I think Ms.Champ is a very good teacher. She is very helpful if you go to her with questions, but most everything you will need to know about a topic is covered in class. I just wished she would give us a heads up on what will be on our tests, at least for section B. It can be super frustrating to look at the test and realize that 1/2 of section B is on a topic that was barely covered in class or was from so long ago that you can't remember how to preform the functions and answer the questions.
Math never been a good subject for me, but Mrs. Champ is really good about it. I have her for SL Math 1 and she is hard but not bad. I've struggled with a lot of tests and she have been great about lending me helpful workbooks and helping me after school. Its been a hard class for me but she clearly knows what she is doing. She does have pretty high expectation of people and it can be hard to keep up because the class is fast paced.
Though her class was difficult and at times seemingly impossible, Ms. Champ made it bearable through her informative (and funny) lectures as well as friendly attitude. I've never had a class that was as relaxed, intense, challenging, and fun as HL Math with her.
She's a really good teacher- I have an A in HL math because of her. However, she can be a bit strict and her tests are somewhat difficult. She will allow some retakes if the whole class fails, which is a good thing.
She's a good teacher and she challenges you but she's not willing to help during L
Honestly people who give her bad ratings are unwilling to work hard. Put in the effort on your part and the class becomes rewarding.
Great person, pretty good teacher. Sometimes confusing but overall I think she does care about her students and how well they understand.
She is fully dedicated to teaching and is one of the few teacher out there that actually care what their students learn. If you need help, which happens often in her HL class, you can go ask her anytime and she will explain everything to you. She also holds class sessions on weekends at her house to prepare students for upcoming tests, which shows how much she is willing to sacrifice for the success of her students. The class environment is serious but a joke every now and then lightens up the class.
New years resolution: rank all my teachers! Ms. Champ is sometimes hard to approach and hard to find but she really knows her stuff and is helping us know it too.
I've had her for 3 years: SL1, HL1, and HL2, so I can say that I've seen everything. There's no doubt that she has her moments when she can be decidedly mean and unhelpful. If it's a really bad day, sometimes she'll snap at you if you ask a question that she feels she's already answered. However, she also has her good side: she likes to joke around and when you show genuine interest, she'll be glad to help. She expects a lot out of her students, so work and study extra hard to make you AND her happy.
I had her for three years--9th, 11th and 12th grade as part of the first ib class at marshall. she is, by far, the worst teacher i ever had. felt as if she was learning alongside the students not to mention the fact, as note by others, that her explanations aren't worth s***
haha i love mrs champ. she's a wonderfun person, but she's a horrible teacher. i mean she tries to help you but its difficult to understand. but you will have a very fun class, even if you fail at the end of the year. she makes class fun, or atleast our class.
She's a nice person, although whenever you get something wrong she tries to make you feel stupid. She doesn't teach very well and she relies too much on the calculator -_-;;
unless your pohan or albert einstein or something, you'll never do well in IB higher math. she has to hold class on saturdays to cover all the material. do math
nice person, but a mediocre teacher...could never understand anything...
ms. champ's kids need to stop posting. i had her in '97, '98, and '99; she was the only teacher to teach IB Math...the worst teacher i have ever had.
