Had him for honors modern world last year. Very bad with grading but he is extremely smart, passionate, and caring. He truly wants to see students succeed and go far. I was in student forum with him as well and he's so so passionate about the school and students. Overall, a great educator.
I used to like him until I realized he literally knows only 2 students names. Its been 3 months since school started and its pretty offensive when people raise their hands and all he does is point and say "you". Not only is it rude, but it makes it seem like he doesn't care — which makes ME not care about him or his class. Bye.
Great teacher who is interested in what he teaches. He does have a well-known tendency to go off-topic, but these are usually excursions into topic which are generally important. Also,he sometimes gets too political, but at least he makes resonable, logical statements and respects other people's views. Pretty chill.
His only problem is going off-topic at lectures, which I don't mind because they are educational (mostly) and things that are interesting and relatable (just kidding). Hes really nice and gives nice grades. Very nice and enjoyable.
He is a really great teacher and now that I am not in his class anymore I wish I had taken the opportunity to participate more in his class. While he does go off-topic frequently I find whatever he says to be very interesting and helpful. A super knowledgeable teacher but more importantly a stellar human being who really cares for his students.
so I took a regulars class with him, he had grade inflation policies. high percentage of grade based on hw and classwrk. has a nice curve on MC. your grade can go up an entire letter. However, his mc tests are HARD. you need to know details. his essay grading is reasonably easy. I never got lower than a 92%. as long as u write well and u include details you will be fine. his lectures are interesting, and for those who complain abt after school meetings, hes taking his own time to help u
Mr. Sewell might just be my favorite teacher of all time. A lot of people don't like how much he rambles but I find him to be immensely intelligent and the information he gives out during his lectures have both helped me on his exams and essays but also in life in general. If you pay attention and put effort into his class, I guarantee you getting an A and also learning a lot of useful information. His class really opens people's minds, again if you pay attention. He is passionate about history.
He's really good at lecturing I'll tell you that. You pretty much just sit in class and listen to him talk the whole time in ap us history and I'm sure other history classes as well. Very informative, but can be boring to quite an extent. However if you drop his class, he gets pretty pissed, because I couldn't handle apush :P
you really gotta work hard in his class. pretty much if you put in the right amount of effort, you would get the great you want. alot of people dont put in much effort in this class, thats why they complain its so hard. i had ms. donnelly second sememster but i wish i stilled had mr. swell. i was way more prepared on first sememster stuff than second on the ap test.
Mr.Sewell is a great history teacher. If you really pay attention to his lectures; first, the information is interesting; second, its good information to know and it helps you rememer the events better; third, he really focuses on the concept and event of each chapter. From my opinion, if you just listen to his lectures and attend all the review sessions.YOU WILL GET AN A GURANTEED. i always used info from his lectures on essays, and thats how i got As on them.
Although people complain about his rambling, I found what he had to say to be very interesting and helpful during the AP exam. If you listen and read the book, you will get a 5.
hes nice, and LOVES history alot, but doesnt really teach, so you just kinda sit there and zone out most of the time while he babbles on...
he's a really nice guy. class has a REALLY nice curve but thats cause the tests are freeeaaking hard. i got a 33/40 on my scantron test and it turned out to be a 96%. hes pretty boring.. but he doesnt blow up when he sees people sleeping during class. just nudges them and such.
he's a great teacher. you can really tell that he's passionate about what he teaches, and knows both sides to every story (as previously stated).
Amazing teacher. Anyone who says he teaches a bias curriculum only listens to half of what he has to say. He ALWAYS gives both sides of any topic taught in the course. I got him for freshman history, and took AP US only because he was the teacher.
loved the guy. yeah the class is boring but when he goes off on tangents..hes so funny. hes very articulate compared to other teachers. he has a whole library of history in his head. very knowledgeable guy..but if you're conservative like me you wont agree with half of the stuff he has to say
If you are willing to listen and give effort you will learn alot and do well on the AP Test.
I luved his class. he was a great teacher and i learned alot. his class isnt dirty and he isnt boring.
AP class was great he made sure we were prepared, even when it meant weekend AP class meetings. He's boring and expects a lot, but if you listen, he teaches.
can be boring and always gets off the subject of history
