. she is the only teacher who makes fun of students' essays. also, she gets angry for the simplest of things. also, she doesnt know how to teach. lastly, she grades essays unfairly hard.
Ms. Cler is actually a very good teacher. Its moderately easy to get an A, and she is very funny at times. Obviously, like any other teacher, if you talk back to her she gets angry, but that is what i
This woman made me cry every day in class. She would tower over me and tell my grades to the entire class and discredit my work that I had turned in aloud. If you get her, switch!
She is strict and kind of scary, but she is still nice and helpful sometime, she is willing to help you.
she is not that hard. but shez still pretty hard and really strict when grading essays. her tests r very hard. she doesnt teach all that much but is somewhat helpful when approaching her.
Ms. Cler is a very "unique" person. She constantly has mood swings and is very picky. Although she seems nice and seems to have a big heart, but sometimes, she makes a big deal out of nothing. Sometim
Much better than I've heard! Surprisingly generous at times, and tells interesting stories. I'm staying optimistic.
Ms. Cler is the Dr. House of Monta Vista. Shes mean and snappy cause shes in a lot of pain, plus shes hard with grades, but shes also funny, smart, caring when she needs to be, and a good teacher.
Cler fails to acknowledge the weaknesses in her attitude and method of teaching. It would appear that, rather than help her students succeed, she exaggerates the flaws of her students and fails them.
Ms Cler teaches through the method of "fail-motivation", where students learn through repeated failure. Although she allows personal problems to affect her character, she is not such a bad teacher.
She's not THAT hard. If you work for it instead of sitting on here complaining, you'll get an A. Never give her attitude. EVER. She was a good teacher, too bad she isn't teaching Lit H next year :(
She honestly isn't that bad as others say. I've been with her for a year in Lit Honors and she's approachable though intimidating at first. She is a great person and generally understanding.
Guys, she's not as hard or mean as she seems. Don't be polemical with her - be amicable. She is relatively easy compared to Javier - hard enough to prepare you more than you need. Within time, you'll
Legitly my first D in my history. I have a feeling that if you dont make ur first impression, the best. Ur skrewed in her class for the rest of the school year. And if ur Indian, I say "Good Luck"
I had to work my [email protected]# off to get an A in this class, but it was worth it and I think I was prepared for Lit Honors this year.
shes grown on me, i used to despise her, but she is actually pretty nice, no doubt an A is nearly impossible to get first semester, but she more than prepares you if you wish to take honors lit
Terrible teacher that has crazy mood swings. Gives you bad grads w/o feedback and if you try to talk to her she just puts words in your mouth. Not helpful. Give insightful opinions during discussions
Definitely not one of the most popular teachers at MV, but she is really good at lit and offers really good criticism to help your writing if your open to it. Just give it time and don't be rude!
provides meaningful advice/criticism but usually does so in a crushing/brutal manner. seen quite a few people devastated and about to cry in her class. grades are usually abysmal but at times generous
i will tell you she is very hard and she never writes what you did and it is very hard to approach her about it... despite that she is funny and taking her class will either= better writer or fail
she scares me to death but she is HEEEEEEEEEEEELARIOUSSSSSS!!!!:)
No. You do NOT want to get Ms. Cler. She might seem nice at first, but she has so many mood swings and plays extreme favorites. If you're not one of her favorites, you're screwed.
She secretly thinks every student is stupid. Very scary sometimes. Hard, but i'm sure she's a great person. Her and Javier are friends. Stay on her good side. Watch your mouth.
WORLD LIT: I'm one of her faves. Can't tell ya how I am..but there is a clear strategy. She has moodswings, so Watch. Your. Words. She's a hard grader, but easier than Javier. U gotta ? her for help.
She's very nice and a good teacher! she helped me see stuff about things I was reading that I didn't even think about! SO helpful!
It's so unfair! She only grades nicely for her favorites!:(
Her stories take up half of the period, but she still manages to teach the class. Fun, easy teacher. Always has snacks/parties :) Helps with essays tremendously (has good ways of helping you prepare).
She's a funny teacher, mostly when your all sleepy in 1st period she tells intresting stories, she can grade hard sometimes, but overall shes okay
Her mood is your grade. Do not get on her bad side or she'll harass you for the entire year. Her assignments were pointless and irrelevant. Plays favorites. Bad teacher.
She brings way too much of her personal life into the class. She's quite disorganized and changes the requirements of assignments often. If you're not one of her faves, stay low and don't anger her.
Nice if stay on her good side. Can be in tweaky mood. Talks a lot abt self. Reasonable class. Rather stay quiet in class & lose a few pts rather than say smth bad unintentionally & get on her bad side
have her class for one year than u ll master eassay writing she's nice she does have her favorites and stuff but she's a fun teacher ones u have her!!! best class
grades medium-hard on essays. but learn a lot. essay writing improved! nice and caring. gives you comfort and tries to give you support when say essays. talks a lot. very funny. BEST!
shes really nice she communicate with each and every students. she would never let u fail her class!
Cler LOVES to tell stories. She's weird, and talks about her friend in Hawaii alot. But she's nice and my writing improved so much because of her. She is wonderful teacher. I hope you get to have her as your teacher.
I had Cler for my ESL class. Her love and care for us students was what pushed me to get out of ESL and get into a regulard class. And I graduate this year with my B.A. in English Literature! Thanks Ms. Cler!!!!!
TRANSFER OUT!talks about herself & doesn't teach. when she attempts to, it's useless. please learn to teach ms cler, or just stick to ELD& leave english students to a more capable teacher. maybe try elementary/ middle school.
Your writing will improve. Mine did. She's very funny and understanding. However, she digresses a lot, so most of the time, we don't really do anything. However, after having her, your essays will be very fluent and flowing.
Cler is one of the few teachers who actually cares about her students. She also has a unique sense of humor and is sensetive to the students' problems, unlike so many other teachers at MV.
she is nice if you get on her good side. You just have to make a good impression amd laugh at her jokes. vocab is all the studing you have to do
She's very cool, good teacher too. Goofing off in her class isn't hard since she's just like us, and does it too
Knows the subject, but is intolerant of any opinion other than her own. Plays favorites to the extreme. Lousy classroom attitude and by-the-whim grading system.
i think that miss cler is a nice person but is also insecure because she tries to be funny in ways that are mean or insulting.
plays favorites... but she liked me! aside from favorites though, shes an awesome person, good teacher... you learn a little about life instead of just books
was easy year but waaaay too many group projects; she totally plays favorites
She seemed to favor the more popular students. She changed her mind a lot and switched due dates around.
has too many annoying habits, but a pretty easy year
nice if she likes you, but is a REALLY hard grader on essays
