If you have Sugden or soon will, hello!
I had Sugden for the Geo/Alg2 Accel course! Overall I think my experience was a mess, but that was mainly from my personal struggles. His class was very textbook and lecture based, which can be a pro or con depending on who you are. He didn't do the best job at teaching but I think it's because that was the first year of Geo/Alg2 Accel. Sugden cares and does actively tries to help you improve! Overall he is a "neutral good" or "true neutral."
Not the best at teaching, but he puts in the effort to make sure you know everything you need to know. He has multiple resources on SchoolLoop which were really helpful. He's very approachable if you have a question about math or anything about the school in general. His tests are pretty hard and it sometimes may seem like he's setting you up for failure, but he definitely aims to help all his students succeed
Really chill teacher and just an all around nice guy. He teaches straight from the book but makes the concepts pretty clear, although the test always seems to be harder than what he taught. As long as you study enough, getting an A is pretty easy.
I had him for the new double accelerated course and he was definitely very hard but he was very helpful and an overall good teacher. It may be hard to get an A in his class but definitely be thankful of everything you learned because it will be a lot. It is very important to practice extra at home and understand all the concepts REALLY well. His class is more the application of concepts on real life situations then it is the actual math concepts themselves.
I had him for the new double accelerated course (Geometry/Alg2/Trig).He actually taught pretty well, some topics could be taught better but at least he tried, which is more than other teachers.Read the book before class, pay attention to the lectures, do your homework, and do extra practice from the book(unless you are one of the kids who already learned the everything in the summer because of tutors in which case you may not need to).Tests were medium difficulty.Ask him questions,he is helpful!
He's a pretty good teacher. just do your hw, especially the c-set, and you should be fine on his tests
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH
For Geometry, he is probably great. For Alg 2. not at all. he does not teach well. Our tests are cunulative and he never taught us the first chapters so 1/4 of your test is gone right there. He doesn't really teach, he just tell kids to go to the book. He even admits to not teaching some sections correctly but stilll takes out points. Also, he will not give partial credit at all. Most of all, it was sad when one of the freshmen knew more about math than he did.
I have him for Alg 2, and to be honest, he's not the best at teaching. He's very willing to answer questions, but you have to be proactive and ask. You have GOT to be very self- motivated and do & correct all your homework. A lot of my classmates get bad grades on his tests because they slack on homework and don't learn the concepts well.
Mr. Sugden is one of my favorite teachers. His class isn't too hard. Seriously guys, as long as you do the hw and listen during his daily lectures (he actually teaches - a rarity, so make sure to listen!) you'll do fine. I had a solid A in his class last year and I don't understand why everyone says he's so hard. His tests don't go far from the textbook and hw points (weekly hw checks) help you out. It's not a total easy A though, you still have to put in effort. But it's not impossible.
he's a cool teacher and among the only few teachers that do teach in msj :)
Teaches out of the book, but somehow makes everything a lot simpler. Nice guy, fun to talk to. Asking him about certain questions afterwards is helpful as well.
One of my favorite teachers. Teaches well, and is very social with the students. Many think that 2nd semester is harder but all that is needed is just practice with the B and C set problems.
WORST TEACHER you will ever get. Never teaches (year 2010-2011) and is absent at least 2 days per week. when he's actually here, he just gives classwork, never checks it, and never teaches.
easiest teacher ever. ull ace the test without any studying if u do ur hw . don't copy it off ppl. if u do ur hw ull ace all the tests and not have to wry abt the finals
just read the textbook and do c-set problems. finish the hw while he's lecturing. as long as u practice the c-set probs it's easy
Mr. Sugden is a very effective and funny teacher. He tries to use jokes to teach the material effectively. He is easy in the beginning, but gets harder through the year.
She is a great teacher. I really learned a lot from her. Her lectures are really clear and her tests arent super hard. I loved having her for a teacher. best math teacher i've had so far.
Nice teacher. Ok class. Good at lecturing. Starts ok then gets harder through the year
Mrs Sugden teaches concepts very clearly, and offers ample help. You can tell that Mrs Sugden really cares about her students and their understanding of math. Her tests are reasonable.
Cares about her students and helpful to everyone. Nice attitude in class and always willing to offer help or sympathy
His class is okay. Most of his tests and quizzes are hard but they get easier second semester. Pretty good teacher though.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. So helpful and friendly to everyone. She actually cares for all of her students and teaches them in a great way.
I love her she was my favorite teacher last year...and my favorite math teacher ever
OMG! She is like the best TEACHER EVER! She is very concerned about her students and tries her best to each and satisfy her students.
moody, mostly nice to girls. study 2nd semester. study to save your life. took the new final where the average was 50%
sugden cant answer half the questions in the book in a way that would actually help us and he turns demonlike second semester. and his lectures are taken straight from the book.
My favorite teacher at Mission. She made everything clear, and she's very concerned for her students' personal wellbeing.
hes pretty easy... but doesn't help much... and grades arent based on effort... i haven't studied for a long time and i have a really high grade..
Mrs. Sugden is very helpful and loves to have lots of fun with her students
The ONLY thing I didn't like about her/her class was going from one semester w/out hw to having the next with, otherwise, She's the best Math teacher I've had.
Best Math teacher I've ever had...everything is explained clearly so easy to learn. excellent style of teaching.
I had sugden for two years at whs...i hated both years. Moody, not a very good lecturer, pretty unreasonable. Easy tests though =)
Explains badly. I never study and have the highest grade in the class... grades really aren't based on effort. Makes lame jokes and expects laughs.
he's a nice person.. his class is acutally good but like his tests are so unresonable someitmes with dose A,S,N questions n he doesn't even give partial on tests
lectures are easy, and a dependable amount of homework. she is one of my favorite teachers.
Mr. Sugden is a great teacher. He is very helpfull and easy to understand
I got an A in his class 1st semester, then got a C- the 2nd semester because of one homework packet.-_- Mr.Sugden was a cool teacher though and taught well.
I had her for 2 yrs...totally prepares you for pre-calc-apprachable and really friendly-goes out of her way to help students, passionate!!! luv her!
Mr. Sugden gave me an A last semester. Any teacher who gives me an A is good. Therefore through transitive property, Mr. Sugden is good. :D
Fun teacher, good lectures, can talk in class after lecture. HW is decent, tests aren't hard. Fun class- fun teacher.
A very good math teacher. Lecture's succint, although there're sometimes badly worded questions on the test.
Makes geometry almost enjoyable.
Sugden's cool in his own way. Though sometimes he doesn't quite understand his own math problems but at least he tries.
