LHS '94 graduate. I had Mr. Goepel for AP US History and AP European History. He was a fantastic instructor, tough but fair. Lord help you if you showed up to class unprepared! But his class strongly emphasized writing quality, and the training I received set me apart from my classmates at Cal. Goep's the man.

I took a European History class from Thomas Goepel in the late 1970's, and to this day, he is the most interesting social studies teacher I ever had. He had a sense of humor second to none and made every class an interesting adventure.

The reason behind my 5 on my APUSH test. Incredible guy, Incredible teacher. He taught us all how to write, and I've never laughed harder in a classroom before. He's hard, but it will all be worth it.

Mr. Goepel's APUSH may easily have been one of the hardest classes I've taken at Loyola, and harder than most of the classes I'm taking in college right now. However, he definitely makes up for it in class with his humorous personality and jokes. His classes are easily the best and were the ones I looked forward to the most. He's a great guy inside and outside the classroom and will definitely help you if you have any problems. Also, he LOVES Republicans, so make sure to tell him if you are.

Mr. Goepel is the best teacher at Loyola. It is difficult to adjust to his method of writing at first but it is worth it. I never truly mastered it but he helped my writing in ways that English teachers couldn't. Best teacher.

Tom Goepel is my favorite teacher ever. I had him for two years - AP American History and AP Art History. I got 5's on both AP exams due in no small part to the thoroughness and rigor of his class. Only complaint is that his classes go into so much detail that they didn't reach the 80s in APUSH or Modern Art in AP Art Hist. He likes to give slackers a hard time (jokingly), but if you work visibly hard his praise feels awesome. Anyone interested at all in Art should take his Art History course.

He's very good and preps you well for the AP, but his constant left-wing rants are annoying. His tests aren't that hard, although essays can be a bit tricky.

Favorite teacher I had at Loyola. He made me care about history and politics, neither of which I previously had interest in. He got me a 5 on the AP. He is hilarious. His essays a lot. Trust me

Tom Goepel was the first person I have ever heard use the word "weltanschauung." The man doesn't teach you AP US History, he teaches you that the Renaissance Man

Excellent AP teacher. Gets his students 5's. Knows what it takes to prepare for thinking and analyzing critically in college. Even if you disagree with his politics, speak out. BOOLA BOOLA

As far as academics, Goepel is the single most influential teacher in my pre-college career--at least, that I consciously acknowledge (something of a truism, I know).
