Mr. Lacks is far too narrow to be effective for students such as our son (who made an 800 on the SAT Math Level 2 test and got a terrible grade in Mr. Lacks' class). Mr. Lacks was a major reason he decided to drop out of the IB program. We met with many of his teachers, and Mr. Lacks was the only one who seemed unsympathetic and inflexible. He has a militaristic "my way or the highway" approach to education. He should only be allowed to electives for the like-minded, such as "ROTC Math".
Mr. Lacks actually understands his students fairly well. His class may be hard, but he explains well.
Maybe not the best teacher for sophomores, but in HL he's a good teacher
I am traumatized by his class. I lost any sense of math I ever had.
Although he may get a bad rap for simply being a math teacher, he really helps every student understand the material if they take the initiative to askquestions
