The worst possible bio teacher one can get. She does NOT teach and has high expectations for tests. Her powerpoints weren't even made by her and she cannot explain the powerpoints. seriously?
Moore does not teach, and when she does, she cannot teach. Learning materials does not match up with the tests and quizes she give. She is extremely unfair and does not grade properly. She sets her expectations very high, but does not give instructions on what to include when writing explanations, CER, and lab reports. Taking de anza classes would be a smarter choice.
She's only here because of tenure. I still dunno if I hate biology/chem or just her
Moore now teaches AP Chemistry. I had Mrs. Moore for freshman year bio and she ruined biology for me. I entered AP Chemistry and decided not to transfer to the other AP Chemistry teacher (Mrs. Gupta) since I thought Moore would be better for chem as she is a chem major, boyyyy was I wrong. Moore cannot teach this course properly and she is unfair. Recently, there was an test issue as she plagiarized a test from online and made us all retake it the next week as the "questions were circulation."
She doesn't even teach and gives very hard tests. Contrary to popular opinion, she is probably harder than Lerner. Clearly wants to be teaching Chemistry and doesn't care about her Biology students. None of the stuff on her tests is from the powerpoints or anything she says in class, and for the Physiology unit she just told us to go self-study. But if you are good at cramming, you can scrape an A.
Although she is a good person, is not an effective teacher for Chem H. If you talk with her, you'll find that she's a kind woman, but her teaching has many flaws. Firstly, her idea of a lesson is showing a foggy powerpoint and then giving us worksheets. Secondly, her tests cover nothing from her lessons. There is no way to prepare, and everyone performs poorly. Lastly, her grading is pretty subjective. So get on her good side, kiss-up, and hopefully she'll spare you a point or two when you fail.
Very knowledgeable in her field!
Ms. Moore has a low quality of clarity and and knowledge. The students can clearly observe that she chooses favorites and believe that a C is perfectly fine grade. In a community where an A grade is the standard bar set, this is awfully frustrating to all of those who have her as a teacher. Her attitude shows depreciation and her teaching skill is not helpful at all. If you have Ms. Moore be ready to learn on your own.
doesnt even use the textbook and her bs "interactive" notebook that everyone rushes to finish the day before she checks it is absolutely useless. she doesnt really teach and takes other teachers materials like powerpoints or tests. ive noticed shes has an affinity towards asian girls and the "cool" indian kids. i understand more material from talking with my table mate for 10 minutes than i do in the entire 50 minutes of class. if i could rate 0/10 i would.
I had Moore for freshman bio and she's easily the worst teacher I've ever had. She clearly wanted to be teaching chem and she tested on material we hadn't covered. She often contradicted herself, and many of her students had to go to the other bio teachers for help. She's only knowledgable about some units, and she spent a way too much time on those units. She basically gave us info to memorize but tested us on our "understanding" of the topic. Your best bet is to switch out or get a tutor.
The biggest problem is she doesn't teach. We had a lot of tests without study materials. Sometime she even tested things we hadn't covered. We have been given study sheets without answers, checklists with untaught concepts - they are not even in textbooks! She doesn't give home works either so you have no idea what are covered, what are not. If you have her next year, run! (ps. I think because of her, all the bio private tutors are making $$$$ in our area! :-) )
shes really not that hard. i took like 2 pages of notes for the whole year and still got A's both semesters.
A lot of people complain her, but as long as you have a private tutor, you should be fine. I got an A in her class.
At the beginning, Ms. Moore graded labs/CERs strangely and had confusing tests. But by the second semester, perhaps it was due to all the complaints, she taught amazingly well(everything was clear and concise in her powerpoint lectures) and was able to answer all the questions I had.The tests also became easier and understandable. She's one of those teachers that you know you can rely on for both academic and non-academic help. Just listen and participate! I got an A on both semesters.
This woman is only here because principl april scott is just as corrupt and useless as her. Monta vista is filled with corrupt jealous teachers who fell below their peers who are now all successful silicon valley blue collar workers. Mrs. Moore is a waste of a visa/greencard/citizenship from India. I feel taxi drivers, cooks, 7/11 cashiers would be m ore appropriate. I would sue her if I had the money to
She used to be a weird teacher but now, especially in second semester she has gotten really good. She is actually a good teacher now, but you have to understand she may get a little frustrating when grading quizzes or alignments. She only looks for a few set of words and if you don't have them there goes the questions, even if you know what you are talking about. Thankfully she tells us these words during class and emphasizes them quite well, So take NOTES :D
She is the most boring teacher there is. Her tests are way harder than the stuff she "teaches". Oh and she gives you the worst grades if your not indian
I was excited to come to monta vista yet i peaked when i heard she was the bio instructor.I am not joking since she is amazing
mrs moore is so good
She deserves more than this, why is she reviewed bad?
i was so happy when my schedule said "mrs moore':)
My daughter elaine had Mrs moore. She described her as "the most informative teacher in the books". YEs, she is.
My daughter elaine had Mrs moore. She described her as "the most informative teacher in the books". YEs, she is.
i would recommend her to everybody:))
a real helper fr all
In true honesty, Mrs. Supriya J. Moore is the greatest teacher in Monta Vista. Her excllence is superb
I had Ms. Moore for Freshman Biology. She gives lots of homework, and then re-reviews with powerpoints. She is inconsistent with her work expectations. She often contradicts herself and says the textbook is wrong, probably because she doesn't really know the information well. She provides study guides for her tests, but her tests often do not reflect her guides, so be prepared for anything. She definitely favors certain students and ethnic groups. Overall, Ms. Moore was the worst teacher ever.
I think Ms. Moore was okay at teaching(I had her freshman year for bio). She was clear on assignments but could be very boring and unclear during lectures(she told us her passion is chem not bio). However, bio itself was an interesting topic for me and the class environment was also very engaging so I liked her class a lot. Bio was paradise compared to chem. I did hear from other students that she was inconsistent in dealing with students but to me she was always very nice.
I'm a freshman, and Mrs. Moore is my bio teacher. Honestly, I think she's a terrible teacher. She gives us way too much homework everyday (over an hour), and all the worksheets she gives us has material we haven't learned. She expects us to learn it ourselves, do the homework, and not get any questions wrong. She then teaches the stuff that we learned by ourselves the next day, which totally ruins the point of actually teaching. I hope I won't fail her class this year.
I had an awesome year with her in bio and I actually learned a lot but I would watch out if you get her for chem H I would suggest asking questions after class-she's pretty approachable and it really helps
She knows information, but does not know how to teach or express it to her students well. Many students before said she was horrible and some if not all are true. But she's not bad as a person. Most if not all of the time students have to study with the textbook and I don't think its only for her class but all other chemistry honors classes as well.
She's okay. Her substitute was so much cooler and surprisingly more knowledgeable. I'm not sure if this is true but she got sued because she would give the latter classes harder tests than the earlier periods. Also hey clarity sucks, I can never understand what she is saying (not cause of her accent, but because she never explains everything).
won't learn anything from her, gives random oral quizes.Better off learning yourself. The worst science teacher I have ever got.
Won't learn anything T T and wont get anything from it by paying attention in class, my advice is to study it urself.
She has the most boring lectures ever and almost always does a terrible job explaining, even if you pay attention. Sometimes, she doesn't even tell you what to study for quizzes/tests or excludes part
My daughter comes hone frustrated almost daily from her class. We were not impressed during the open house at the school, and she is proving to be a bad experience for our child. She in unclear, over
I would say like 2/3 of the class had no idea what she was talking about most of the time. When you asked for help, all she would do was express frustration. Horrible, horrible teacher. I wonder ho
She's really nice and knowlageable. I think the only bad part of her class is her not telling us what to do when she gives us a lecture or when she gives us a worksheet. But besides that I think she
She is the most terrible, uninformed teacher I have ever had. I feel sorry for myself and pity her as a teacher... I hope to god no one else has to bear her as a teacher!
She shows you her passion for chemistry and she is really nice, but she is TERRIBLE at teaching. You will never be prepared for the tests unless you have some form of outside help. Also, you can never
Wow. Words cannot even begin to describe the amazing teaching skills of Supriya. She is everything you could hope for in a teacher and a friend- caring, hardworking, intelligent, and very friendly.
Had arguments in class regarding some questions. She insisted on A while textbook indicated B. The grading? everyone answered A got minus. Some B got credit. People didn’t answer got full credit
Irresponsible-caused fire in lab Incompetent-steps in class: write on board, erase them, and then copy from textbook Inconsistent-Give different credits to different person with the same answer
I didnt get a tutor, and I still got a 800 on my sat chem. And. I actually believe that ms moore helped a lot.
Super boring. Not very helpful. It's not hard to get a middle to high B though.
amswers questions by repeating the same thing that you didn't undeerstand originally
I only think class is easy because our period has some kid who keeps asking questions and it makes her lectures really easy to understand. Hope for someone like him in your class!
She failed a large majority of my class. Often sped through lectures, not stopping to ask if anyone had questions.
I had her last year (2009-10). She was actually very helpful if you pay attention in class and read the textbook. Got As for both semesters and 800 on SAT chem.
I don't think she's that hard. To get an A, you have to read the book before she lectures, do extra practice problems, and treat the practice quiz/tests like real ones. She isn't the best teacher, but
terrible, favortism, tells us that we dont need to knwo stuff but its on the test anyway
She expects you to read the book before she says teaches her lesson, but no one actually reads the book, so its kinda their fault for not keeping along. If you don't get it, go ask her. She is not an
gives much harder tests to some periods...very unfair
If you don't look at the bias of previous years, and look at it objectively, she's ok. Not the best, but definitely not as bad as people claim. She's not that hard, either. So far, at least.
probably one of the worst teachers i have ever had. she cannot explain chem at all. try switching out.
The textbook is your friend! She's not clear when teaching in class, so make sure to go clarify things after lectures. If you show her you want to learn, she WILL help you! But slackoff
Worst teacher i have ever had insanely unreasonable should not be a teacher
she's not that hard. though she doesn't teach that much, as long as you study from the book then you should be fine. remember to ASK question, she might tell you things that she doesn't teach in class
Doesn't teach, doesn't know subject, wastes time in class, violates CA law by leaving the class early and telling the students not to tell anyone, doesnot give instructions, so even labs are failures
She won't teach you much in class, so READ THE TEXTBOOK and do the hw if you want to do well. If you ask her qs on unclear concepts individually, she usually will be pretty helpful.
she is like the worst ever! she doesn't know how to teach and her tests and quizes are hecka hard. And she choses favs. she's only nice to the ppl who r like smart and have a good grade in her class.
tis is a hard class but ill tell u how to do good. get 100% on ur hw(35%). doall xc. dont listen in class but study b4 quizzes. i had a C-, D+ avg on tests but i got a high B. just spend time wiesely.
i didnt rlly understand mrs. moore. her lectures are truly that boring. she's a nice person and all, but i mean when it comes to teaching the material, she's not that great.
i personally didn't have any trouble with ms. moore. i thought she was a good teacher and i got everything i needed to do well in the class. however, if you don't get something, it's essential to ask.
She spend 30 min explaining how 2do simple arithmetic prob n barely cover the difficult concepts. also she makes you walk home and bak just to give her ur labnote or book. nice manner but INFLEXIBLE
WARNING: Do not get Moore. Instead of thinking about how she can effectively teach her students, she spends her time watching movies and talking about them, as you will find out from her classes.
She is by far the worst teacher I've had. She can't teach, she's really unclear about everything, when you answer questions she give a Duh you should know that answer. Transfer out if possible.
Ms. Moore is really nice but a really bad teacher. Super unclear - you need to have very good teaching skills for chem, as it's a hard subject. Hard, but not THAT hard.
She's a terrible teacher. If you get her you should transfer out unless you want a long and stressful year.
she's nice, but not the best teacher.i remember tellin her snails dissolve wen salt is poured on them after readin it in the txtbook and she said to me "really?!" she knows the stuff just can't teach
She isn't THAT bad of a teacher everyone says she is. Sometimes she makes simple math errors, but everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes she can be a tad confusing; she can clarify things that are hard to understand in the textbook. Also her tests/quizzes are not bad,it's do able. Easy B, sorta hard A.
she helpped me understand a chem h. problem and I was so happy! (asked her during tutorial) though I dont have her as a class so I dont know how she is.
You would have to read the textbook in order to understand what the chapter is about. She answers your questions nicely and she's really funny. Tests and quizzes are hard but chemistry honors tests and quizzes are always hard in each class.
She's alright, compared to the other chem teachers. You really have to do a lot of outside research and read the book to understand what she's saying
She's pretty easy, but you have to study everything by yourself. She confuses you in class, so by the end of the day, she makes you "unlearn" everything you "learned".
Really nice teacher. She knows the material and can explain it well. Open to questions. Tests are pretty easy if you do the homework. She's a good and reasonable teacher and the reason why most people complain is because they aren't doing anything to learn the material. Don't blame the teacher
She is a nice person, and yes, she DOES favor a little bit, but every teacher does to a point. However, I think she's more of a "soccer mom" type than a teacher. She doesn't teach too well and you have to basically self teach everything. But, she is willing to help with any questions. TESTS ARE HARD
nice lady but a really bad teacher. dumps all info in two days and expects us to understand everything. but shes willing to answer qs at lunch or after school.
Good: Nice & willing to answer questions. Bad: She's bad at explaining everything. You end up self-studying usually.Good thing I took a short class over the summer. &ask her explicitly about homework/labs etc Not every class gets the same directions
Nice person. Terrible teacher. Test problems are AP level, material taught isn't even honors level... Can't perform simple arithmetic, vague instructions, and extreme favorites. She's nice, but honestly needs to improve.
I don't learn any of the material from her. I have to ask my friends for help and they explain clearer than her. She does not even answer my questions directly. Transfer out as soon as possible.
Mrs. Moore is the worst teacher I've ever met. She doesn't know how to teach; she mostly tells us to print out powerpoints and expects us to learn from them. She needs to play in the freeway more.
For regular chem, she didnt really teach, even if u asked her a question she wouldnt really answer it. If you learn wen u read then thats good b/c the test questions come rite out of the book.
transfer out. really. shes so bad and she CANNOT teach. you will just end up not studying cause youll realize there is no merit in studying. no format to follow nothing. wow. really. just transfer out
she is the worst teacher i have ever had and i am not exaggerating. YOU have to teach yourself and if you try to ask her, she will confuse you. TRANSFER OUT. that's my only advice. unless you have an expesive tutor, expect a C
really nice but it is hard to understand her teaching.
Mrs. Moore is actually a really nice teacher. The only problem is, don't count much on learning things during class..she will actually take the time to explain much better if you ask her privatley! Also read the book!
Miss Moore is really funny but has unclear lesson plans. HINT: Read the textbook. The textbook will save you. Read and ask questions. She loves students who ask her questions. If she can't help you, ask Gupta or McCracken.
she is so under-qualified as a teacher! i have no idea why she's even teaching since her students have a C average. Maybe she barely survived probation and now is BSing because she thinks she can't be fired... GET OUT!!
she is a very bad teacher. her instructions are unclear, she uses a student's slideshow to teach, and she shows a video to us instead of lecturing herself. she also avoids teaching the hard concepts. you call that a teacher?
