Mr. Barder was incredibly supportive as a teacher and beyond. I graduated in '08 and 10 years down the line am an art director in New York, I can't help but attribute a lot of my drive to continue art in college to Mr Barder. Having the support through the AP art program when it seemed like my world was falling apart and I had too many things going on, he really helped me get my portfolio together and provided valuable critique.
I am a former student. Class of 97. Mr Barder was and is the most influential and inspiring teacher I ever had.
Bill Barder. What a great man. I graduated several years ago and have taken many art classes in college since. Barder was by far the best art teacher I've ever had. He has a corky sense of humor and is super passionate about his students. Schools need to have more teachers like him.
Best teacher NA
I graduated from KMHS 7 years ago and I accredit Mr. Barder for injecting perseverance and hard work in me (even though I was far too immature in high school to fully benefit from his teachings). Anyone seeking a career in the arts needs to be aware that nothing happens overnight. Mr. Barder is a gem; he is the most humble person Ive met. I once asked him why he began teaching, knowing his exceedingly successful career working as an animator on Tiny Toons. He replied, "I've always wanted to teach, and love teaching." He mentored Pete Docter (widely known as the director of Toy Story 1 and 2, Monsters Inc. 1 and 2, and UP, to name a few).
I believe he still has That Beatles quote "And in the end, the love you get is equal to the love you give" above the animation room. I believe this quote sums up this selfless man.
Take his courses, you wont regret it!
I graduated years ago. Mr. Barder was easily one of the best teachers I've ever had. I didn't end up pursuing art as a career, but I remember how Mr. Barder strove to instill in his students a sense that there is a real life out there for artists if you pursue it. He has tons of real industry experience, so he would know. I remember all the awesome field trips and guests he would have in. I took his animation class the first year it was offered - best memories of KMHS there. Empowering.
Ah, Mr. Barder, now that I'm in college I miss the environment that you created for your animation students, allowing us to work at our own pace as long as it got done by the end of the semester and then even allowing some to work through the next semester on projects. To think that I may not have even considered my major of "Media Arts and Game Design", if it weren't for your animation class and encouraging me even with my fine motor control issues. The world needs more people like you, Mr. B.
Mr. Barder's awesome. He's a really nice guy and is gonna try his best to help you succeed, as long as you're willing to try as well.
Bill Barder was one of my favorite teachers. He never had any time to spare but somehow always found a way to help you in the short time he had. Truly a great leader among teachers, as he revitalizes
I graduated almost 15 years ago and Mr Barder is the best teacher I ever had. Glad to see he is still teaching, we need more like him.
I had Bill Barder for 3 years of art in high school. I am an artist still, and have had many other art teachers (college professors, other mentors, etc.) and still consider him my best teacher EVER.
Great artist with the willingness to help you with your problems, the more effort you put into his classes the more you will get back from him as in extra time to work and a little more leiniency
great, talented guide...mr.b is the teacher you want to have if you want to take animation / illustration and succeed. He's got an odd sense of humor; but bare with him.
i haven't had him as a teacher so i don't know how he is teaching wise but other than that he is soo funny and just an awesome guy to talk to.
Awesome guy, and great artist with a broad range of acceptance. Not the best "teacher" but defiantly the best in the art department. Had him for AP and he's really hard.
mr barder was a great teacher of mine, he inspired me.
Best teacher in the school. Lucky to have him. Always willing to listen.
